My point is further delaying the game doesn't automatically equate to the game being better than it already is or worth the cost of the delay. It may
actually be detrimental to do so.

I don't think that they aren't improving the game anymore ...Kaz once said that he could have hold the march release date, but the game wouldn't have everything he wanted in it. That tells me that the game has to have improved over the time.

How many of you are going to wait to buy a 3D TV or a motion controller to get GT5 and play it? Not me and not many of you I'd say. Well if the Fanboys aren't, who else is going to?

So why delay the game over it?
Sorry, I fail to see the justification for it, especially after this long a wait.
I rest my case.

Don't be so sure about the game being delayed only because of Move and 3D support, I for myself can't imagine that. And as long as there are no clues that could explain the delay it's pointless to argue and complain about it :)

Hey I'll be the first to admit I'm not sure of anything concerning this Game.

I can't imagine being at this point in time without a release date either, but here we are.
I sincerely hope your intuition is correct and we are not being forced to endure this seemingly endless duration for a trivial cause.

As to your last statement, I would prefer to call it pointing out possible ramifications to delay of game other than pie in the sky assumptions.
However under the circumstances, pointless as you may have judged them to be, theres not much else to do, is it?

More complainers. That's all this board seems to be now. I used to come here and see some logic, now we have nothing but guesses. And for the poster that tried to debunk my claims, you wait and see. TV is big with the 3D implementation. The TV is where the 3D is being displayed. The PS3 can produce along with GT5 any 3D it wants, but without technology to display it within the TV there's no use. So to sit there and say that Sony's TV's wont make a difference is false.

I didn't say that the PS3 and GT5 had no part of the 3D being displayed, but as good as it is, without the right 3D technology in the TV set, it's not going to look good. If you think Sony has waited to bring it's 3DTV's out to the market till this month for no reason then you don't understand Sony. They are first in picture quality according to many. And with 3D I won't be surprised if they make their TV's first in that quality as well. Sony does things right when they make their products. Much like Gran Turismo.

I'm always amazed when someone posts a different (other side of the coin) point of view, and they are branded argumentative, complainers and guessers too, simply because they do not totally agree with another point of view?
In reality there are pros and cons to everything.

First, I was not trying to completely debunk your claim. I merely inserted the "logic" of 3D TVs in the real world marketplace. It may revolutionize TV, it just isn't likely to do it overnight. As with any "new" technology it is usually more costly and takes time to make inroads into the marketplace. Sales volume will take time to establish. Overtime the price comes down and the volume goes up, but it usually takes several years. In this case with the limited availability of 3D viewing resources it probably will take longer than normal.
My point is by the time the TVs are sold in mass it will likely be too late to affect any appreciable difference in sales of GT5. As someone else already pointed out, accordingly 3D would be more logically a feature included in GT6.

Well there's something we can agree on. My gaming TV is a Sony and IMO the picture is second to none. I don't have any reservations about Sony's TV expertise.

My concern, as I've already stated, is that Sony may be taking liberties with what I consider the best VG series of all time, that could be detrimental to its reputation. I hope their intentions are strictly honorable, but if you don't mind, I like to question that from time to time.

naaaahhh it's pre-E3 madness ;) People just don't believe that on this E3 we will get GT5 ;)

There are 35.7 million PS3 owners as of March 2010.
At the time GT3 was released there were just under 15 million PS2's sold, and sold GT3 sold 14.89 million over its lifetime; GT5 will release with around 40 million PS3's sold. Sony don't need 100 million PS3's sold for GT to sell.

Epic quote. 👍

The console is still lacking a major racing game, Supercar challenge just doesn't cut it, GT can outperform GT3 sales with ease, everything depends on the initial critics and depth of the game.

Everyone knows GT is a long-term seller, beating MW2 in the first week? It won't happen, beating any other game in a 4 year span? Likely. Wheter people still cares about the game is irrelevant, after some months they will still buy the game, mostly due to tons of positive reviews and comments from friends. Hyped or not for E3, GT is still a major title and will make tons of cash for Sony.

I think whatever happens, we shouldn't be surprised either way.

If GT5 falls short of the "standard" 10 million figure, then it can't be to surprising given the increased competition there is; yet on the other hand, it's not inconceivable GT5 couldn't match, maybe even exceed GT3's sales, given the depth of content the game will have, and I suspect the Top Gear track will bring in a few more sales as well.

Plus, Sony are sure to bundle the game to absolute hell and back, like they did with GT3.

In my opinion it will reach 20 Mln. In time of GT4 release there was some world buzz going on but it was 6 years ago. For 6 years PD done great job in promoting GT. Citroen, SLS deal, GTR, and whole other galaxy of GT stickers, sponsorships etc.

GT as franchise was well known when GT4 was released. Now it's even more known.

well known = big sales
even more known = even bigger sales :)

NASCAR official license and damage model = A lot more sales in the US where the title struggled before in comparison to Europe.

I Agree with the nascar part of your story... but
you implicitely conclude that Americans are more violent?:P

The sales of GT5:P are an indication of just how powerful the GT franchise is. Say what you want but GT5:P really was nothing more but a glorified demo in comparison to what we expect in a full GT game yet had shipped 4.5 million.

4.5 million, no other Sony first game has got anywhere close to that. GT5 will sell 2-3 million in it's first month and then just keep on chugging along. Sales talk to occupy ourselves.........not long to go now people!

You forget another thing.GT5 is for *PS3* platform. It's supposed to be WAY more realistic, and have WAY better graphics than its predecessors! That's why it going to sell even better that all previous GT's (that's a secret of selling GT3, after PS1 games PS2 GT3 were like complete reality). All can buy GT just for graphics. It's like real = fun.

You guys are a bit overreacting, 20 million copies? Never.
I doubt it will top GT3 sales, it could sell around 10 million though, but even that is going to be difficult nowadays. The shootermania is still not over (see how good Modern Warfare 2 sold with all it's flaws).

Yeah, they can have a sort of... Destruction Derby :)

That's if the damage model is good enough.

We'll see that at E3, just two seconds, to show multiple colisions and fantastic rollovers. I'm quite sure preorders would grow instantly.

Yeah it does not stand a chance of reaching those kind of sales, an impossibility to put it lightly. To be frank I think it will struggle to 10M however do think it will reach it when all is said and done. GT really has made its own niche in the racing genre, nothing has and dare I say will touch it in terms of sales. It's like the Kart games, you lot seen how much the Mario Kart games sell? Mario Kart Wii has sold over 20M.

Forza 3 is a great game but had not come close to even GT5:P sales let alone the full GT releases. As I said Gran Turismo had its own little niche which makes it the go to game for racing sims, my dad is 50 now and has never played a video game besides all of the GT titles........also Mario games. :P

I wonder if Sony managed to negotiate some kind of advertising deal for NASCAR races. You'd like to think so, especially since NASCAR approached Sony first.

Only game that my dad play is GT series and FIFA and he is 45....👍

Haha, my Dad is a semi-retired gamer at 51 - he was the one who got me into GT, much to his (eventual) disdain :dopey:
He's a car nut, so only really plays racing games, on top of old-school arcade-type games that remind him of his youth :P
He was very impressed with GT5:P, though and loved the online aspect (a bit too much...)

My Granddad has always been impressed with the scale of the GT games (he's a race sim fan, though largely retired now!) and would happily join in with 2-player races on GT2! His main criticisms of GT were aimed at the sound, and the general disparity between the graphical quality of the cars versus everything else (i.e. the background).

Between them, they have a lot to answer for, with respect to my "wasted" youth! :D

My dad is 63 and GT is the only video game he will play. When I first showed him GT4 with the DFP he played for 3 hours straight, missed dinner and ended up getting a lecture from my mom. I will never forget it. I guess it was a his late midlife crisis (although he is stupidly healthy so he is probably only a little over mid way through his life).

lol  I can image what he will do when GT5 come out!!!

My dad is 62, a retired mechanic, and a mild/severe stroke survivor. Even though everytime I call him over to listen to a Corvette or Ferrari (he has owned one of each) engine, he acts like it's stupid, but I know deep down he's in hog heaven.

Breaking news!
This is the reason for GT5's delay!
It's a speshul accessory!

What crap this is...
And how they can sell it with a straight face is beyond me...

Now that you brought it up:
I allowed myself to partake of last years pre E3 festivities, becoming fully immersed in the intoxicating affects of unbridled anticipatory excitement.
Only to recieve a sobering kick in the groin by Sony upon the start of E3.
There has been little in the preceding eleven months to ease the pain.

Forgive me in advance if my approach this year is in excess with temperance and caution.

Even though I'm hoping history doesn't repeat itself, just in case, I intend to keep my perspective one of closely gaurded optimism and as to belief;
"I'll believe it when I play it".

Just a word to the uninitiated Fanboys.
