Nobody said it's better than GT, but it's something. At this point every game is better than GT5 since it's actually existent.
Just to point out, I bought myself a cheap 7600GS videocard to play rfactor. Now I can finally drive the nordschleife in 4 seasons with daytime cycles, great cars and exciting sounds.

Latest Nordschleife videos showed very little work and some textures are updated at Fuji from Prologue so far. So after five year spent with tens of people in the team for the work I can't imagine GT5 not to have all GT4 tracks, tracks from Prologue, Indy from TT demo, few WRC ones, few Nascar ones and few more to that (Bern, Madrid...). We should better not start the locations and variations debate again. Please. :scared: :)

From those who've actually driven the GT5 Nordschelife:

As for the ring... Anybody who says the ring looks rubbish, it's "flat trees" make the game look awful, I think need a slap ;) The lighting, the detail, the depth... it's almost perfect!!! This picture shows the background and how far they have gone with detail. With that much mapped of the GT track, I'm sure it will be in the full game.

Anyway, great meeting everyone and a massive congrats to the 2 winners 👍 Thanks alot Maz for the guest spot and here is to GT5

You are proving that with picture where I can easilly see the shape of the curve not being round but angular like on PS2 and track updated by only few higher resolution textures? Are you really serious about that?

Soon it will be six years since GT4 arrived and I can't stop to wonder why everyone is raving about changes which are very subtle in fact.

I was actually defending the use of 2d sprite trees. Then I drove rfactor ring in which some of the types of trees are 3d. Then I saw TDU in which all trees are 3d.
Overral the ring in gt5 builds looks amazing to me. But, I don't think changing some textures and tweaking the light a bit is what this track deserves after years of development.

It's the other details instead of just "the shape of the curve not being round but angular like on PS2 and track updated by only few higher resolution textures." It's also by the fact that those who have driven the track have nothing but good things to say about the track.

Until the game is actually release especially considering the scope of the game, you can't state for a fact that the changes will be subtle. Even the change in the physics between Spec III Prologue to the TT demo is quite extensive. Five years for a proper driving game is quite reasonable- it has taken ISI almost the same amount of time for rFactor2 (still no release date) and considering that it (ISI) relies wholly on user mods to add content and PD on the other hand is solely responsible for every components in the game, put some perspective into the amount of work involved.

But if what you're looking for is for a less angular looking curve, then it'll probably never be good enough for something that has taken this long (to finish).

This is obviously a new GT5 track, and even it has angular lines. I don't think PD wants to expend too many polys on the track, when your barely going to notice it when driving. I certainly didn't when I saw it in motion.

I'd be very surprised if this makes it into the game - I daresay it was just an environment created to show off the 458...

and you'll note the barriers are flat as cardboard and a single peice in GT4, whereas they are 3D, as I stated before in GT5 version we have seen, and in 3 major sections

Why surprised? its a computer game!! the computers has limitation, the platform has limitations, what you espect? more or less, every race game has the curbs like these.

IMO the people think because the cars look really really nice in GT, every part of the game must has that quality, i dont think so.
I espect GT4 with online and damage, i dont want anymore.

Anyway, at 150 mph i dont see 2D trees or scatered curbs.

Sorry my english.

Why you would even bother watching those beautiful cars then? PS1 graphics would be certainly enough for you.

Racing is not where we notice such a small details. But in replays for that is GT so infamous you'll notice all those underrated details and naked truth about GT's perfect graphics, which is hugely concentrated on car models. And with GT5 they are going to give car models even more priority than ever and the tracks are mostly left in "PS2.2 mode", not PS3 one. Every car has zillion of polygons but every track so complex in real life got just five of them or so.

Not PS1, but, indeed, i play GT4, i love it. But you know, the half of the time i use GT (1,2,4, 5P and other racing games, FM3, rfactor, GTR, Dirt2, RBR) i watch the replays. For me, rather the polys count of the track, more important are the cameras, in that point, GT series is the number one, and number 2 goes to Dirt 2.

Sorry my english.

Been there, done that. It's fun, but takes a lot of work to make a proper & correct grid.

I can't stand the Forza community, or the way they treat their members.
love you too.
Well, go to the Forza boards and speak your mind then.

Actually, don't. It won't be pleasant. People complaining for hundreds of posts here don't know how good they have it. ;)

And you know, you could quote the entire point...

Even on the highest end PC, curves are made by angles. You won't find one single racing game which uses real curves. It's absolutely processor crippling to calculate curves everywhere.

Who will be the first to do a spot the difference with the GT4 and GT5 Nurburgring images? I've guessing that GT4 image was taken in photomode

Damn just bought an X360 with FM3 :S

I hope I did not wrong...

Sele1981, you did wrong. I'm not angry, i'm just dissapointed.

Yeah but Sony did not do their homework, so they "lost" to many (GT) fans... I will buy GT5 too but maybe then I´m to old for playing games when it´s out?

Let´s see how FM3 is... If it´s not my thing I will sell the hole bundle in ebay...

I payed 200€ so I wan´t 200€ because the bundle costs 250€ :D

But I will play it for a while now... I must get it in a few days, I ordered it online... The online part of the game is ******** I think... why the hell should I pay 50€ to play online? thats bullcrap...

Now what was this all about? (This result comes up when you google for GT5 now). :dunce:
