Now that you brought it up:
I allowed myself to partake of last years pre E3 festivities, becoming fully immersed in the intoxicating affects of unbridled anticipatory excitement.
Only to recieve a sobering kick in the groin by Sony upon the start of E3.
There has been little in the preceding eleven months to ease the pain.

Forgive me in advance if my approach this year is in excess of temperance and caution.

Even though I'm hoping history doesn't repeat itself, just in case, I intend to keep my perspective one of closely gaurded optimism and as to belief;
"I'll believe it when I play it".

Just a word to the uninitiated Fanboys.

As i said one year ago : Prepare for the worst, hope for the best ;)

Still before E3 we were blown away by leak ;) 1k cars etc . Or it was before GDC ? :>

-> I like that little head-movement effect, it gives me a good sense of awareness on the cars motions!. :)

Those physics look pretty solid. Oversteer happened when it should have. Metzgesfeld is a very hard corner and if you do not have high down force is extremely hairy. Also I still do not see the problem with 2D trees when the game is in motion. Personally I do not think the Ring has ever looked better.

E3, expectations were sky high and began a steep decline afterwards.

E3 is around the corner, see what they bring out there. LeMans is even sooner, so I doubt we'll have to wait long for new content, new cars, new tracks. If they bring a demo to LeMans that is. I'm sure they will since Gran Turismo is usually a big sponsor, and Sony being sponsored on Peugeot's car as well. To me that signifies how big GT is. Hell they brought a demo to Nurb24Hours, LeMans 24Hours is even BIGGER! Everyone saying it'll struggle to reach 10 million, I bet when they announce a date, there'll be close to 2 million who pre-order it. Mark my words, GT5 will probably be the biggest game yet. I think there's a reason why he's waited this long to bring it out, the content must be extreme. Blu-Ray can hold a good deal of information.

Holy Cheese and crackers, we are just on week from E3 and there hasnt been any leak??

These guys know how to keep a secret. 👍

One thing you can count on with Kaz, there will be plenty of content.
You will get more than your moneys worth.

One thing encouraging on the sales front, MGS4 has sold right at 5 million games.
GT5 should sell as well, if not better than MGS4.

If the past have shown the previous GT games to sell as 10 millions copies at least...

then there is no doubt that GT5 will make at least, if not MORE than 10 millions copies...
i am affirmatively confident in thinking so.

wow $60x10millions = $600 millions ....
well not everything goes to Sony/PD/Kaz...
i wonder how much margin/profit the stores are getting or allowed to sell the game for...

Well you have not to forget that this 10 Mio, was worldwide, so it wouldn't be straight 600$. I guess even more. And still only revenue.

Does anybody know how big the profit on each copy in general for a copy is?

Yes considering prologue sold like 4.5 million, I'm sure it'll hit 5 million and surpass that.

About 36 million PS3s have been sold according to the wiki, so I'm a little skeptical about 1 in 3 people buying GT5. I'm thinking it'll sell more like 5 million copies, just to be a little more realistic.

^I guess you forgot about the article that said one third of the people that are going to buy GT5 have yet to even buy a PS3. So if you look at all the GT titles, the main ones, GT, GT2, GT3, GT4- the main titles have all sold at or above 10million. The only main title that didn't hit 10 million was GT2 that was around 9.3 million.

So for those thinking 10 million GT5 copies are out of question, that link gives you an idea just how popular GT is. GT3 over 14 million, and it was one of the 'smallest' GT games.

After having waited over five years for the game I think alot of people will buy it. I think it might sell more copies than any previous GTs.

Hey hardvibes, do you have the link for that vid? I can't watch it on my iPod, and I'd really like to see it :dopey: thanks!

Oh actually, could anyone be kind enough to put the actual link to the YouTube video? Thanks again :dopey:

Here is the comment by MIMAXIMAX (our faithful video supplier):

Gameplay of GT Nürburgring 2010 demo by a visitor driving the 2008 Dodge Viper ACR using a Driving force GT. Track is Nürburgring 24h layout/configuration with spectators around the track watching the race. There were only 8 cars on track but i'm positive there'll be more on final release.

I have no idea about the settings used in this video.

Physics seemed a little bit more like Time Trial Demo than what it was in GT5 CES 2010 demo.

Video recorded in 1080i from 1080p Bravia screen, using a tripod and a Canon Legria HF200.

Note : There were two demos around the Playstation truck running on PS3 Test : one time limited and the other with unlimited number of laps but none of them had the replay function. AI drivers now have names (selected randomly ?) : Titus, Grant, Shawn, Keagan, Jasper, Giovanni, Rodrigo, Keith, Haiden, Phoenix, Yahir, Humberto, Jimmy, Jason, Kai, Jayson, Russell, Jared, Milton, Carlos, Omari, Harper, Zachary, etc. I think it's part of the "more human IA experience" ; maybe one name is linked to one particular behaviour just like in NFS Shift. No more active stability management setting (ASM) in the option menu. Engine noises still sound a "little" poor. The sparks effect looked very poor to me as well, at least, we know sparks will be there.

Graphics seemed to have improved a little bit. Atmosphere around the Nürburgring changed, it was less yellowish than the one in GT5 CES 2010 demo (seasons changes ?). The whole experience felt more like PC sims, with subtle handling and accurate track details but low on effects or polygons ; whereas games like Dirt that have beautiful 3D moving trees and lots of visual effects but got an arcade handling.

Theres still no cross hand movement.
We saw it in early GT5P build in 2007.
I cant hear the sound of this monster.
