Well, I think what we really want to know about is not whether the photo is shopped or not, but rather the reason on why they would have such thing in the first place.

I don't know too much about licensing and copyright, but are companies allowed to take other companies design without hassle now? As someone have mention before, PD have done it with Apple's icon, and those two probably don't have any connection. Now Porsche is doing it with PD's design.

It's Porsches history i will sorely miss, the Gulf-liveried 917, the Rothmans 956, the first supercar 959, the 356, RS, RSK, 908, 928, etc., etc.

And the 550, and the 718 (RSK?), the 804, 904, 906, 910, 907 etc... :D

But yeah, I love the RUFs! They'll probably be ballistic coffins with the new physics, though...

I'm sure this definitely means Porsche/PD involvement. And if you don't think Porsche in GT is a big deal you can hand in your "car enthusiast" badge, you fail.

On the official Porsche 918 website, if you let the image gallery go idle you get a message "ALREADY 34:12:MM:SS FUTURE, In 24 days the excitement will continue." wtf? And what could be coming in 24 days??? :P

Ballistic coffins!!!

Wasn't there a rumor that the EA deal ends in March 2010? Now we see GT in official Porsche shots appearing March.

Could the deal be restructured since May 2010 and PD have got in somehow or maybe more than that.

As said it could be any number of reasons or maybe some small contract outside GT5.

I bet the chap who took the image from GT PSP to fill up the screen on the dash would never have imagined that even a bunch of obsessive GT fans would pick up on such a small, useless detail. :D

I wonder if there's anything GT related, no matter how minute, that gets past GTP nerd-dom :D

Well since PD take up to 6 month to virtually build a car then please noooooooooooo
This is pretty old. The story goes from GT3 so I think that things are changed now, and it doesn't take 6 months for whole PD to do 1 car, it's just one person = 6 (old) months per car, and knowing that they have 40+ modelers you do the math...

Porsche wasn't aquired by VW, Porsche aquired a majority stake in VW and then last year (I think) an agreement was signed to merge the two companies together.
Also, regardless of who owns who, there is still a legally binding contract between Porsche and EA that has been in existence in one form or another for 11 years or more. We don't know when this Porsche/EA contract expiers, we don't know what terms are in it with regards to renewal and we don't know either way if terms would be agreed or not between PD and Porsche and/or PD and EA. Eitherway VW can't just throw i out of window even if they had the control over Porsche to otherwise make sucha decision.

Porsche was planning to buy a majority stake in VW but the whole thing backfired, stocks plunged and the tables were turned and now Porsche is part of VW, not a merger, so you bet Wiedeking and cohorts are eating large amounts of humble pie by now.

You're correct about those legally binding contracts however, those are binding whoever owns the place, but since those are reported to end this year the cards could be shuffled again.

Now that VW runs the place it could mean there are some new strategies concerning licensing, and since VW has most of its other brands present in GT it would be logical to assume Porsche will be included next time, whether it will be in GT5/ GT5 DLC/ GT6 we will only know when informed.

Hope VW also gets rid of Porsche's design department too as all they're seem to do is enlarging, adding more doors and basically screwing up the classic 911 shape.
The last original Porsche was the 928 and that was introduced in 1978...

I know its on the official Porsche website and i know that it shows the GT PSP trackselection screen, but I think its just a mistake. Some employee might have just messed it up.

I mean its exactly! taken from the game. Why would they do that, if not by mistake?

I agree, a Porsche - PD cooperation would be announced worldwide since Porsche is one of the most awaited manufacturers.

Perhaps it's a clue, perhaps an accident, perhaps it is related to the forthcoming trailer in GOW III disc. We only know that's unlikely to have Porsche and this photos doesn't change the previous scenario.

Oh ,well in that case:bowdown:Porsches :D

Another 918 Spyder (with the GT PSP screen):

I assume that the Track select screen from GT:PSP is the copyright property of Sony Corp/PD.

If that is the case, wouldn't it be illegal for Porsche to use it to promote themselves without Sony Corp/PD's permission?

Perhaps Porsche is the reason for the Production delay. :sly::crazy::sly:

I was thinking about that too, but why they would use GT PSP screen on a prototype? Just announcing the partnership seems more reasonable to me. :banghead:

If they want us to unveil the patnership by ourselves, they're doing it right. :D

I agree with you, Custer85.

It is an official photograph. It's just....wrong. Things like that can happen.

None of the photographs are "straight out of the camera", they've all been tweaked and messed about with in Photoshop by whoever Porsche hired to work on/take the photographs. In this case, as it's been mentioned before: the person doing it decided it was easy enough to take the screen from GTPSP, because...it looked cool? I have no idea.

It is a concept car, likely the gauges don't work properly if at all. And they certainly wouldn't have a final version of the computer functions in a concept car.

It is the in video, because the only times you can see it clearly are when they are simply using the photographs and are just moving them around a bit.

I highly doubt this has anything to do with Gran Turismo, more due to whoever Porsche hired to do the photography.

Taken from Autoweek article on the Geneva Show and the 918 Spyder:

"Finally Porsche has confirmed that the concept’s look is not just a technological showcase. The interior of this car is set to dictate the look of the next generation of Porsches, beginning with the next 911 in 2012."

And the plot thickens....

Tomaz posted it allready, but i will post it again, just because some people seem to have forgotten it:

This is a screencap from the video on the website and it shows a completely different layout of the screen.
I think the picture is photoshoped, while the video appears to be real. The other thing is, that the GTPSP Screen shows the layout of the Nordschleife, while the other pictures show the whole Nürburgring, including GP and Nordschleife.

I would really like to see some kind of cooperation between PD and Porsche, but as of now its just speculation.

I don't think Porsche will release somethin within the next few days reguarding this picture, just because they might not be aware of the impact it had on GTPlanet and soon on other forums. It might even end up as "news" on some website.

Here is another official picture of the 918 spyder concept, at least its from the same photoshoot: (huge picture)

This picture seems to be from the showfloor, sadly the resolution is quite low:

But sadly none of these pictures show the activated screen.

edit: In the end both pictures could be real/fake. Maybe they just show different menu screens?! who knows...

I never saw so many people getting so horny over such a tiny detail :)

Anyways, this is a silly way to divulge information, so I am somewhat skeptical. But it'll be amazing if this is true.
