Like someone else said, I have a feeling we'll get a release date this week, or we're looking at 2011 release.

I don't think you can start a big enough marketing push for a game like GT5 if an announcement on a release date is in November, because that means the release date is pushed back to at least the last week of November, but more likely much later...depending on how soon in November we hear something.

The whole phenomenon called GT5 has been one lie after another from PD/Sony, and it's not only related to release dates.

I'll be getting it on release day no doubt, but Sony/PD are making this more comical with each passing week.

I'd like to see you say that stuff to Kaz and Sony. Tell them their a sham and that they suck, see if he gives you the time of day. He kindly would, and say something professional and calm like a Japanese would. But me? I'd smack you with your copy of GT5, and take it away from you for your complaining.

I see people like you and think to myself, these are the guys that don't have any clue as to the complexity that games such as GT are. You magically think that Kaz can just make us a GT5 and release it tomorrow or something? You guys here lack patience. There's a thing called a PS3. It has a lot of other video games that you can play. It even has a thing called Home. And you can get Netflix on it too! Did ya know it also has downloadable games as well?

There's no reason to be hasty in waiting for GT5. No reason to call Kaz or Sony out. Delays? Who cares, I've been more than satisfied waiting for those AWESOME Gran Turismo games. I play other crap racers like NFS:Shift or Forza and even Ridge Racer, they don't hold a candle to the realism that is GT. Quality takes time. I'd rather they take their time and solve all the kinks and release it when it's finalized. Not like NFS:Shi(f)t and it's update patches that still don't work for helping the cars handle.

If you like mediocrity, then GT5 should have been released last year. If you like quality, then GT5 should be released when it's done.

Amen.

'm Not afraid. GT5 will come out this year. Too many great exclusive titles to wait for next year as Infamous 2, Uncharted 3, Ratchet & Clank, Little Big Planet 2, so no room for GT5. Furthermore, the months of november and december so bad quality game selection, this is precisely the time to bring in GT5!

Striving for perfection is no excuse for a delay when the game is supposedly finished?

And please don't threat people to smack them with anything, unless you have the guts to put your real name under post

Seriously you need to chill out with the personal attacks, cause he said nothing close to where you're getting at.

But didn't kaz say the game is complete? besides i was aware that in australia that if you buy a new bravia 3dtv there is a voucher for a ps3 and gt5 and supposedly the vocher expires on Dec. 31st @ 12:00am Why would they offer something so lucrative for a game that isn't out. I dunno but I would have to guess maybe dec 15-20 if they're going to sell it this holiday. But, if they leave it for Q1 2011 then just add another first party exclusive for Sony to go along with Killzone 3 Little Big Planet 2 etc. Weather this holiday or in Q1 2011 GRAN TURISMO 5 WILL BE THE REASON YOU OWN A PS3!!! it will leave modern warefare 2 and halo reach owners pissing their pants wondering how did a racing game manage to break the all time one day sales record!

There is always a fine print. This is a quote from another thread. Sony will always have their bases covered when it comes to legality.

A few people have been referring to the the Guaranteed delivery by Christmas for the Australian 3D Entertainment Pack, but with all business Guarantees you have to read the small print.

http://promotion.sony.com.au/Bravia3d/

http://promotion.sony.com.au/Bravia3d/Home/TermsAndConditions

Under the terms and conditions, paragraph 14
# For eligible claimants entering under Condition 9, if eligible claimants register and the required documentation is received and validated by the promoter before 30 November 2010, prize delivery is guaranteed before 25 December 2010. Otherwise the prize will be delivered to the eligible claimant (if applicable) within 28 days of the Promoter validating the entry and purchase documentation. For Sony Style purchases, prizes will be delivered with the product purchased, unless the product is available prior to the prize being available; the Promoter will notify the claimant if there is any delay for delivery of the product. Prizes will be delivered to Australian addresses only.

Another thing is the Schick promotion ends on the 31st of March 2011. Weird, and I'm not saying the game will come next year.

@trk29 Thanks for clearing that up! wow I can't believe I misread the fine print the first time *sigh* so I guess it could mean Q1 then...hmm well I guess we have to sit and wait til' the end of this week then

Have you ever criticized anything, ever, Seth? I feel like we're one step away from the typical "let's see you make something as good as GT5" defensive post. I can safely say I was thoroughly disappointed with Transformers 2. I've never made a movie but that doesn't excuse Michael Bay from producing garbage. Extreme example... but then again, you're being more than a bit hypocritical to get so defensive about GT, and in the very same post rip on "crap racers" and take a not-very-imaginative swerve around the swear filter for one of the games. Clever.

There are more than a few people who don't care about what else the PS3 offers. They bought a PS3 for GT. Being "hasty" is one thing... but this game has one of the longest development times in the entire history of the industry. People have been plenty patient. Like Kaz's presentation years ago showing GT5's goal of a 2008 release... woops. Or maybe the leaked printed documents about a 2009 release... woops. Don't worry though, the game's basically done, they can release whenever they want... how's March 2010 sound? Woops. Sorry about that guys, November 2, and absolutely no more delays. Woops.

Quality =/= Realism, unless it's your stated goal. Hot Pursuit looks like fun... is it going to be even remotely close to GT physics wise? Hell no! It's Burnout with licensed cars ! But aren't you doing exactly what you condemn others for by calling these other games crap or that they're somehow lacking in quality? They're quality games, they're just not possessing the specific qualities you're looking for. I don't walk into a Mazda dealership and complain about how the Miata is a crap car because it can't carry the family like the 3 can ...and the bit about the patches should prove interesting, since I'd be surprised if PD doesn't need a patch for something whenever the game is eventually released.

I'll take your last line one step further though; I do like quality, and GT5 should be released when it's done. So I'd like less rehashed Standard models. Y'know, to avoid any mediocrity.

(It's all a matter of compromise, is what I'm trying to get at here).

It'll still be a first-day purchase game for me, but that's the thing; it's a game. Not the digitally-reincarnated version of (insert deity of choice here). It amazes me that so many people find it impossible to defend the game without resorting to trashing other ones... and it's even more surprising (though, maybe it shouldn't be) that people still put any stock in anything PD or Sony have to say about the game, especially when we'll actually be able to play it. Kaz is essentially the Boy Who Cried Release.

AND THE INTELLECTUAL AWARD OF THE DAY GOES TOO....SlipZtrEm...nice post bro I'm proud of your patience but you forgot the blame is also kaz's extreme obsessive compulsiveness FORZA 3 is the perfect example of rushedness and mediocrity

"Let's clap for mediocrity!!! Now let's go find a Ford Focus so we can clap for that too..."

SlipZtrEm: There are more than a few people who don't care about what else the PS3 offers. They bought a PS3 for GT

I for one are one of these people. When there was finally a release date, I waited to see if there were soon-to-follow combo deals... alas that took a little longer than I was willing to wait... so I purchased

GT5 Collectors Edition
320GB PS3
Logitech G27
Projector Bulb (cause I plan to use the hours up on my old and need a spare incase...)

Now the above is quite a little outlay...

Disappointed GT5 delayed? Yes
Surprised? No - but after a confirmed date? HELL YES
Will I wait anxiously? Of course
Get another game in the meantime? Not in your life. For me PS3 was ONLY EVER about GT5.

Just like Slip I do agree with your last sentence.

You know right before they let everyone know that there was going to be a delay again. People were doing the greatest thing, there was so much hype in here and people were so excited for this game to finally come out and people were letting their imagination run wild with what could be or should be in the final game.
We have been waiting a long time. And everyone defended PD, now we all (most of us) feel a little betrayed in a way that Sony are not taking things seriously with their so called flagship title. There is hardly any marketing going on, there should be stuff all over the place but yet we are not seeing that much and if they are to release this game before the end of the year (so they say) they better start letting people know besides the people that read gaming magazines and visit gaming sites. So it is a bitter pill right now and to tell someone that they are wrong for being upset because the game is not out is not your right because that is their opinion. And you should not insult someone because you disagree with them.

Kaz is essentially the Boy Who Cried Release.

So March Japan release (1) and Start of November worldwide release (2), are not classified as "crying release"...

I understand your frustration but they've hardly pushed it back enough to deserve that statement!

Call of Duty (virtua cop 7), will destroy GT5 in terms of sales, I have no doubt about that. Loads of people I know are buying COD, to them it's become a yearly habbit, a fear of not being left behind when all their friends are playing it online. I will personally not be buying it. I bought the last one and my IQ dropped quite considerably after playing it. I only know 2 people who will buy GT5 and one of them is me.

Although COD and MOH have a growing multiplayer use, GT5 will have too a long life in our discs trays. GT5 sales will expand during much greater time than FPS like COD or MOH, where players expect a "new product" every year. You can't compare apples and oranges.

Interesting that SS replies, seems he always has to put his two cents into the fray because what he thinks is always right. Nah...

For one, I never said GT was perfect, but it's a quality game, and their quality is realism. Do you really think other games are as good as quality in the racing genre as GT? If you do tell me what's so quality about them. As far as a fun factor goes that's great, Hot Pursuit is fun, it's not the same as GT though. GT isn't Hot Pursuit, nor is it Forza, nor NFS, nor Ridge Racer. GT has a different quality, which is what I was getting at.

To me it seems you always put your little 'say' into replies posts that are opinionated to make it seem like you're the smart guy in the room. That's cool, you can shine in your little limelight and have people agree with you on an internet forum, if that's what makes your day. I stated my opinion. And there's lots of people on the NFS:Shift section on this very site call it the same thing I said. So no, it wasn't clever, it's called a joke. Guess you didn't find humor in that, huh?

I guess you do lack a sense of humor at times. As does anyone else who didn't catch the first line in my last statement. I would smack a complainer with the GT5 box, but that's just me. It's not in a serious sense, but just a 'wake up' kind of slap upside the head. I don't feel I need to justify my every post to people like you or anyone else. I post what I post. And the games that are listed in my post are pretty much crap when they try to label themselves as serious racing contenders. If you disagree that's great. I'm posting my opinion. One game being delayed shouldn't make you feel like you can't 'trust' Kaz or Sony, or have 'faith' in them, or call them 'liars'. That's pathetic, and posts that say stuff like that is pathetic. To all them, I think you should take a look at reality. Nothing is perfect, nothing is always on time. I'm not here for the defense of anyone. I'm stating the obvious. Stuff happens.

Maybe you missed the second paragraph in his post?

Directly from Kaz's mouth "The game's basically done", they can release whenever they want... how's March 2010 sound? Woops. Sorry about that guys, November 2, and absolutely no more delays. Woops.

Maybe you missed the second paragraph in his post?

Maybe you missed my point,

Kaz still hasn't been "crying release"! (as in the play on words "the boy who cried wolf")

Being on the inside of game development myself (not my job though), its annoying enough with people asking "when is it being released?", or saying things like "oh this game is vapourware now because i haven't heard anything in a while".

I don't blame them for not releasing any info. We have our own issue with release at the moment too, and that's the problem putting a date on things, we've already pushed back twice and may have to push back again.

Although COD and MOH have a growing multiplayer use, GT5 will have too a long life in our discs trays. GT5 sales will expand during much greater time than FPS like COD or MOH, where players expect a "new product" every year. You can't compare apples and oranges.

COD and MOH in general are only good for multiplayer. and how are worldwide sales for Modern Warefare 2? Exactly in FACT according to NPD the best sales heck, most of the sales are from right here in the good ol' USA but, gran turismo is a WORLDWIDE brand the quality of the games is way too good to be overlooked. MW2? until Infinity Ward got the license Call Of Duty was average at best

"I LIKE COMPARING APPLES AND ORANGES...BOTH ARE DELICIOUS EITHER WAY!"

Unlike COD, GT5 is a definite system mover. COD will no doubt sell well across all the platforms, but people are less likely to buy a new PS3 for the event, they will most likely stick to what they already have and buy COD for that platform. Releasing GT5 near COD will hurt sales a bit, but over the long run the same amount of people are going to end up purchasing GT5 no matter what.

Hopefully Tuesday Gamespot will release something new and then we have Wednesday to forward to as well.

@freshseth83 I still find it funny at E3 how they glorified the november 2nd release date and they STILL couldn't deliver...I'm just worried why they're waiting until the end of this month to give a new release date. They should have released a new date a few days after the delay...This is their flagship title and they're holding it for piracy and manufacturing delays!? Come on..Fool me once shame on me., Fool me twice...Q1 2011

Sony said before the end of this year. They said this holiday season. The holidays end January 1st. So before the end of the year and this Holiday season could be Thanksgiving to Christmas. So who was fooled? If you were fooled, well I guess you're a fool? I wasn't fooled. The game aint on shelves is it? I'm not fooled at all. How do you get fooled as to a game being out when it aint out? Till it hits stores that's when all speculation ends. I don't concern myself with dates. Time is time. It'll be here soon. No one knows the exact reason GT5 aint here, we can only speculate. I'm sure it's a good reason though. Knowing GT5 is the creme of the crop for the PS3, they're not going to hold it back. Firmware updates to the PS3, being a couple days late, whatever it may be, I'm sure it's a good enough reason to not have GT5 out by now. You have to remember that this is probably going to be the most popular game on the PS3. They want to make all they can off of it. So having potential problems with piracy or anything of that nature I'm sure would put it off. I wouldn't see why any company would do any different!

Interesting that SS replies, seems he always has to put his two cents into the fray because what he thinks is always right. Nah...

Here I was looking for a Shouden post... my avatar's misleading...

For one, I never said GT was perfect, but it's a quality game...

Duly noted, which is why I never said as much.

Do you really think other games are as good as quality in the racing genre as GT? If you do tell me what's so quality about them. As far as a fun factor goes that's great, Hot Pursuit is fun, it's not the same as GT though.

There are games that simulate racing as a sport far better, yeah. GT has never been an especially good racing simulator; hence it's tag of "driving simulator". Using your own sentiment; would you go up to the producers and work crew of the other games you don't rate and tell them, to their faces, that their work isn't quality, and doesn't stand up to your discerning standards?

GT isn't Hot Pursuit, nor is it Forza, nor NFS, nor Ridge Racer. GT has a different quality, which is what I was getting at.

This I'll gladly agree on 👍

To me it seems you always put your little 'say' into replies posts that are opinionated to make it seem like you're the smart guy in the room. That's cool, you can shine in your little limelight and have people agree with you on an internet forum, if that's what makes your day.

Uh... really? That's where you wanna go? Heh, okay then.

I stated my opinion.

And so has everybody else in this thread. Yes, even the ones that, *gasp*, aren't too happy with this 11th hour delay.

And there's lots of people on the NFS:Shift section on this very site call it the same thing I said. So no, it wasn't clever, it's called a joke. Guess you didn't find humor in that, huh?

...what, "Shi(f)t"? Funny like "Flopza" or "Grand Turdismo"? Yeah, hilarious!

I guess you do lack a sense of humor at times. As does anyone else who didn't catch the first line in my last statement. I would smack a complainer with the GT5 box, but that's just me. It's not in a serious sense, but just a 'wake up' kind of slap upside the head.

People who don't share your views on a particular video game deserve a "wake up" kind of slap upside the head? Got it.

I don't feel I need to justify my every post to people like you or anyone else. I post what I post.

...as do most of us .

And the games that are listed in my post are pretty much crap when they try to label themselves as serious racing contenders.

Other than FM3 (and specifically, Dan, whom I agree tends to over-do it), which of them has gone out of their way to "label themselves" that? Or is it mostly GT fans rabidly lashing out at other "inferior" games because they're still waiting on theirs? You just finished telling me they're different from GT, so now why are they getting compared to it?

If you disagree that's great. I'm posting my opinion. You have yours as well and are entitled to it.

...and apparently entitled to a GT5 case for having an opinion that doesn't mirror yours.

I just think it's sad that everyone wants to jump on Sony and Kaz when the game aint even released yet.

I find it equally sad some people will go out of their way to rationalize and justify in their desire to defend a game that ain't even released yet.

One final day was set for 11/2, they won't make it. So what? You wanna lynch them for it?

Well now that you mention it... uh, no. The last thing we need is the game code potentially getting destroyed!

That's what I call impatience. There's plenty of things your PS3 can do.

As hellnback just pointed out, that's not always helpful. Me, I've got games and plenty of other non-PS3 things to deal with. But not everyone uses their system the same way as you or I.

And if GT5 is the end of videogames for you (to some on here it seems so) that's pretty sad.

I don't think I can physically agree any more with this. I am agreeing so bad.

Please refer to the "Woops" paragraph of my last post. Nevermind the history of delays in previous GT titles.

So you think it's easy to recoordinate the manufacturing process of the biggest PS3 game?

Read a couple of Japanese articles today and there seems to be a growing suspicion that GT5 won't make it onto the shelves in time for Christmas or perhaps even the end of this year.

If that's true, I think Sony have really disappointed a very loyal fanbase. So many people bought the PS3 in order to play GT5 and for them to get everyone's hopes up with the November 2/3/4 release date was just wrong. If the delay is in order to ensure the perfect playing experience then fair enough. But if it is to prevent them losing some $s from piracy then I think we the customers are getting a raw deal.
