Car manufacturers (from the PAL lists - didn't check for differences) from previous games, minus those confirmed for GT5 and those containing P, V or K.

EDIT: bugger, missed a few! Ignore Opel, Spoon and Chaparral
And add in Mercury and Scion... (?)

Ok, following my thinking line here, and assuming I am correct, and after checking and comparing the car lists for the past GT games (from the guides in GTPlanet), and cross checking them with GTpsp car list (from www.us.gran-turismo.com), the "new" car Famine's been mentioning is from one of these manufacturers:

MG (GT2&4)
Tickford (GT3)
Tom's (GT3&4)
TRD (GT3)
Autobianchi (GT4)
Caterham (GT4)
Holden (GT4)
Jay Leno (GT4)
Land Rover (GT4)
Mercury (GT4)
Nike (GT4)
Triumph (GT4)
Auto Union (GT4)
Ford Australia (GT4)

These are the manufacturers that were in one (or more) games of the series and that haven't been yet officialy mentioned as in GT5 (seen on screenshots), neither do make an appearance at GTpsp.

Assuming that this mystery car must be of some relevant manufacturer to cause this "hype", we could exclude some of these, since they aren't likely to produce such a car or even do has a remaining range in their catalogue (present or past), as Famine's mentioned - stating that its inclusion (car) was indication of likeliness of the remaining range being included.

So this leaves (my guess) with a smallet short list: MG, Caterham or Triumph.

My bet would be that the car Famine's talking about is the Caterham RSTV8 Levante!

Also, Triumph contains a 'P'!!

I feel your pain, I've been there (thrice!) :dopey:

Hmm, maybe Famine knew about this car for weeks, but he saved the announcement of the info for a moment like this: The latest news thread is in a completely idle state, this thread was getting very exciting, exactly as watching a chess match. Nice work to increase the forum movement by the way. ;)

he does know, he just can't tell.

He 'can't' or won't? I think there is a big difference. I know there is some kind of agreement between press and their sources to respect secrecy clauses. But people, this isn't nuclear warfare or a cure for cancer; it's a game. Honestly, what dire consequences could arise from revealing one single car that is known to be in the game?

Famine has already declared that he will not let us know even if someone guesses correctly. Which leads me to think that Famine's original post has absolutely no point other than to show off that he knows something that we don't.

At least this made research the car lists of past games and made me learn that Lamborghini was present already back in GT3 (NTSC version) - which I didn't knew :dunce:

Besides, it is fun to try find something starting from limited hints 👍

So, back on topic... either Caterham or MG (didn't MG had quite recently a new prototype racing at Le Mans?)

 I'd love to drive the MGA around the ring - hood off

Both.

I know there is some kind of agreement between press and their sources to respect secrecy clauses.

I'm not a member of the press. Which is why I don't require an agreement to respect the privacy and wishes of sources.

Honestly, what dire consequences could arise from revealing one single car that is known to be in the game?

Would you risk your career for it? Lest you think that is dramatic, imagine trying to get a job when one of your referees fired you for industrial espionage.

The risk isn't yours to take. Nor is it mine. I will respect the wishes of the sources.

Since that's all I ever do on GTPlanet. I never bring people information they didn't know before, or help out with lists and guides. I certainly don't give up any free time to help ensure the site runs smoothly for all. I'm so mean and selfish.

My post served two purposes. The first, to let people know there was some news. The second, to allow them to discuss some news - as opposed to discussing no news, which has been the norm since December 2007.

Besides, it looks like some people are having fun trying to guess the car.

You know something that we don't. That's not news.

Tomorrow will be the "Long Night of the Museums" in Stuttgart, Germany. The Mercedes-Benz museum will be open starting 18:30 and former f1 champion Mika Häkkinen will drive the Nürburgring on the GT5-simulator.

Agree completely! Be careful how you continue from here or we will all have to hear how he is the most knowledgable guy on the planet again, It seems to be his crowning achievement and loves to let people know this!:ouch:

Nice one, are you going?

Is this news worth of being printed on a paper? No, they are not. It lacks a series of journalistic rules (confirmation, double-checking) to be put out on the streets.

But this is a fan-based discussion forum, where people spend most of the time debating for things as non-sense as the shades mispositioned on a screen shot.

Someone who apparently has access to inside information knew something new and shared, as fas as it is possible at the moment this with us. In my perspective, its good. You're entitled to not agree and think this is rubbish. But you always have the option of not reading it and discuss it.

If, for example, I told you that I'm a Sony representative, besides a fan, and I had word on the final release date but wasn't allowed yet to leak it - wouldn't you like to know it? Just to have confirmation that a date is already set? I know I would, because as far as we know at the moment, the date might even not been settled yet...

BTW - I'm not a Sony representative!

I hope we don't get another SLS ring video .

10 pages with pure nonsense, time to change subject anyone? Famine won't tell us which brand he's talking about anyway. Instead of nagging about what brand he's talking about, be glad that a brand will return to the GT-series:)

He can't. Your view on it is your own, you want the info and you're going to say what makes sense to you. However, he was told something secret by someone. If that gets out, that person can lose whatever privileges that got them that info. Satisfying some fanboys and telling them early info, is not worth the trouble.

Seriously. It should be sufficient to know that we're going to be able to drive 1000 freaking cars! That's almost like all previous car lists from all racing games combined. That should be good enough for most people.

Most sensible people anyhow... ;)

It's being held at Mercedes Museum. In Germany. Driving the Nurburgring. Is there any option besides the SLS? (with or without mispositioned bumper shades, that IS the question) :dopey:

Haha don't kill the hope but altleat Mika can actually drive well in GT5 (I think)

I have a feeling where this info is coming from

Aston Martin

is my guess (though a DB9 is in one trailer)

BREAKING NEWS I think the Gow 3 european version of the trailer is on GT TV

GT5P's GT TV (PAL) has had that trailer for a while now, unless there is a second version been released on PAL GT TV?

You think or you know?

I downloaded the normal version before but just now I opened GT TV and found out that I had to download it again and in the description it says

Some parts have been edited in this video

So I am downloading it now and we shall see.

and yes I have the PAL version.

I don't really know about a second version, I mean really there's just one trailer for it of its type and that's about it...

Yes the GOW 3 trailer is already in GT TV but today I found out some parts have been edited so I am downloading it now to see what has been edited.

Oh that, I noticed that a few days ago and re-downloaded it, didn't notice anything different.

Just watched again and still didn't notice any difference.
