The cars which came out in 2009, which we have not seen yet, are going to be old yesterdays news when the game comes out later on in the year, so cars which have been launched towards the end of 2009, and this year, I guess PD will want to include in the game - so more time is needed to model these cars and then more delays to follow I should imagine - it's like a vicious circle.

I wonder if PD have got to a point where they are not allowing any more cars to be submitted into the final release cut of the game?

Prior to the Tokyo Motor Show, Kaz made a comment regarding new manufacturer licenses would be finalized by then. PD must still be adding cars as we speak, unless that was the last of them.

I think that was a poor mistranslation. I think their intention was to announce new collaborations with a car company, and we saw that in the form of the Data Logging Tech Demo.

Don't know if it's new or even news, but, I found it interesting:

"Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has hit out at driving games released since Gran Turismo 4 in 2004, saying that the 'low level of quality really shines through'.

In an interview with Eurogamer.dk, Yamauchi was asked whether he may implement features from different games in future Gran Turismo games, he replied;

"Actually I find it difficult to play the other games in more than five minutes at a time. The game's low level of quality really shines through in the other games and I can not hold them out!"

You'll have to wait and find out whether Gran Turismo 5 lives up to the standard of the incredible series when it releases later this year in Europe and America."

I read on N4G today but thanks for sharing:)

Is there any evidence to say that GT5 wont be released in Europe/ US in March 2010?
Only speculation that it wont be...

March 2010 was the only official release date, and it was for Japan, now on "postponed indefinitely" status. Sony stated the EU/US dates had not been affected. Honestly they can quote any date and claim it was the original one. What that/those dates were no one knows. Given recent official statements, Fall/Winter 2010 are the earliest probable release dates. The question is, for which market?

If it was delayed because of productions issues, and wont make Japan in March then it certainly wont be released anywhere else.

Kaz himself announced the first offical delay (pushing it past March), so it's highly unlikely.

Cloud pattern is different too. You can see that the grass is a different shade, and the roughed areas near the curbs. More texture detail in the sand pits. Even that green matting on the curbs is different, plus some more muddy/dirt areas and one new section on far mid left near the railings. On the right side there are more orange bits and a long white structure that appears to go over the road.
And the extra tyre marks off course

*snip*

What we need is a GT4 pic to compare with these two to show how far the visuals have come since then.

Since we were seeing Nurburgring comparisons with GT4, we should see some Fuji comparisons too. Does GT4 show this camera angle in replays?

Kaz announced it to insiders before it went public on their website. We don't always post everything.... ;)

You mean the "The Infield" section here knew it before the official announcement? Or what do you mean by insider? Cause that would be a reason to consider a premium membership :D

Old interview but it's never been posted here I don't think

Here's the spot the different results for both images. Is that a man standing in a red racing suit in the bottom image?

you missed a few :)

Physics don't look so arcadey now huh? :dopey:

This is my first lap at the GT5 Nurburgring track. Graphics are amazing, the driving sensation is really close to real life!! Now I understand why Polyphony spent more than 5 years to create this "pearl"!!

this is from the Irish GT Academy Finals, physics are still changing 👍

Another problem was the servers crashing. I don't know how often it happened as I left when everyone played their first rounds (since we couldn't watch).
My race was about to start and then my ps3 just didn't connect and froze. So I was left sitting there for nearly 10 mins as everyone fiddled around and fixed it (by switching off the ps3 at the power button - proving they knew **** all about what they were doing). To be honest all this threw me off as I was ready to race and then all of a sudden nothing was happening - and everyone else was still practicing. That's the only excuse I can come up with for not doing well lol

There was some mention previously in this thread that the strong slipstream was in one of the finals, yet not in the Ireland finals. If this is the case, this is completely unfair on some competitors as it's a very different race one must drive depending on this slipstream effect. I'm thinking in particular for any event with exaggerated slipstream effect; it just means the best racer is less likely to win.

Something to do with the code they had. In the breifing at the start they laid out the rules and they had TC at 7, but we put it to the vote and got it turned off :)

They said something about the code they where using and if it crashed, they would restart the race,All my races went without any issiue, but this is all being told through my eyes, others for sure will feel another way about it.

I think we got a different build of the game. We were warned before the competition started that this is new code and that there was a high chance of the game crashing at some point. Like there was very very little slipstream if any. I had watched videos of the other finals and I was expecting it to be easy to catch people on the main straight at Fuji, but this was not the case. It would be cool to adjust how strong it is -- OR -- PD could get off their asses and actually sort out a realistic level of slipstream before they release the game and leave it at that

Nope...

We have an extra special forum that no Premium Membership will buy access to.

;)

I give you two virtual cookies and a virtual hug for access.

@All the talk about the announcment tomorrow, doubt its GT5 related.

its probably announcing either their 3D firmware release details (3.20) or their upcoming wand.

I have to agree with you on this one. I think the last thing that will happen is that we will be put out of our misery with a release date and full list of specs/features.

I can't help but notice after watching that Lucas Nurburgring video a couple times, how great the car sounds. Now, it could be the same as the TT demo and I just never noticed it because my sound system sucks, but it sure sound very nice.

That video is extremely poor quality IMO...both in sound and video quality. I forgot what the demo sounded like to be exact, but to me it seems like the tire sounds and off track surfaces sound better in that footage. Hard to tell without really studying it though, especially when the sound quality is far from being great.

agree. My speakers sounded distorted and garbled. However, the game sounds underneath all that sounded much better than what I've heard before.

Physics didn't change since some 4.5 billion years, about time some people (including PD) aknowledge it! 👎

you do know he meant game physics, right?

So you are saying that the physic from the Time Trial is know different than Prologue. Did you even try the Time Trial? The other thing is were you one of the top twenty, to get to race in on of the semi finals? I'm kind of guessing not, so you don't know if they have changed or not!!

And about the sound, the Time Trial demo had a car with a V6. We saw from a higher quality video (Arund 10 pages ago) of the ISF, which actually sounded like a V8 when the guy put his foot down.

The sounds have improved. But we need to hear it for ourselves in our homes on our own speakers before we judge how much they have improved.
