I hope the World Map isn't the centre of GT5. I want a career mode at the centre rather than separate Beginner/Intermediate/Endurance events.

There's so much potential for blending all the elements of the World Map together into a career mode.

But my question is: Will the dealerships be found in their appropriate countries/regions or will they be lumped under "Dealerships" like in Prologue? If you ask me, the latter is quite bland. I'd rather travel to Italy to purchase a 458 Italia rather than going to a silly little dealership icon.

I wouldn't be surprised if all dealerships were replaced by Kaz's Autoshop whereby you can ask a virtual Kaz whether the car you want is available and he smiles and says "soon, come back later perhaps next week, it will be even better then as i'm still working on it, just fixing some details".:D

Or he says, "the car is complete and can be released at anytime, however the keys are in a production delay. They will be ready soon." :sly:

Same question? Kaz is comparing GT5P, which many f us have, to gt5, which we have been told what to expect.
we know there will be 1000+ cars, we know there will be 70 tracks/layouts/variations.
Why think of it any deeper when the easiest thing to think about scale and diversity will be cars and maybe tracks.
Because we have no proof. Not yet.

If the license tests had prerequisites (i.e. for certain races to be completed) then it would resemble a career mode in that you have to progress in a certain way. I mean, Endurance races and Extreme events had prerequisites in the past, so to advance to the more prestigous events you had to have a few race wins under your belt and a good amount of time behind the wheel, but its not enough for a fully fledged career mode.

But I like the sandbox style gameplay GT offers. I would not sacrifice this to make way for a career mode. I would want both, and I think many people will agree with me.

Blend real life elements of a Racing Career, along with some TOCA(game)-like structure(disciplines, multi-class racing) and you have another 100+ hours of gameplay, but not at the expense of the original GTRPG.

However a career mode could be restricting to casual players because you cant just hop into another car and do your thing, you would have to stick with that discipline until you progress or abandon.

First to agree right here! 👍:)

My GT4 save file always corrupts itself, so the only fun in starting all over again is picking a different car. I'm used to start with a skyline R32 and then go to Japan Championship, last two times I went for a nissan PAO'89 and lightweight K cup and Toyota Supra '85 and Japan Championship, now I'm with a Nissan Silvia S13 ( beige, :yuck: ) and racing FR Challenge. That's the fun in the game, I can take many ways to progress since the beginning, until I get to Extreme Events, then Gran Turismo All Stars and finally the endurance races. :embarrassed:

I hope that the same happens to GT5, but with a lot more championships. And for god sake, I don't want to get any save file corrupted. At least I'll have dozens of GBs for backups. ;)

This, GT has always been about choosing you're own path and deciding when you want to enter certain events, not some pre-defined career mode.
The licences are there for learning, testing and proving your skills before you're allowed to participate in some events and progress to wherever you want to go.
Hope the majority agrees, and i'm fairly certain Kaz agrees.

FM3 has both, the career and the events mode... I like it... But the career mode is too boring... there are no motivation factors... You don´t get any special cars or something else... straight... It´s no real career mode for me...

The world map is also boring, whats the point there?
The best thing for me are the driving missions and the license tests...

It would be nice if we get some real seasons for example some real Nascar season with real points etc. or WRC season and so on...

Also I don´t wan´t to see all available cars with the start of the game... It would be better if you get some surprise cars if you won event x

Given the diversity of racing styles/conditions in GT5, it would be safe to say that a career mode in GT5 wouldn't, or shouldn't be boring. There's just so much potential for blending License tests, WRC, NASCAR, day/night racing events, Super GT, driving missions, specific weather races, etc into a really absorbing career mode.

By the way, I wasn't saying it should just be a career mode. Of course the separate events should stay as well; but that should no longer be the centre of GT5's mode as it has in the past. It's got to move on.

While there is no motivation, you do receive cars that would otherwise, take quite some time to obtain through the game's atrocious payout system.

duh.. I thought that entering race will give you experience and by that experience You can improve game ... i must be weird.:nervous:

+ D.Greenawalt actually admitted not being much of a car fan in general, rather more into Games.

I'd rather have the creator of my car game be an absolutely obsessed car freak and amateur racer than a W.O.W junkie, even if it means spending half a decade in development stage.

Do you have a source, because Dan has been a car fan for years & recalled that Gran Turismo inspired his first car & reason for being in the gaming industry.
"I'm in this industry because of Gran Turismo, let's just be frank," said Greenwalt. He then explained that Gran Turismo inspired his first "stressful" car purchase, a Mitsubishi 3000GT, saying that is was "a great car in that game, and I thought 'Oh my God, if I'm ever going to have a car, that's the car that I want.'" Then things got ugly.

Mclaren, where did you get that quote from, I would love to read the rest of that article and see what "got ugly".

As much as I'd like to, I won't. The GT fanboys would come screaming out of the wood works & I have no patience for them. I can send you a PM if you want instead.

If anyone can read Japanese, please send me a private message when you get a chance.

Yes, nothing too interesting, just something that I want to clarify. I've got someone now, thanks guys! :)

I sure hope that one day in the future after KY has 'retired' he goes to the effort of writing some kind of "Memoir's of GT" which reveals all the challenges and setbacks he has endured in his pursuit of his 'vision' totally uncensored . Would be an interesting read I think.

Yes, please do. I don't want to insult him, or bash him, or anything like that, I am just curious.

Sounds interesting, please, do share!
