Let me just ask you this.. What's the last Supercar that Forza created?

I think it speaks lengths about Polyphony Digitals ethics, creativity and leading the way in creations and designing.

I agree. Just to be asked to design a car for any company speaks volumes for how far the company has come over the years. I still think its ugly though. To answer your question, none, i also suspect they might not get ever get that kind of offer.

You're WAYYY too optimistic. The only way Porsche will be in GT5 is though future DLC (and that's still a long shot)

How long is this damn contract with EA.

I mean FM3 has 32 Porsches and Ea wont give GT5 one.

It looks like a B to me too. I think that's the option to B-Spec in online race that Kaz mentioned.

That would be great news. Ive been dreaming that it'd be possible to do a 24hours of Le Mans online, similar to the event in GT4. It'd of course be nice if driver B could take the wheel during a restroom break :D

I think in the end, it comes down to money and exclusivity.
They either want too much money or just want to keep them for XBOX only.
Which sucks for us.:grumpy:

Gran Turismo 4: Japan: December 28th, 2004

5 years, 1 month, 5 days and counting.....

Gran Turismo 5: TBA (To Be Announced)

Notice a trend?
I already made note of this a couple days ago on their release dates.

Putting your post in blue & red isn't going to make it any more interesting.

Why wont everyone who's complaining, sometimes saying, GO TO HELL PD, WTF, or OMG THIS IS JOKE, just go away PLEASE!!!!!

This is a fan site, i'm so tired of your negativity. If you've fell out of love for the series there is really no need for you to be here.

Thats stupid marketing for Porsche. Gran Turismo is a great marketing tool that would help them much more than an NFS game could.

No so sure about that. Imagine asking Porsche for their license. They ask when are you planning on releasing they game to the public. They say we don't know. Doesn't sound to professional in my opinion.

All good and well but Porsche probably wanted their car featuring in a game that was actually in existence. EA probaby jumped on the exclusivity deal, knowing that GT would be years away and sold Porsche on hobsons choice.

Unfortunately for Porsche, who probably rue the day they signed that EA contract, it's a contract, and they are bound by it..

Of course why PD can't get a licence is another issue, and something I don't think we will know..

They may not want to pay the asking price, EA may be strategically not allowing them to buy one, it may or may not have anything to do with MS, we just don't know..

The other side of the coin is Porsches marketing chaps might not be as on the ball as other companies and got a bit taken in my the EA people. The whole thing reeks of hoodwink.

Gran Turismo 1 took 5 years to make.

5 Years for a PS3 game with around 1000 cars, over 20 tracks etc. And considering the other projects they have done inbetween, GTHD, Prologue, Tourist Trophy, GTPSP, External Projects like the GTR Dash. The GT by Citroen was made in game, which inspired the real prototype to be made, not the other way around.

I think 5 years is nothing for what we are about to receive. And it is doubtful Sony will be releasing a 'PS4' anytime soon. GT6 need only add things to GT5, and improve existing features. The development time for that will be maybe 2-3 years. Partly because they have learnt from their mistakes with this release taking so long, they know how restless some 'fans' are getting about the long wait.

People keep mentioning other projects they've worked on such as GTHD and Prologue, but can those really be consider something seperate? I always thought these were part of the process of completing GT5. Am I wrong to assume such a thing?

I'm not bashing PD on their developement time though. The only thing i'm annoyed be are some of the things Kaz has said to give us the impression the game was further along than it really was and or ready to be released. Also annoyed by the lack of info they have released about the game. Seriously, all it takes is few pictures a week and a couple little announcements to keep people happy. Hell they could release a image of a new car each day and still have nearly 700 unseen cars when the game is released. I sure would like to see some High resolution pictures of the ae86, interior and all. :)

Indeed GT5 is an ongoing process, but GTHD, Prologue and the Time Trial Demo will all have required additional code to be written, or for existing code for GT5 to be edited to create these games. And then they released updates for Prologue, in both the physics engine, the online, the gameplay, the PP system, they added more cars, adjusted the line-ups for some of the races (Noticeable in S10, the old S10 lineup pre-spec 2 was too easy). These things don't necessarily have a direct effect on GT5, but they had to be written into Prologue's code and released as DLC. There must have been at least some of their staff working solely on projects like Prologue, GTPSP etc. Which will have slowed progress with GT5.

I'm pretty sure that not the online features.. Kaz said we will be able to set up car clubs and racing leagues

I'm sure there's more to the online but it seems really rich and deep even now

We've only seen "Event Settings" on the screenshots.

There's also a button "Event Mode". This could well contain all of these options.

I too consider all those things were part of the progress. Lots of the fine tuning in Prologue you mentioned will have impacted the way they managed the final game assets. Even if GTPSP is a little different story, they sure learned from managing the limited resources like hardware memory and restricted software size. Sure some of the achievement were mostly based on promotional and marketing considerations, but I remain convinced they help setting the game and company as a standard in regard of the automotive industry, thus helping further licensing (manufacturers/racing series) negotiations. All in all I don’t see anything here that wouldn’t make GT5 an even better racing game.

Now if they just could hire a PR and release some official info, they could probably tame what is IMHO really bugging this game: a solid fan base that is left in the maze of speculation...

This. Has anyone ever thought that GT5 has been put less work than we originally thought? I don't know how much those projects have occupied in GT5's time space.

Anyways, I think people are angered not because it is taking "5" years for GT5 to be developed, but rather five years for them waiting for it. Which is not the same thing, since GT5 could have been anounced just now to be in the making, and everyone would go "just gimme a damn GT5 already".

If only they would release more info on the game. I really think that would calm some people down including me. I'm actually calm, just very irritated, justified or not... Can anyone think of a logical reason why they have to keep so much secret? Or am I just that dumb. :dunce:

If PD were to do a "Car of the week" on their website highlighting a new unseen car, would that make everyone happy for the 6 to 10 months till the game comes out?

I agree, Prologue wasn't a waste of time at all, using feedback from it PD was able to change numerous features in the game, you can just say by the online, that's horrible and they worked on it and that's why we are so impressed by the GT academy final online mode, the only thing that is perfect on prologue are the graphics, even so they insisted in improving it more and more, they're crazy perfectionists and Prologue was a laboratory and has accomplished it's goals. In my opinion, only after Prologue, PD really decided what would be the final product, and talking this way, I hope they're aware that mostly players prefer standing starts than rolling starts, did you listen Kazunori-sensei?

Maybe if they just did what most other devs do and kept the fans up to date with what's currently going on and when the game is expected to release. PD seem to have this whole "cloak 'n' dagger" thing going on.

"We have cars - they look awesome but you can't see how awesome cos" ... why? The competition might decide to copy the awesomeness?

"We will release it but we can't say when cos that would give away the secret of how much work we've done already and how much is still left and".... what? Turn 10 will become kings of the universe if this information somehow becomes public?

It smacks of immaturity and paranoia from where I'm sitting. Okay keep the genre breaking features under wraps but for christs sake just let us know when we can expect to play it!

No, it wouldn't make everyone happy, but it sure would make alot of people a heck of alot happier. It doesn't just have to be a car alone, along with a some nice screens they could provide bit of info, oh how about a few of the possible upgrades that can be done to such car. :)

Or they could just keep absolutely silent until they are ready to begin full promotion of the game. But this in between state of a little tit bit here and a little tit bit there is doing nobody any favours, especially themselves.

Prologue is GT5, so whatever work went into that also counted towards GT5, no? Same with GTHD.
