Thanks for that! I don't know if I should, but I really enjoy Inside Sim Racing's reviews, etc. - I just love their honesty!

Anyway, about the only thing that gets me excited about rFactor 2 is the admission of concentrating heavily on the tyre model (implying it needed revising, which it did), having a flexible and (almost) comprehensive weather system, that will hopefully just "work" with mods, and I suppose the more sensible UI.

Certainly looking forward to this more than GTR 3. Though I'm looking forward to the '64, '67 Sports cars; '67, '70 Can-Am; '37, '51 F1; Caterham / Lotus 7 and Lotus Cortina mods for GPL far, far more than either ISI-powered "title"...

Basically, if GT5 can deliver on the physics front, I'll only need that and GPL :D

Unless I was doing something wrong, I found it very easy to overstep that limit in almost every turn. I felt like if I turned the wheel just a bit to far and gave it just slightly too much gas....around I went every time.

I don't want to play like that. It's not fun.

This is what I think. The limit was veeeeeeeeeeery easy to cross in my case, it was hard for me to do a lap without spinning, I had to be veeeery careful with the throttle. It's not that I dislike it, I find it realistic and somewhat thrilling, I just wish I had more practice so I can enjoy it instead of suffering it. However, this happens to me as well in Prologue with FR/MR cars, so I take it as just a lack of experience by my side (Though I don't think this can be said about you R1600).

I believe the Demo physics are quite good, a little improvement on the tyre model and GT will be up there with the big guys.

Sorry if this video already has been posted. Yeah, I know that the video looks similar to a video we saw before

Totally agree. It was fun up to a point, but when I never got more than one lap in without spinning it became frustrating very quickly. Prologue being the exact opposite. If I get a car sliding from pushing it too hard and correct it after a nice slide, always puts a smile on my face. TT Demo, not so much.

More a problem with the crappy pedals on the DFGT. As soon as you lightly rest your foot on the pedals your already at 50% brake and throttle. 50% brakes will just about lock your wheels in most other sims without ABS, and 50% throttle is quite a bit when your tyres are already loaded
Squash ball under the brake pedal will help, but you can't stiffen the spring on the accelerator much

That's why I'm going for a wheel upgrade. Either a 2nd hand G25 with it's better and stiffer pedals, or you can spend big bucks on a ECCI pedal set for the DFGT, if you want to keep the wheel :)
They plug into Logitech wheels, and have an optional load cell option for brakes to give the feel of a real car. And spring tension on all pedals is adjustable separately for preload and maximum force to fully depress. So it can be set so that even resting your foot on a pedal doesn't trigger it.

The other option is a G25 + 3rd party Brake load cell upgrade, and then move brake spring to clutch pedal, and clutch spring to accelerator pedal = sorted :D

I had the same issues as R1600 but with my G27. Although the blame in my case goes to the daft lead-foot behind the wheel (ME! :dopey:). However, if I were you I'd consider a G27 instead of those ECCI wheels for a reason...the price. Did you even bother too look at the pricing list on their website?

http://ecci6000.com/6000_combo_01.htm

Prices start at US$989!!! That's the price of a PS3+G27+HDTV combo!!! :ouch: Oh, and prices go all the way up to US$1448 if you want the 3-pedal set with other stuff I don't make sense of. And let's not even begin with compatibility issues...and the fact the ECCI doesn't come with an H shifter :P. Though, those pedals look perfect (specially with that upper hinge design!!! and the footrest ).

the pedals by themselves aren't that much, but yeah not cheap :)
300-500 or so, and you plug them into your Logitech wheel.
If you get the one with clutch then you can buy an extra cable so it will work with both a DFGT and G25 later on if you upgrade etc. Not sure on G27

Rfactor 2 is also in production btw.
Are they going to bury functions in a menu system as convoluted as an ant nest again? :P

I do have a lot of respect for GTR, rFactor and Live For Speed, but the problem is that the dynamics of racing are pretty stale and sterile. Plus, from what I recall of rFactor, the cars felt like the old spindle physics, where everything revolved around the center of gravity. And the menu system was utter hell. It took me 45 minutes when I first got the thing running to figure out how to set manual transmission! Having fake cars as in LFS doesn't exactly thrill me, it's okay, but it feels like a version of Toca with slightly better physics, but a user interface designed on the fly by some drug casualty.

The main problem I have with these sims, besides the graphics looking like first gen PS2 renders in HD, is that the scope of the games are so small. You have specific races you can do, and then... you can do them again. And again...

I also don't care for the detachment I experience. It's painfully obvious I'm racing in someone else's car. I don't feel any involvement with it, like I got hired as a last minute replacement and aren't even a part of the team. And most of the liveries in these games are just flat out blah. Plus, there's the non-existent music. This is where Forza and that other Forza, Ferrari Challenge, seem much more appealing to me.

Looks like I'm going to be stuck being a GT fanboy forever.

Does the ECCI pedals + G25/G27 wheel work on PS3 or just PC only?

It can plug into the DFGT or G25, and acts like the standard pedals in the Logitech wheel so it works on both PS3 and PC

Not sure if they work on G27, but I emailed em

Do you know rFactor has mods...??....a lot of them....!!! check rFactorcentral

Good post 👍

I laughed at that bit in bold :D

I have a load-cell on my G25 pedals - hadn't thought of swapping the springs, though I'm not sure I want to open them up again :scared:

Anyway, the load cell is brilliant, in short, and works absolutely fine with GT5:P (though you need to calibrate it on first starting the game, otherwise you won't have reliable brakes for the first corner - just start a time trial and mash the brake pedal as hard as you plan to for consistent braking.)

The throttle pedal is a bit annoying still, with about 10-15% coming in almost immediately, it can be a pain controlling powerful monsters on N3s. Maybe the spring swap will help, or I could adjust the spindle on the pot :sly:

After that, it's the shifter's turn for some application of "insta-sturdy" ...

2011? What is this in reference to? I don't see how somebody would be talking about a future date as though it were the present / recent past. It would make total sense if it were actually meaning 2010!

Source?

And I cannot understand a word they are trying to say.

"As of January 2011 we haven't eliminated our small production issue, further research was required but postponed due to horrible engrish."
Sounds like april fools joke.

Actual translation from some online thingies:
"We didn't remove the small problem that a further study was necessary to solve them although being disappointed, but postponed it till we abused technology in はよう perfection for's first one month of 2011."

"We, regrettable, in order to solve those, have not removed the small problem where further research becomes necessary, but the way until technology is abused completely, it postponed the first one month 2011."

Translation: "We encountered a small technical problem during production, which we couldn't care less to tell you what it is and we will sit on our lazy arses until January 2011, when our new computers arrive, before we start to resolve the issue."
That's how I read it, at least. ;)

Hope it's another awful April's fool tho.

For all of those who feared Aston Martin wouldn't appear in GT5, I just watched the Christmas day trailer again, and it shows an Aston Martin DB9 at Lemans in it.

Umm, both.

K then, my assumption is that someone wanted to make an April fool's joke but used an internet translator to translate an English sentence into Japanese. Then someone else or the originator used google to translate it back to english resulting in the completely broken sentence we have now.
