All the great sounds in the world don't matter a whole heck of a lot to me if there are only 8 cars racing on the track.

I am familiar with the arguments- that we saw 16 cars in a Nascar video, and have recently seen 10-12 in other trailers, but if you can fit 16 cars on the track in a trailer, why aren't there 16 cars in the actual gameplay footage?

Remember back to the first GT HD trailers shown at E3 5 years ago? It had 25 JGTC cars all on the track at the same time, racing, with animated pit crews, all at the same time.

Remember also when you first raced in the rain in GT3? The track glistened, the cars slipped around realistically, the rain was beautiful... but none of that mattered because there were only 2 cars on track. It was nice to look at but not a lot more fun than doing a time trial alone.

All of this post is pure supposition, but I'm just saying that I see a relationship between the improvement of graphics, sound, damage, etc. on one hand, and a decrease in the number of cars on the other.

Given the choice (and I must emphasize this is just personal reference), I'd much rather race at Le Mans with a full field than I would with a rumpled bumper, rain on the windshield, and the buttons on the steering wheel modeled perfectly, but while racing only 7 other cars.

I just want to go racing.

I think in this situation it's more a matter of "we don't want to show all the cars yet". They only want to show 8 Super GT cars at the moment, then that's what we see.

Just think over this whole discussion, about not perfect driver animation (its not perfectly smooth and what ever), not perfect car reflections (they even change by the intensity of light...so whats wrong with that?) and a thumb glitching through the steering wheel. its just so unbelievably annoying and YOU WONDER, why gt5 takes so long? its the endless whining of you, about things, that are even implemented, but not ABSOLUTELY perfect...

I totally agree with everything you said!

We can but hope, but PD's tight-lipped behaviour has historically been a mixed bag of hidden treasure and downright "disappointment" (e.g. data logger in GT3 and online in GT4 respectively.)

👍 thank goodness I was starting to think I was the only one that still cared about AI and total number of cars!

Totally possible. I really really hope you're right, too... :)

Maybe it's just because it's a specific build for a game show... I'd buy that

Seems PD missed the raw cackle of the exhaust (caused by long-duration exhaust timing and high-octane fuel), other than that the tone is spot on.

What is missing in general is the way the drivetrain shudders with gear changes and abrupt throttle work, and of course that insane environmental reverb that makes the announcer (via the PA system) sound so "distant" and barely intelligible...

They confirmed 16 players online again back at the TGS while the demos there had less cars too. If there are 16 online, there will be 16 offline as well. Im pretty sure there would be even more if it wouldnt kill the performance of the game.

Dont forget that these demos are all work in progress, even the cockpits are still buggy in these builds (the dials in the SC430 dont work and the shiftlights are wrong, in the NSX the speedometer doesnt work and so on).

Hes right though, the engine is amazing, echo, doppler, wind, all sound perfect, just the engine sounds themself are lacking, but we have a "Sound in GT5" thread...

Now, to address the idiots who may think we're simply defending GT for no other reason than blind defiance
The audio engine is really impressive (in my opinion)

And that opinion of yours doesn't make you an idiot now does it?

So, why address to people who have a different view from yours as "idiots"?

Please don't misunderstand, whilst you're right in that people who think I'm being a zealot are entitled to their own opinion, and are entitled to live without fear of being called an idiot, the implication that I am a zealot is idiotic.
I'm happy to hear other people's opinions - in fact it's time we had some new arguments, I'm getting tired of the same old stuff - it just gets me that people can be so single minded in their own approach to these fora...

One thing G.T.Ace missed is the delay in the sound reaching the observer (although I think it's buggy - in-car collision sounds on London and Daytona seem to lag for me) - it's a weird effect, but impressive all the same.

Good to hear , so what do you guys think, will we se the updated/final Circuit de la Sarthe there?

I say that would be pretty likely. By a large showing of GT5 there though I assume just a lot of stands which people can play the game at. With E3 a few days later they won't be announcing anything there.

It's quite possible. I'd say almost certain. They would look like idiots taking another demo of Tokyo R246 to the Circuit. I can't wait for Le Mans week! GT's information and Audi's revenge!

There is a difference between recording sound coming from speakers and sound coming from the real thing. When you record sound coming from speakers it becomes distorted.

You're wasting your time. I said the exact same thing 3 months ago and the same exact people are posting the same replies now as they were then.

They record their sounds on a dyno. These are also mostly cars that CAN'T be abused. You will not get the drivetrain shudder unless they use some POS car and abuse it, then put that sound, modified, onto all other cars. That would just piss off more people.

Le Mans 24 H hint day n night cycles:)

Exactly. To me it's the only track or race that would require day/night cycle (and maybe the 24hr of Nurburgring). If it's ON, then I hope PD includes several 24hr scale- ie. 60, 120, 240 min so that those less inclined (and with less time on their hands) can still get the experience.

Well, that's precisely not the way to do it - because it'll sound the same each time. It's caused by the same thing from car to car, so it can be faked with an rpm modulator whose frequency varies according to the engine response of the car in question - perhaps...?

For me Le Mans race will be parametrable with 24H/laps time.
For exemple online Le Mans race=
- Number of players: with or without IA: xx
- Time condition/laps: 10, 20, 30, 40... 100% laps for 24H. (For exemple you can play the totaly 24H in 1H30 race with accelerate day, night, day time).
- Méteo/weather condition: No humidity, 10% humidity, 30%, 80% ect... (accelerate or not).
- With/without pit stop.
- Cathégorie cars/PPH...and Proto with or without normal class car.
Ect...

Option(S) is the way for all races all player and all style.
