I just ran across some information that I had completely forgotten about: Kaz/PD's first game was a kart-racer called "Motor Toon Grand Prix" That received a lot of praise because, from what it sounds like, he combined the mario-kart gameplay with more realistic physics and handling properties. So...go-karting might just make it in GT5. I sure it won't be Mario-karty, but it'll be pretty fun.

It's about to be re-released for PS3 on the PS Store and for PSP.

Edit: Plus ( I thought we read this somewhere) Kaz said he was remaking it after GT5......

so we would have GT5 by now if the don't have to develop such game

Oh Christ.

Let's not have that rubbish again.

It's common sense to keep working on other projects at the same time. It's a break from monotony (I need one every 6 minutes or so) and it's not as if there's something for everybody to do on GT5 all the time. Multi-disciplinarity does not truly exist outside of "the forces", where sudden loss of manpower is expected.

Each employee does literally only one process. Once all the menus are done, then what? They don't just take a 4.5 year holiday. No, they work on the next thing. Freshness of tasks is a real boon for productivity across the board.

It's common sense.

I'd love to see GTs of old remastered for the PS3, but frankly that is stretching my point (above) such that it might begin to irk me!

Anyway, aren't we still waiting on that software emulation for PS2 games?

How about the Gran Turismo Collection: GT1, 2, 3, and 4 all digitally remastered in Full HD with trophies for the PS3. :P

Gamestop has their Pre-order Bonus cars...yeah Cars with an s:

Oh jeez, I hate all these pre-order bonuses.
But these special GT cars make me hope that the customization in the game will be good.

Did you notice during Jack Tretton's stage speech during E3, when he stated how great a seller the PS2 still was.........

I took that as, "not yet".

But then he stated that they still have games being developed for the PS2....

So, why not if there is a market for the $20 games? Maybe parlay the PS2 market to the new consoles? 💡

I don't know.....just typing out loud.

sadly I think that the PS2 is still on the market(console)

But I'm hoping, the pre-order bonus cars (colors) for GTPSP were later available as free DLC, hope it will be the same with GT5.

Most of them probably will be. Cars like the GameStop GT5 NASCAR might be exclusive liveries available to GS pre-order peeps (like me)

But, something tells me that A livery editor will be amongst the features. And...maybe the ability to turn your car's body into carbon fiber. Or the Carbon fiber cars might be like the Recon Armor and Flaming helmet in Halo 3.

The pre-order bonuses will either be useless or useful.

Why would they be useless? Having 5-6 super cars from the get go is definitely not useless.

Me too!

The real question: how much of the customisation is constrained to the "not standard" models?

I think wheels and spoilers just like GT4. Then about the same level TUNING as GT4. I hope it's more than just sliding a bar like gt5p. While both have the same end product, just knowing that you "installed" a new exhaust, or new cams, somehow feels more than achieving the same power gains when using the slider. Visual differences add even more to the depth.

It will be cool to have a tuned McLaren and a NASCAR right off the bat, though. :P

I've already preordered the Collector's Edition, but those cars are going to do nothing but sit in my garage until I accumulate enough money to theoretically purchase them legitimately. The CarRG game is the element of GT that I enjoy the most, and as such I don't want to be given a boost in my in-game career. :)

Kaz already mention that there would be MORE customization than GT4

But with the model separation, you have to believe PREMIUM cars will have a higher level of customizing.
Kaz saying more customization could easily mean that instead of just wheels and wings like in GT4, you could add front splitters splitters. That's more visual upgrades than GT4 right there.
GT4 had a nice number of available upgrades but the upgrade system itself was "lacking". You could add turbos, exhausts, intakes, differentials but it didn't really add that to the game for me because the upgrades weren't visually represented. When I did all the upgrades on my real cars, I could see the new motor, the headers, all the suspension components.

I am sorry but that is not a "Nationwide" car. Notice the splitter in front? Nationwide does not run that configuration yet. Although "Gamestop" is one of Joey Logano's Nationwide sponsors, they have put their livery onto a "Sprint" cup car.

Huge NASCAR fan, have a photo of me shaking "The Kings" hand, and am excited and looking forward to running those big/fat/heavy, no mechanical grip slippery pigs. We ran JGTC cars in a GT4 LAN event at Motegi Speedway and three of us had a NASCAR style back and forth battle lap after lap. Although I must say we were a lot more forgiving than what you typically see from most of NASCAR's finest. Way to go Smallhorses and EDK!!!

It's not the car so much as the talent behind the wheel that makes NASCAR a top world venue.

Wonder if the PAL, CE pre-order bonus would be better than the American pre-order bonus?

So wanting to know that I'm from a PAL region (NZ).

But...I didn't here Kaz say "There will be more customization to PREMIUM CARS ONLY." He said "More customization." Like like when Christ said to "Love one another" he didn't say to "Love this person or that person" but to "LOVE EVERYONE." Sorry, for that, best analogy I could think of.

I don't think the level of detail on a car has anything to do with the amount of customization you can do to it. Especially when only some Nissans will be Premium and Some Dodge's and so on. It wouldn't make sense to take the Challenger SRT8 to the tuning shop and be able to do put a body kit on it or something and then take the Hemi Superbee there and be able to only change it's rims and add a spoiler.

-> Hmm, does that mean that I will be receiving a total of 7 cars? :dopey:

^ Ok, I already pre-ordered the Collectors Edition at Gamestop. :sly:

-> So that tallies about 5 cars from the Collectors Edition, PLUS these two cars from Gamestop!? OH JOY!!!! :dopey:

The new cars are supposed to be introduced in 2011 right? PD is just ahead of the game I guess.

Maybe. Chances are, though, you'll have 2 Stealth McLaren's though.
