I know, I just think reviewers are very harsh when it comes to big names like GT because they have a lot to live up to, and sometimes reviewers expect too much.

Yeah, if we only had the 200 premium models, reviewers wouldn't have that negative to focus on.

Honestly, the game took too much time to be developed, so any missing detail and imperfection will be used as an argument, regardless of the overall quality and number of cool features.

Hopefully, the awesome online mode is really... awesome ;), and get some more points for GT, day-night transition will amaze many people too, and for sure will be extensively used to market the game. Now PD just need to drop a little bit of rain during the races and everyone will be sold. :D

As a note, I didn't see any Zonda in Premium spec, and that's just startling me. :irked:

I can't see GT5 getting less than 10 really, this represents a huge step in the series we never had online, damage, more than 6 cars per race, daynight transitions, flashing lights, proper rally, proper Oval racing and proper super GT and who knows what more stunning features still unannounced

Defo agree with that!
I would think that the whole Standard and Premium car issue will stop it getting a 10, but it should definitely get a high 9!

I don't think that should be a factor. You should rate the game on how the game is alone, not considering other factors. Lets say an underpaid, understaffed development team made a game in only a small timeframe, should reviewers give the game a higher score based on that fact? Obviously not, so why penalize for taking a longer dev time? It should be only about the game and its contents. Thats my opinion atleast.

As for the online mode, I cant wait either

Honestly I believe that the standard cars look a lot better than what most of us think so I don't think that will be a problem.👍

Funny, I've always thought that most reviewers are more lenient on big titles like GT. :sly:

I think it's not just the reviewers that expect to much.
Anyway someone said"expect perfection".
So that is what to expect.

Yeah, if we only had the 200 premium models, reviewers wouldn't have that negative to focus on. And that is exactly what they do, 800 extra cars is a negative in their eyes :odd:. I guess the only downside is, PD were pushing the 1000 car figure from the start and some people, myself included, were expecting 1000 prologue-spec cars (Prologue spec as in detail level), when we were told otherwise.

Actually, (i hope) the situation will be that most reviewers will NOT even notice the difference (between prem and std). If PD execute their models right, the reviewers will not even be aware that there is a double standards in the car modeling...

At best, they will be saying this game includes a huge number of highly detailed cars (+950) but only 200 only includes cockpit view...

Seen from that perspective, it is much better.

And i hope that we "experts" in GT will not see much of the difference either... Who knows really at this point...
There is still so much to be revealed about this game... we haven't finished with all the speculations yet...

👍 agree with you... i hope it will be so...
But i think for now, it's better to consider the worse-case scenarios, at least we wont fall from too far up :P

Alright guys wanted to know what you guys think about the Jazz music? My opinion get back lose control ,sweet 16,my favourite game and all the Daiki kasho great songs and get some fantastic music for each maufacture .

Just because those first 3 I bolded are new to the series doesn't mean the game deserves a 10. Frankly, they're way behind the times with them, so it should be standard by now. It's not 2004 anymore. Where has proper rallying been shown so far? I've seen another too-wide dirt track... give me point-to-point and I'll be all for it, though! I'm also really confused with the mention of "proper super GT"... since we've had them in every game.

If they're that level of blind that they don't notice the difference, I would seriously question the review's worth anyways. They'll know as soon as they bump a wall in a Standard.

Hoping for reviewers to overlook a glaring flaw basically proves the game isn't deserving of any "perfect" scores :).

Love Jazz and I think that Jazz sound is a lot of what makes GT, ya know GT. So, it was good to hear Kaz say on Twitter that it will make a return. 👍

Yes this isn't 2004 but these features are highly standard yes we might have seen some of them implemented in other racers but never in one game and with that quality.Yes we did race Super GT cars before but not in a 16 car line up with night racing and stunning graphics hence the word "proper".

Yes I don't mind Jazz at all but listening to songs like lose control by ash  brought back so many memories of GT1 after all the long time and one of the reasons GT1 was a fan favourite was because of it's stunning soundtrack list.

Even if they are blind, they are not stupid, while 1000 is the only topic that had been really point out here, the average player will look at other features like the the day/night transition, several genders of motorsports and tracks,If reviews give to Forza almost a perfect score is pretty sure that the reviewers will give to GT5 a perfect score, since the reviewers take classifications for a game based on the gameplay experience, that is why FM3 show up,unlike its predecessors it could be played by anyone and therefore it get good review, the only complain that the reviewers will have on Gran Turismo maybe will be the GT mode presentation, which was the cause of GTPSP low scores, still we also haven't seen everything yet we just have to wait.

A car will just be a car to them, it does not matter what brand or size or power... they will look at the color difference at best.

And even if they see the difference, it probably will NOT affect them nor will it bother them much as compared to other features (or lack of) in the games...

Take for instance, Blur or Grid or Burnout Paradise... the cars don't even have brands, nor do they have much details to them... what matter most to those people is the fun (& WOW) factor... and i guess GT4 was not much fun for them...

It's just sad that not everyone is able to appreciate the level of work by PD and Kaz...

I used to just let GT5P run in the background while messing around the house or lurking thru the webs....So true.

That's exactly the problem. If PD had played their cards right, we would all be marveled, reviewers included, at the 800 "extra cars". Instead, they chose to put the standard and premium cars together and call GT5 a 1000 car game, not a 200 car game with 800 extra cars. Not surprisingly, we all had a very unpleasant surprise and I can't help but think the same will happen to the casuals and reviewers. If they are indeed unpleasantly surprised and lower the game's score because of it, I can't blame them. PD handled the standard car situation in the worst way possible and I think in the end they will be sorry.

Would love if the custom soundtack feature can be applyed to the manufactures page in GT mode .
As for the standard car worries trust me ,I have seen videos of the standard car video on Youtube and user comments saying they look fantastic .

I think that's where you're wrong. The average gamer puts graphics above all. The difference between premium and standard will stand out to him above all else.

I agree. I don't know why you guys think that they just 'won't notice' but unless PD comes out and says that standard will have GT5P quality. They will definetly notice.

Even in GT5:P the GT-R Proto didn't seem to be of the same quality as the other cars, and it didn't have a cockpit...

Folks have said that the car IRL has no interior and thats the reason for no cockpit and black windows. 👍

You know the last shot is not from GT5P, right?

Yes I figured that much :)

But even then just looking at the model in the menus, subjectively it didn't feel and looked as good as the other models to me
And why did it sound different to the regular GT-R? You would think it used the same engine....

It would appear that the GT-R Proto is going to be a Standard model. I mean, blacked out windows, no cockpit...sounds like a stanard model to me. And it looks just as good as the premium cars on the track minus the blacked out windows. 👍 looks promising.

:boggled: The windows are blacked out because it doesn't have a cockpit to begin with.

yes...but...what is the description of the standard cars? They have blacked out windows. and people assume they have no cockpit...and it just makes sense. I mean, if you know the ACTUAL car is going to be released soon, why would you make a fully modeled concept model? I'm sure the Proto is a standard car...although, it's pretty freakin' ugly. I like the actual R35 better.

The reason the standard cars have blacked out windows is because their interiors are not modeled, just like in GT4. On the other hand, the GT-R Proto doesn't have a cockpit in the game because the real one doesn't have one either.

According to PD themselves standard cars are "cars from past Gran Turismo games" so the GT-R Proto can't be a standard by this definition. However, according to PD themselves premium cars have "intricately detailed instrument panel and dashboard" and the GT-R Proto obviously doesn't, so it can't be premium either.

As you can see, how PD is going to classify the car is anyone's guess. My bet is they will call it premium, even though it has no interior, because it is newly made with higher standards than the standard cars. You can tell just by looking at it and noticing the exterior details standard cars don't have or come close to having.
