Not sure where you all are getting the notion that I'm comparing NASCAR to F1. You don't even know me jack nor do you know what type of racing I follow.
Sure I do follow and like F1,....and WRC....and LeMans.....and GT racing....and DTM....and BTCC......and our grassroots racing here in the US via the SCCA.
And THAT'S why I think NASCAR is boring. ;)

If you read what I wrote, Jack I never said you did. Hence my phonetic spelling of the universal expression for everybody has different preferences, Jack.

I'm in the US and I'd say that grassroots racing is the local oval, unsanctioned by anybody and often unpaved for that matter.

Whatever,JACK. Did I single you out ? Have you read the other replies to my post ? Thought so.
Probably some country bumpkin' you are.

Bumpkin with advanced degrees, but I live in a rural area-true.

If you weren't replying to me then I apologize I guess. I mentioned that many US folks don't care for F1, and your reply was right after that. I missed about the middle 3500 pages of this thread and had no idea that your defensiveness would be pointed at other people.

SCCA comes around my local-ish road track, Elkhart Lake, WI. After watching races there and at Bristol the advantage of Elkhart is that the cars are usually cooler to look at and you have better access to get close (before and after-not during-edit). Watching the race is a different story as I noted. Some of the best 'seats' at Elkhart are in your car pulled over behind the fence on the west side of the track. The view is as good there as most other places.

Exactly , everyone talks about GT6 when and where. When Kaz is more interested in GT5 which is a good thing.
I love the way Kaz owned the reporter and just said "meh i don't really care whether there was hype or not"

Also not a new interview but one many wouldn't have seen. 24 minute long but you kinda feel like you get to know Kaz better and his way of thinking. http://www.crunchgear.com/2010/01/12/interview-kazunori-yamauchi-creator-of-gran-turismo/

Actually Kaz talks about GT6 a lot, and the more you get to know him, the more you realize he's completely lost it. His brain is shot, much like a drug addict's, but maybe without the drugs.

Did you watch the interview in my post or you just blabbering ? If you watched it and still think that well that's certainly your own opinion that your entitled to.

But i think he is more worried about GT5 at the moment.

In fact the only time he really ever has talked about GT6 it was to say things like " This isn't possible on the current hardware and would be more suitable for GT6 " - that type of thing.

We won't see a GT6 for PS3 mark my words. They have built the platform they need already, they have the physic's engine and that can just be update through a patch if they ever feel the desire to change it ( i doubt it). If they want to add cars and races, they can easily do so already.
They already have a forumla for getting premium models to look the way they do and he said they could easily be used in GT6 so we won't see any model's higher than premium for a long long time.
If they ever do want change the A.I ( their choice ) , they could do so also through a patch so as you see the pattern forming there is no need for a GT6 on PS3 when any changes they would like to make , they can do so already through their current game.

New technology's and innovations and additions etc all will have to wait for GT6 on the PS4.

^I say there will be a GT6, with it being GT5 with an updated physics engine, and graphics engine, more tracks and more cars.

They dumped a lot of money into GT5 and developing the tech for the PS3, and from a business standpoint, it would be smarter to squeeze every possible buck out of the PS3 before completely devoting themselves to a GT on the PS4.

I respectfully disagree with you, i think it will go like GT5 v2.0 , GT5 v3.0 etc...as is the current trend at the moment but the small increments in the number of update v1.3 v1.5 reflects the size of the changes for the moment.

I think they will leave GT6 as a seperate game for a new platform.

Maybe they will do like the COD series and have a Gran Turismo game that is not a sequential number in the series so there would be another PS3 game but it won't be 6. I just don't see GT5 2.0 being a hit title's name. Plus with the ego involved and the 6 year dev time on 5 they might as well subtitle it: "We got this one right....we think!" :sly:

My personal bet would be that there won't be another full title on PS3. There's not much to add to 5 that can't be added through DLC either free like we've seen or for money which I really hope is at least one track pack to pull in the tracks from other games that many of us miss. Maybe even original or licensed tracks we haven't seen before.

I realy hope that they will not make us to pay for a DLC as for new tracks etc... The game was not cheap to begin with and the tracks should have been there from the beginning.

I think undoubtedly there will be tracks released sometime in the future. Either real (Spa + Bathurst please) or old fantasy tracks.

And GT5 2.0 doesn't have a ring to it, but even you agree they won't make another full title, just update and work on what they have until the new hardware is available for them to start working on. With PS2 they didn't have the ability to update via online patches, so they had to make a whole new game disc, that is not the case anymore.

It's only 9pm GMT mate.

I was thinking there might be a flurry of activity in here, people hyped for the patch.

Only to be disappointed when we don't get things we hoped for. Like maybe a track or two. Or the ability to turn music off/on from the Pause Menu or some sort of improvement on engine sounds. Or day night cycles added to 90% of tracks and weather on most tracks. Or improvements to the crappy headlights.

I would expect to pay and would want to pay for work that they have done. If they model a new car as premium or add a new track we should pay for it imo.

Just saying I don't come to work everyday and not get paid for it.

Update is 1 hour away and i suspect some will be disappointed with it and some will love it. Corner cutters who have found all the corners they can cut will be disappointed (I hope) and all the good drivers will be happy the cheaters passing them off the track will be penalised (i hope).
As for evening up the discrepancy between different cars horse power and torque i'm not sure I’ll like this one. I spent a lot of time and money finding the better cars for a particular horse power, have to wait and see i guess.

Doesn't look any different. Server is still down. Can't visit here and check it out at the same time as I use the PS3 to browse :-(

The previous patch was 608 MB, this one is 301 MB.
So patches either don't include previous updates, or PD found a way to better optimize space usage (compression?).
