Well yeah, that would be stupid to cut offline play, just as stupid as putting in a Prologue/ Forza style - online mode where you can choose (almost) nothing and earn very little. :)

A good example of online vs offline is the Phantasy Star series by Sega. Phantasy Star online for Dreamcast was brilliant, you could advance your character online or offline. Although you had to pay a subscription to play online, the online/offline gameplay was exactly the same.

In Phantasy Star universe, the sequel, they removed the ability to level up your character offline, they seperated the online/offline elements of the game in other words. So i bought the game for PS2, not realising than in order to play the actual game i would have to pay a subscription. It also meant most of the items/features were not accessible without paying for the online, instead we got the crappy single player campaign which was very mediocre.

The online and offline modes in GT5 should be linked in some way, i should be able to buy my car, and go and race in the Sunday cup online instead of against AI. I'm just curious how the online system for GT5 works, it could be brilliant, it could just be a seperate online mode which some users might never touch.

Are you sure these are not dandelions?

they're not, the chunks actually plop up and fall back down as the wheels shred the ground up I guess. Well 500Hp cars do that :)

I advanced it frame by frame on windows media player and it's definitely not a flower as the shape is like 2-3 times larger.
And that GTR actually threw up another chunk as it continued on from the screenshot I snapped.

Gives a hint of what to expect in the Rally part of GT5 at a guess :dopey:

Im still sceptical, but youre definitely right that it looks like that.
We will see. ;)

I hope not. There are so many more tracks I would prefer to Paul Ricard. Besides, the fact the GT Academy is there doesn't mean anything. They're just using a track for that countrys finals, IIRC they used Silverstone here in the UK last year and maybe again this time. The direct connection to GT5 is lost once the academy moves on from the game based heats.

They still use Silverstone for the international finals, the Nissan Driving Academy is there too. But yeah, doesnt mean we will get the track(s).

Dont hate Paul Ricard though, some of its layouts arent bad at all.

Sounds like online should exactly not be like...

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was thinking, you should always be able to choose and not have a seperate mode only, which has no ties to the core of the game... we'll see, sooner or rather later.

:dunce:

By whom exactly? It has almost no effect on the racing dynamics. I've crashed on purpose many times with it having no effect on my lap times. It was put in just so they could say they have it and GT doesn't. It's pointless. If that's how it's gonna be implemented in GT, then I feel they wasted their time.

When my engines blown i can't get into top gear and my lap times suffer badly. What game you playing?

Well, 60hrs into the game and my engine has never blown so I guess I can ask you the same question. If I have to go out of my way in order to blow an engine to finally see damage take effect, then I think my point stands. Plus, that isn't physical damage, I'm assuming you're downshifting into 1st when doing 120?

I stopped in at my local EB games to preorder Heavy Rain and I thought I would drop the GT5 release bomb (question) to see what rubbish they come out with, I am suprised I got (with a funny/confused/frustrated look on his face)

"It just got delayed in Japan recently, so who knows"

This isn't a 'release date' post, just I found it amusing a gameshop employee didn't talk rubbish like usual

Damn. The last time I asked the worker there said to go check the catalog (which it was set for Feb 2nd). LOL, noobs.

Agree 100%, hope KY reads that.

^Joking about?

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with your comment but.. I don't want to have to race against ultra-elite-make-no-mistakes-EVER-take-things-way-too-seriously-live-eat-sleep-breath-driving-simulation gamers every time I play online.

I made an "enhanced" version of the Super GT Fuji vid - Gives a better impression of what GT5 will look like :)

If you look closely you can see the flowers and grass moving as cars go past, and chunks of debris get thrown up as the cars go off track at 19 secs

I see the debri, a chunk of grass and dirt flying at around 19 seconds (next to dark blue car, between 19-20 seconds. Maybe you can drive on grass and yo will deform it a bit? So after driving on corners, more dirt will show? THATS AWESOME if true!
