What is and what's the difference between PAL and NTSC?

A bunch of letters. :D

Nah - refresh rate and resolution. It's less of an issue now that HD televisions are slowly taking over, but for older tv's NTSC is 480 lines at 60hz, PAL is 576 lines at 50HZ. It meant that megadrive games had big fat borders top and bottom.

Does anybody know what is the frequency that physics in GT5:P run? Physics in Forza 2 and 3 runs at 360Hz.
I'm asking about Prologue because i don't thik there's any info about full GT5... but I think it will run at the same frequency as in Prologue.

Graphics run at 60fps (30fps on replays) but what about physisc?
Forza also runs at 60fps but its physisc run at 360Hz.

I don't believe Polyphony has ever stated how many times GT updates it's physics per second. If I were to make a guess though, I'd say it's probably the same rate as the graphics update: 60 times per second.

Forza 2 and 3 update their physics 360 times per second. This does create more precision, but ultimately it's not really practical. The graphics only update 60 times a second, so ultimately each visible frame is the end result of 6 instances of physics calculation which, when all is said and done, probably won't differ much from if the frame only represented 1 instance of physics calculation.

Sure, it'll be slightly more accurate... but it's the equivalence to the difference in using 3.1416 in a calculation and using 3.14159

^^If only we really did get 60 GT updates per second :P

'Just downloaded the latest patch, should be awesome with all these new cars and tracks, can't wait to get my hands on that F430...oh wait, another 46 patches to download, I'll be done probably in a couple of days...but then I'll have to download the other patches, so don't expect me online anytime soon mate.'

That would be crazy. And Kaz would turn mentally unstable.

I really hope the cars sound better than the previous games. Because they were extremely repetitive in the past. Also if you watch the part of the GT5 trailer when the NASCAR drives off, it sounds nothing like a NASCAR, but more like a tuned up Honda.

I want the exhausts to be more alive, more louder, more realistic.

Wouldn't it be funny if that happened and on the side is, who else, Translator Guy scribblin' in his notepad, thinking to himself "I told him not to do it, but oh no, this is "The Real Driving Simulator" now look where it's gotten him." :dopey:

Yeah, lol, his Real Driving Simulator would certainly live up to its name...for driving people crazy.

And that Translator Guy is a legend.

It's not that simple when it comes to iterative simulation algorithms... it may well make the difference between realistic or unrealistic behaviour at least in corner cases.

I'd be surprised if GT5(P) didn't do more than one iteration of physics calculation for each frame it renders.

We allready saw the physics of GT5 on GT5P(they can change, but we now the basic physics).
So, why botter about how many calculation per frame the game do ?
I think the GT5P physics are good, so for me, don't matter how big the refresh rate on physics calculation are.

I guess the taillights are designed like that because of the Nissan Stagea, which basically was a Skyline Wagon.

I like it, just like i always liked the Stagea.

Didnt they share some engines from the Skylines with the Stagea?
I also know one with a GT-R R34 frontend.

EDIT: Okay, ive just read that was a tuning thing and not really from Nissan.
But it also shared the 4wd with the Skyline.

If they really want to comapre GT5(P) and F3 - they need to catch up a bit with car modeling first - because those games are not about shadows...but about cars. Le Mans with 8 cars on truck...yayx sound like a lot of fun :/.

When i first looked at the picture that you have taken from GT5P, I was wondering if the first pic was a photo taken from somewhere else but after further examining, I found out that the first pic was actually GT5P! I could not believe how real the rear lights were modeled compare to F3 and I never knew that it was so real.

Okay. This is not the first time I read something like this. To all of you: saying something like this is a good reason to call you GT fanboys. Besides, come on guys: isn't the GT5:P tag at the beginning of each image posted along with a Forza 3 one enough for you to realize it's an actual GT5:P image?

Besides, graphics come in a second place. Physics are the most important thing in a driving simulator. And until both games come out, we won't be able to compare.

I have a feeling that we have to wait for this game for another 6-7 months.............my interest is fading..............................

Just like everybody else, who say they are losing interest! When the game hits the shelf you will be on it, fighting to get your copy!:sly:👍

While this is true, I don't think anyone would deny that they would be upset if GT5 took a step down into Foroza territory. On top of that, I have to reiterate how simlike Prologue is already. Sure, a thing or two could stand polishing a bit more, but if anyone said that Gran Turismo isn't making huge strides in physics and feel, they would clearly be lying.
