I was pleased to finally get one of the Audi R8 LMS cars. I spent most of my winnings in the new German Touring Car Championship seasonal to get the Team PlayStation LMS car. I hope to keep racing and keep building up money to get some of the faster race cars available now at the Online Car Dealership. What I like about all of this is just the ability to get certain cars that you have to otherwise hope and pray the Used Car Dealer has. And sometimes, they'll have it. Trouble is, you have to wait and hope that car is there (unless a friend gifts you a certain car).

Among the current fleet of cars in the Online Dealership, I want to get the following:
• 2005 Pescarolo C60 Hybride - Judd Race Car
• the R8 [LMP] Race Car from Audi PlayStation Team ORECA
• 2009 R8 LMS Race Car (I already have the Team PlayStation one)
• the blue Formula Gran Turismo car (I will allow my current green/yellow FGT to be borrowed to my friends)
• (as many of the German touring cars as possible)

So I'll use this opportunity to make more money. The most I've ever made in this game was about 5 million Credits, and I have not done any grinding (nor do I really believe in it) for it. I have not yet reached eight figures in GT5.

How was it to drive? I found it incredibly good even with aids turned off.

The R8 LMS runs okay. Don't expect it to be some superweapon out on the track. I just did a casual test around my Toscana tarmac rally practice course. I haven't seriously shaken down the R8 LMS yet. I bought the other R8 LMS, and that's just a copy of the Team PlayStation one... only without the Team PlayStation colors. I think I'll get the Pescarolo C60 next followed by the ORECA Audi R8 LMP.

Within One Hundredth! That's what I won for the first time ever in GT5 when I did the Seasonal Event at Circuit de la Sarthe 2009. My Lexus IS-F Racing Concept (which I didn't know can be painted over, by the way), was matched up against the leading Mercedes-Benz CLK Touring Car. I won the race by a margin of 00.010- just enough for the Within One Hundredth trophy. How I did I do it? I was trailing by at least two seconds going through the tough sections of Le Mans (from the Porsche Curves to the Ford Chicane). So I then started taking chances- cutting corners from the Ford Chicane to end up setting up a crazy finish. I'm not proud of finishing the way I did, but it was enough to win the big money and that PSN Trophy. My previous closest win was a margin of 00.013 at the Pick-Up Truck Challenge race at Daytona.

So I did three thousandths better with the frantic finish at Le Mans. This is all being posted here because this is just casual discussion of GT5 rather than just discussing a Seasonal Event.

Yoshida: Polyphony's Next Game In Concepting/Designing Phase, Will Take A Few Years

VG247: There are a couple of significant holes in the software line-up you’ve been talking about this year. There’s been no mention of any more Gran Turismo and we’re still waiting on a date for The Last Guardian. Is Tokyo going to shed more light on this, or are we going to wait a little bit longer?

Yoshida: I’d say it could be a little bit longer. As far as the Gran Turismo team’s concerned, they are still working on updating the games, so they’re just shifting to the designing and concepting phase of the next project. It’s going to take a few years.

The Last Guardian team has been making progress. It’s been very difficult in terms of seeing the progress: not as fast as we’d been hoping for, and the team has been under big pressure. But we’re still making progress, so I’d like to continue to support and keep waiting for great news sometime in the future.

What do you guys think about this ?

It was always going to take a few years, GT always does.

With the game now being online hopefully they continue to support through updates and possible DLC, I could then quite happily wait another 6 years for GT6.

I think that Kaz will do more with GT5 that he wasn't able to do before the release of the game (crossing all fingers on both hands and my toes :)). And this will in turn hurt the development and release date of GT6.

Also, any work on GT5 DLC (in the form of cars and tracks) is also work on GT6. So making GT5 DLC won't add much time to the release of GT6.

I don't think GT6 will take 6 years, or even close. I think they will have learned from GT5.

Hmmm... does this mean GT will be on the back-burner until the next console? I guess there's a lot PD want to do, but can't do it "properly" on the current hardware. I suppose they can easily get hold of some ridiculously powerful hardware for prototyping features, and maybe that has convinced them to wait; I wonder if they (and other devs) have a say in the system specs for the next console.

Still, I'm very interested to hear what this "next project" is.

Fingers crossed for TT2, and a couple of years until GT6 could perhaps mean it isn't due for the PS3 although I've read somewhere on this forum that the PS3 isn't likely to be replaced anytime soon so who knows?
It's not going to be another 6 years I'm fairly certain since they've spend a lot of time on the basic structure of GT5 and could expand on that basis I guess.

I'm also hoping for TT2, but "designing and concepting" sounds (to me) like it might be something very different. You're right, though; who knows?

Not really... I'm not that sure :scared:

Also new games in an existing series need designing and concepting

Well, that's true enough. But TT is GT, with bikes, I mean I don't suppose there's too much to get into. But you're right. I'm just finding excuses not to get too excited...

Well, hopefully TT2 will offer significantly more content than the first game which indeed was a bit of a compromised sideproject created rather hastily.
So if it indeed becomes a proper full title they must need to 'conceptualise' what's included and how before actually creating it.
If you're getting too excited, remember it could be something for PS Vita....;)

Thanks, that helps! 👍

I bought the Pescarolo C60 Hybride with winnings from the latest Seasonal (Real Circuit Tours). It must be a good car if it's ahead of everybody in both this series and in GT All-Stars, so I'm going to give this car some tuning and some shaking down in races.

I have to complete the events, although I did take a NASCAR into the first one and finish third. This seasonal seems very enjoyable to me.

I did visit your blog space, and read your review. Nice job.

If the news are right, the GT franchise will write itself into "irrelevance". With such long, and frankly disappointing, development cycles, 2, 3 version of Forza and other sims, GT6 will simply not matter much when it releases. PD simply can not keep up with trends by taking years to release. GT should be on a 24 to 30 month cycle to maintain its relevance.

That's the same "news" :odd:

Funny how a few words either side of the quote can shift the context.

Maybe PD should take the Apple business model and start charging for small incremental updates to the series? That'll fill in the gaps in the earnings between full, properly revised, discrete iterations of games, too. Plus, it's totally relevant. 👍

Thanks for sharing.

I also read in that link that GT5 has gotten tremendous support. Did you miss that?

Well, thank you, maxpontiac. Pleased to know people actually care about my online work. I am not going to comment on the development deal for the next GT here until I really understand and get a feel for everything. I probably think this could be a new direction for the GT franchise if they'll seriously consider this much of development for their proud franchise. Always look at things in a positive light, and even consider what all PD has been through the past few months going from Tokyo to Fukuoka. Again- I won't comment professionally until I really get a general idea about what all is going on with PD and the future of GT.

By the way, I haven't yet played around with my new C60 Hybride in GT5.

I did not, however the site is very Sony/PS3 centric.

I was making a point which I think is very valid, particularly now when racing simulators are popping up everywhere, in all platforms and improving very quickly. GT5 was released 9 months ago, PD is still working out the bugs when other developers would be improving/adding content by now.

I enjoy GT5, but after 6 years in development it didn't brake any new grounds in my opinion.

Not a problem. You acknowledged how good GT5 is, despite the few imperfections. You also don't seem to be fixated on what's wrong, and are enjoying everything that is right.

Agreed. What happened in Japan was tragic, and even if PD was not directly in the center of things, it's obvious that PD was affected to the point of relocating some assets. On top of that, who knows what physiological damage it did.

The C60 is my next test vehicle this weekend. Good luck!

Regardless, it is a point that has been made thousands of times on this forum. Additionally, the story was posted before your post.

Anyways, if it bothers you that much and has lost personal "relevance", perhaps you should move on to one of the simulators.:)

That's the typical dismissive and comments so often found in these forums, without addressing my points.

I have and I use other very "real driving simulators", I am making comments from that experience. However, as a fan of GT5, I hope and expect more from a franchise that can and should deliver more. If you wear your objective hat, I think you will find my comments to be objective and constructive. To blindly defend PD's development cycle and so-so end product is not helping anyone.

Pointing out obvious flaws and deficiencies in GT5 is not a detraction from the positive aspects of the game, and there are many. However, GT5, after a ridiculous development time, delivered little innovation to its fans. PD must get with the program and drastically reduce development time. Taking years to develop GT5 made PD miss the boat on being innovative, technology's pace is not napping. 4 to 6 years to develop GT6 is just unacceptable.

Cheers

Has it ever occurred to you that your points have been beat to death in these very forums? Ever hear of kicking a dead horse? That link that you provided mirrors that very point.

Who is blindly defending PD? I sure hope you aren't insinuating that I am. In this very thread I said that GT5 is not perfect. I just don't fixate on the issues. I play the game, enjoy it, and look forward to what the future holds, regardless of how "bad" or "good" it is in your eyes.

You almost sound as if you want a pat on the back for stating the obvious. Everyone knows it took long for GT5 to come out, including those at PD. I don't believe anyone in this forum (at least in the years I have been here) has ever disputed that, and least of all me.

I have come to realize that the bulk of GT5 players either don't care about all the minute issues or have moved on. Of course, there is a percentage of people just like me who you know, treat GT5 for what it is.

A video game.;)
