I made an "enhanced" version of the Super GT Fuji vid - Gives a better impression of what GT5 will look like :)

If you look closely you can see the flowers and grass moving as cars go past, and chunks of debris get thrown up as the cars go off track at 19 secs

Awesome video , got some more ?:dopey:

Eh, it's just the gamespot ces video...:grumpy:

Well, 60hrs into the game and my engine has never blown so I guess I can ask you the same question. If I have to go out of my way in order to blow an engine to finally see damage take effect, then I think my point stands. Plus, that isn't physical damage, I'm assuming you're downshifting into 1st when doing 120?

You already said you went out if your way to crash, yet you've never blown your engine. Don't know what's happened there but believe me you can blow an engine and it does effect your lap times.

Oh and why is it not physical damage?

After watching that video, I hope the blue indicator is only for the Academy because it sure looks distracting.

And can you tighten my wheel for me?????mid race???????what???????????👎

This comp doesn't look planned out very well, or gremlins are running it.
That's too bad, really.

Our Sunday LAN's seem more professional.

By whom exactly? It has almost no effect on the racing dynamics. I've crashed on purpose many times with it having no effect on my lap times. It was put in just so they could say they have it and GT doesn't. It's pointless. If that's how it's gonna be implemented in GT, then I feel they wasted their time.

Then you must have been playing with cosmetic damage on only. You pick up a little bit of aero damage and it can affect your top speed and handling. Miss a gear and you damage the gearbox or clutch increasing your shift times and affecting top speed. Damage your brakes and you don't brake effectively. Damage your engine and your acceleration and top speed will down, damage it enough and you have to limp back to the pits to repair your car. It's this kind of misinformation, about most games, that causes a lot of the problems.

Agreed, I have damage on limited and I already had a hard time to finish a 3 lap race in R2 class ( I still won, but that's due to forgiving A.I., I guess)... my point is: one more lap and I wouldn't even been able to steer that car anymore, I've yet to test full damage, but it's pretty impressive already how the car reacts after some (not so small) impacts.
Most important, you can really feel your car losing it's abilities, it's not only some numbers getting affected. 👍

Thanks for posting the correct info. Forza has it problems like any other game but false information is unjustified.

Maybe Dave hasn't even realised he only had it on cosmetic damage, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. But it does happen for all games, some of the crap you see written about GT5 on Forza forums gets me going too. I'll always stand up for any game if I think someone is being unfair to it.

Is not sure but i`ve read, the three tracks on th Spanish finals are Indy, Nurburgring and Daytona (i guess will be road course, not oval). I`ll confirm that later:)

Honestly. Stop saying stuff like that. No one knows what the final game will look like 100%. All of your posts are about wishful thinking and almost nothing else. Stop.

You got me, actually. When I did the purposeful crashes it was with cosmetic damage. The only time I played with higher damage was at my friend's house and I honestly don't remember crashing enough to notice. My sincere apologies.

Well, you have to remember that the damage model in Forza isn't all that detailed or all that accurate. It's actually rather limited even in sim level. You can bang up your cars much more than you can in real life, but that's about normal in racing games. In GTR, it's not even as visual. I know I can look forward to bent suspensions and other problems, which are more realistic mechanically than Forza, which is why I keep it below 90%. But in replays, the car just looks a bit beat up. One bump too many though, and *whump*, my car goes dead.

I've been in races in all three Forzas in which damage seemed spot on, and sometimes I've been in violent wrecks which have done very little. I think the problem is that Dan The Mouth and his legion of fanboys have talked up the damage system in Forza too much, so when it doesn't match reality, the non-devoted find it lame. But really, this level of damage should be fine, so that you can't abuse your car without some level of penalty. I can imagine how many of us would be pulling our hair out if racing games had a truly accurate damage system. How many want to do an endurance race in which you have to try a dozen times to get past the fifteenth lap? That particular situation is why, on enduros, my damage level will be zero.

Will GT5 be slagged for having less than perfect damage? Sure, Gran Turismo is always subject to a double standard lately. Will it make it suckier if it is? Not really. Is Forza 3 suckier because grass still looks painted on and you can't kick up dirt clods? Not really, it's suckier because it's always rushed, and some things they can't or won't fix. But sucky? Nah, but some people will say so. In my case, because the things I like to do, create race cars and snap pics of them to share, is trapped in a busted system, I finally threw in the towel for a while. Like months. When I have tons of time to burn, I might get back into it, or when I buy a capture card for my PC... which is another $100-200 plus expense. Just to do what's so easy to do in Gran Turismo... oy.

For the record, I will have to say though that I had to wreck my cars pretty violently to total them. ;)

Hey now, these are videos of a build of GT5. Some of us are hungry to see them. If you don't like reading about GT5 news or see videos from GT5 events, just stop. ;)

Duh?:dunce:
CoolColJ showed me debris that I never noticed before, and I thank him for that.
No one knows how GT5 will be like? Why shouldn't it be like the latest videos (from CES and academy finals) posted? Tell me....
Debris are there, better textures are there, you can't ignore it.

...speechless. I'd much rather CoolColJ not stop, and you gtfo.

Dave slow down.Everyone can say anything.
On topic: Actually These improvements are good sign..BUT firstly WE need REAL release date for The REAL Driving Simulator. .
GT5 quality kills any racing game nowadays.. Besides there is no real official release date..I hope we will get more info coming in GDC 2010. i want to see somehing big before E3 2010

If we don't get any significant news by GDC, you can almost bet the game won't release till the end of the year, if not later.

Pretty awesome image (but low quality :grumpy:)

GT5 Prologue to compare - if you can't see the differences you need glasses :)
Much denser and better grass and the white/yellow Dandelions off course, and that curb is actually 3D now and sticks up

Cloud pattern is different too. You can see that the grass is a different shade, and the roughed areas near the curbs. More texture detail in the sand pits. Even that green matting on the curbs is different, plus some more muddy/dirt areas and one new section on far mid left near the railings. On the right side there are more orange bits and a long white structure that appears to go over the road.
And the extra tyre marks off course

Actually that is the exact same cloud cover!, but shifted to the left by a bit. Grass and road textures are vastly improved, all others just have different lighting.

cloud pattern isn't different, just more are added. You can see exact same clouds in both pics. Most importantly resolution looks different therefore you can't really compare the pics. One picture looks high res while the other looks to be a youube qaulity capture.

Strange that skybox are different.Thinking of weather...O________O

Kind of odd that there's the same clouds but positioned differently but I don't think that really means anything. I'm not sure that the clouds are just part of a skybox though. Same time of day in both pics.
