Ditto chepu, I don't know what happened, everyone was eagerly waiting for E3 and a release date, the forum was surrounded by positive hype, many ( including me ) stated that a release date would be enough and then, PD gives us awesome new details and bring some clarification on the cockpit issue and many people start to post useless rants at PD and flaming and trolling everyone who dares to disagree. C'mon GT5 is still just a game, PD is delivering us the a gorgeous pack of new features and 200 awesomely detailed cars among with the rehashed GT legends that we love and are used to, I can't see from where all this whining and anger came from, since they're delivering almost pretty much we wanted.

Honeslty, I was looking forward to drive all the cars in cockpit view, but if that isn't possible, it's ok, the game still has a lot to offer and ignore all the greatness of the game just by nitpicking at details is just dumb.

It was maybe due to Sudden Dissapointment.

But Thinking it Clearly, Im Really Happy, If I had LOTS of Fun with GT3 which only had 150 Cars, Imagine how will that be with 200 Cars, Fully Customizable, Damageable and in 16 Cars Races with Day/Night System, Listening to my Own Music..

Now, Viewing it from that Viewpoint, Cant Realize why People are so Dissappointed.

And ofcourse I Expected More cars, but Im not angry/Utterly Dissapointed at PD.

Woot, Page 911!

I Just believe they would have to dedicate on Doing at least 200-400 More Premium Cars and Fixing whatever the People Find Horrible in GT5, and then Releasing it as GT6 or something like Super Street Fighter IV, and Ofcourse, On the PS3...Not PS4

The maths don't support this. Kaz said that it takes 1 person 6 months to make a single car. Therefore a team of 6 could make 1 car per month. That's 12 per year. 60 people could only make 120 per year and they don't have a year. They have probably got 3 months before content has to stop so the game can be finished. That's only 30 cars. 120 people could do 60 cars in that time period. PD just don't have the staff for 200-400 cars. Would anyone really be interested in waiting another 2 years for a game like this. Haven't we waited long enough as it is?

Well, Hire More Car Modellers, But remember, I was Talkin About a possible GT6 in 2012, which can be released at like November/December of that Year, I Guess if they Hire lets suppose 30 Modellers More, they could Do 300 Premium Cars...

So a GT5 with 300 more Premium Cars, Bug/Glitch Fixes and whatever they want to add could be a Good GT6 On the PS3 👍

Really? You expected more than 1000 cars? I was expecting a little less than 1000.

Seriously, why are you all so whiny? Did you not get your diaper changed or something? Like I've said before, if you don't like it, don't buy it, just shut up about it, 'cause the rest of us don't really care if you don't like it or not.

I mean, 1000 cars, changing night and day, real tire smoke, awesome graphics, damage...I mean with all the stuff your getting, complaining about something like no cockpit view or 800 "standard" cars just seems childish. It's like a kid who gets an ice cream cone, but it's not in the flavor he wants, so he throws a fit. There aren't too many bad ice cream flavors. and to get the bad ones, you have be looking for them. So, I say, just shut up and eat the ice cream and be happy you got anything at all.

Yeah, how dare they complain about 80% of their beautiful, promised cars being downgraded into something from 2004, overnight. Shame on them.
The ice cream comment is relevant how? I understand if the kid was promised 3 scoops of his favorite ice cream and then given one scoop of the flavor that gives him hives and makes him pass out.
The situation with GT5 is more like someone being offered a great job with benefits, a company car, 1 month vacation and a nice salary. Just to be told during the finalization process that the benefits are free twinkies, the company car is a 1980, the vacation is in Idaho, and the salary depends on how many bibles he sells in Hollywood.

Sorry My Bad, I wanted to Say More Premium Cars. :ouch:

As I've said previously some people are simply interested in collecting cars rather than the simulation of them.

Yes, thank you. I can still collect 1000 of them but when it comes to driving or anything else, how will these 800 standard cars be further crippled?

They're not downgraded, they're upgraded. You really think they'd simply port everything from GT4 into the game with a graphical update? Like PD and Sony have said. You're also forgetting that when PD builds a game, they start from scratch, so they aren't even ports.

Besides, THEY TOLD US THIS WHEN GTHD WAS COMING OUT! They specifically said that Standard cars would have less polygons and less detail back then, and yet, here we are, 2010, and people are just now going "what's with the standard cars?" as if they weren't warned four years ago.

All the whining is REALLLLLLLLY getting annoying. I believe this is the "NEWS and INFORMATION" thread not the "Who can 🤬 the loudest" thread. which, by the way, there's is a threat for that.

No, and I never said they did. I said they were downgraded compared to the other 20%. What I actually said about a 100 times before is that gt4 cars were downgrades of what we see with standard cars right now. We were told gt4 cars were modeled on a scale that the ps2 couldn't reproduce. How is that made from scratch?
WoW! They told us 3-4 years ago that there will be 2 different types of cars, which you didn't know either til you read it in the past day or two, and haven't mentioned it since, and that's fine? I wasn't following GT5 2-3 years ago, not even a year ago, and when I started catching up, that bit about GTHD didn't come up anywhere.
From what I read in the past week, there's maybe a handful of people that had even heard or remembered about premium and standard since gthd. Hell, when ANALOG mentioned this was a bit bothersome to him, then I would assume 99% of all other members would be a bit bothered by it.
1000 cars is still 1000 cars but the way things have come about during the past few days is just shady. It's like the Toyota fiasco all over again. They knew this and that and this but did nothing about it for some time til they got in trouble. Now PD are showing us standard cars, hours after E3 ended, on the japanese SONY site. Why didn't they show them at the beginning of E3 and then ended the show with a bang by showing the new trailer with a release date?

Actually, I did remember it. And I'm sorry for the rest of you that didn't remember or didn't follow GT when GTHD came out, but, they did seem pretty adamant about having super-high detailed Premium cars and somewhat detailed Standard cars back then. Doesn't surprise me they didn't change it. Even if GT5 had come out then, I'm sure the cars we're about to get in November would be the same if it had come out already.

And maybe they pulled a Darwin: Not publishing the whole "standard" cars thing, because they new people would whine and cry about it. I think that if GT5 came out with them only revealing the Premium cars and not even mentioning it, there would be less crying and complaining about it 'cause the one's who were upset would be the ones that would give the rest of us they're used copies.

I for one am thrilled by the prospect of 1000 cars. I mean, no other game am I going to dent and ding and scrap and roll and race around the Top Gear Test Track? It's all the little details that are hanging everyone up. yeah, 80% of the cars aren't going to be as nice as the other 20%, but it's 1000 cars. Sure there may not be cockpit views in some of them (which still really isn't confirmed, yet) but GT4 didn't have cockpits, either. It's not like you're so used to having a cockpit view or anything.

It's been five years and the making, and for those who keep saying they've left stuff out...what stuff? They didn't tell you that all the cars were going to have interiors, did they? They didn't say there was going to be 1000 premium cars, did they? I mean, it would seem that they haven't left out much. And all of the features still haven't even announced yet. and there's still five months to go. The game isn't even finished yet. How about we all wait until the final game comes out and then we can say what we like and don't like about it. I have a feeling, though, that there won't be that much we don't like about it in the end.

It is amusing yeah, but I guess it's only natural since we've been given the news that so much of the content we expected actually won't be finished for gt5.

Like what (besides the possible lack of interior view)?
Last I read reverse lights were a big concern.:dopey:

👍

I mean, there's still things in GT4 I'm discovering. Like, on some of the cars, when you're racing down a long straight, the windshield wiper vibrates like on a real car. I'm sure the same will be true for GT5.

I was referring to 80% of the cars being below the standard we were expecting. Don't get me wrong, I still think this will be a very good game.

But...why were you expecting that? They gave no....actually, does anyone actually know if there WILL be "Standard" cars? I mean they could have just mentioned it to mess with us. I mean, aeverytime they're mentioned they're in quotation marks. And we have yet to see and "Standard" cars in a menu. So, who knows. I think I'm going to wait until the game comes out to give a verdict.

I've agreed with almost everything you've said so far SuperShouden, but I doubt they are messing with us about the standard cars. I mean that standard car video pretty much confirms it. While I still think they look good enough, they definitely aren't the same as premium cars.

I'm still gonna enjoy this game to the fullest either way. 👍

I have seen some people say that the Prologue cars were premium... however if that is the case then that means that they will have full damage? (doors, hood, interior pannels coming off).

That dont make sense to me... or am I missing something?

yeah, I think the quotation marks just mean that when racing the two types of cars side by side, it'll be hard to notice the difference between them. I think the difference between the two will be in the details. I think Standard cars will have a cockpit, it just won't be nearly as detailed as the premium cars. I mean, as mentioned, every little stitch of the leather of fabric, the texture of the carbon fiber and plastic (in the case of the American cars...yeah, that stripe on the hood of the Challenger that looks like Carbon fiber, isn't...it's just painted to look like it.), every button and seem is rendered in the Premium cars. So, on the other side, I would assume that the "Standard" cars have a more generic interior. Where the leather might look a little fake, and the plastic will look like it belongs on a Toy Story character, but I'm sure, the detail will still be there, just not as much.

Same as me! 👍

I really hope so. I don't think it would take them too long to do something like that, especially if they didn't worry so much about the tiny details on the rest of the car.

On a different subject, I thought I read somewhere that everything from GT4 was thrown out and everything for GT5 was to be done from scratch. If so, then why would there be GT4 models in GT5?

Well in the E3 trailer, you clearly saw the Lancer, a car from GT5P, get damaged and in the special effects video on the Japanese GT site shows the RX-7, another car from GT5P, got damaged as well. Its safe to say that all the cars from Prologue will be premium. For some reason, I'm kind of eager to see just how detailed the damage on the Ferrari F2007 is. I know in F1CE, Suspension pieces, wings, nose and whole tires came off when they went into the wall.

There was someone a while back who won a trip to Polyphony and he had got a tour and a chance to race on their "Simulator" which he described as simply being a list of cars and a list of tracks. And, from the sounds of it, both databases were massive. This suggests that PD keeps the codes from every car and track they've ever made in this lovely database (and maybe some they haven't put in a game) and this way, when they build a new game, they can, if they want, add any car they've ever had in a game into the new game. Now, those cars probably don't have the same graphics that the new game does, so it probably takes some time to implement them. (although, from the sounds of what they've done in GT5, it would appear that they might have a program that automatically updates the graphics of the car.) But, then they go in and brush up the details and things. But who knows what's in those databases.

Shouden I believe "standard" comes in quotation marks because it's the name they've assigned to those models. Kinda like you would put it around McDonalds' "regular" or "super size" names for their meals. And come on, suggesting that they are doing this to screw with us is just silly talk

And sure, they never specified "all cars will have cockpit view" but they never said "we are going to join the finish lines of the tracks to the start so you can keep driving round and round them" either. Prologue has no "premium" cars and Prologue's cars all have interior as standard. Imo, it would be far more fitting to call the models "standard" and "sub standard"

That's my stand on it, but like I said, I still expect this to be a fantastic game. I'm making no judgments about GT5 as a complete game because we haven't seen everything yet. In fact, I have my own hunch that a certain feature is going to be unveiled that will eclipse this disappointment. But even if not, I'm not saying I'm disappointed in a game that doesn't exist yet, just disappointed with bad news about it.

This is pretty much I'm expecting, in my understanding there will be like 10 or 15 types of generic interiors, which apply to all the standard cars, and these interiors are shadowed by the tinted glass, so you can't really see the detail, but you'll see the hands of the driver lurking in a shadowed steering wheel, so they might have interiors.

Some people are waiting for a GTPSP'ish cockpit view, and I'm expecting something in those lines, but more detailed to include a steering wheel and a console, you'll just not be able to see the details due to the darkness, but a driver and a steering wheel will still be there, after all, it's PD we're talking about and they always excel in everything they do. ;)

I had said that a few pages back or in another thread.

There could be standard cock-pits for all the trucks/SUV's, vans, LMP cars, tiny box cars, etc. Not that hard (only about 10 or so needed). They just got to take into account the height and width of the car. What's harder to believe is that PD hadn't thought of that (or maybe they have).

Yeah. I mean, to mean, it doesn't make any sense not to include a cockpit view for all cars. Wouldn't it get a little annoying if you say went driving in an Enzo for one race and then jumped into one of the standard models and suddenly you're in like the chase view. you'd be like "Holy freakin' crap!"....I don't think that'll happen. I'm sure one, way or another, I'm sure there will be a cockpit in the standard cars.

And this is pretty much what happens to the GTR concept at Prologue, there's some WRS members which refuse to participate in some events, due the complete lack of cockpit view in that car, even knowing that the real car hasn't any interior at that time.
