And the next video from mimaximax:

I said it before, but have the PD's animators based their character movement on a human or on a robot??:scared: When he shifts gears, it's all done kinda in fazes, not in one natural/fluid motion, also too slow...
While the view is from aside, facing the character, you can see some excellently made trees passing by in the windows.......if it was '95!👎
On a brighter note, love the way that swirly cable flexes as he's turning the steering wheel!:dopey:
I guess they are freaks about details, some more then others though...

Hasn't the shifting issue been discussed many times. Its done the way it is so the shift isn't un-humanly fast, it works just like prologue. When a shift is about to happen the driver takes his hand off the wheel early then as soon as you make the shift he shifts.

Name me one racing game with many realistically looking 3D trees with no LOD 2D-3D transition [which always sux in fast motion games], just one.

This music over the videos is really irritating.

Anyway, with all these cool new demo videos, I still don't think we've seen the true GT5 yet. Which is concerning

sound fail.(again)

shifting:

The action is about 2x-3x faster in reality. reality=1-1.5sec / GT=2.5-3sec(while also looking unnatural)

newest arta nsx replay with sound:

^Yeah, the GT driver is always cool as ice no matter what. Wouldn't it be better if they speed up the hand animation a little bit more?, all racing driver shift lighting quick anyway.
Sound never been a strong point of GT, I guess it will stay the same with GT5 :(

I don't know, despite the sound of the ARTA NSX in the GT5 video above, I still don't think these are the final sounds. I mean, even the 370z tuned car had more transmission whine in the time trial demo, and yet that race car in the video doesn't have much, if any. I hope I'm right when I'm saying that they don't have all the layers of sound for the race cars in those videos...but if those are the final sounds...then I'll probably be slightly disappointed.

But again, who knows how old this actual demo build is...

After watching that NFS Shift video, I went through some of the other car models like the Z06, CCX, F1, Ford GT, etc. How vicious! They definitely went after the sensory experience of racing in beast machines. And boy did they succeed! The sense of speed is absolutely present at all times. And the sounds...o lalala.

Still, GT5 is what I anticipate. But again, those sounds. Lovely.

all the Shift sounds are distorted, and I hate distortion in my sounds, all I want is clean, full sounds of an engine under load. Judging by the Time trial, they are there, so I figure we haven't heard the real deal GT5 yet, except the Time Trial cars, and the SLS, FT-86, and IS-F
Just witness how bad the IS-F sounded in GT5:P, it had that strident top end that hurts my ears, vs the IS-F in the data logger videos which sounds like the real thing

If the video didn't come from PD's web site then it most probably isn't an indicator of what GT5 is like, and most likely an old build with place holder sounds, physics and graphics

And no point in comparing a road going NSX to a Super GT NSX, they don't use the same engines, same body and exhaust systems....

I'm sorry, but the constant nagging about the sounds, cardboard trees and animations is really starting to get on my nerves. One, who cares about the stupid trees when you're supposed to be paying attention to driving the damn car. Second, we can't judge the sound of the cars off of a freakin' YouTube video. And third, so the animations aren't perfect. If you think you can program it better, why don't you apply for a job at PD and put your expertise to work, eh?

Those posting the videos, thanks. They are reassuring me that this game is going to kick major ass and I cannot wait to play it. For me it's all about the cars, the tracks, and the physics. Because GT is not just a game to me, it's a resource for perfecting my driving skills when I cannot be on a race track. 👍

GT5 is going to kick ass but that does not change the fact that the sounds suck. The cardboard trees, the laggy shift animations we can all live with, but the vacuum cleaner sounding V8s/v12s kills it all for me. Will it change before release? IDK but at this moment in time the sounds are absolutely horrible and will be one of the downsides if not fixed. This is all IMO so don't freak out

Well that's in your opinion. In my opinion, most of them aren't *that* bad and I can live with it. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I find the tire noises to be very dynamic and informative. That noise is quite useful, since we lack the basic feeling of G-forces.

And this is why the sound is somewhat important. It's not just ear candy to polish up the game, but it's an ingredient in the gameplay.

I agree that we can't be making judgements off of YouTube videos that aren't even direct captures. But lets be honest, the engine sounds haven't improved at the same rate as the graphics. In almost every other area, GT goes all out. The sounds, however, seem to stop at 'good enough.'
