Thats what I thought at first, however when you think about it.. it must have a cockpit view, its very detailed as most of the working components are visible through the bodywork which would suggest maybe damage to the body pannels.

I dont know if its just me but carts seems like an odd choice.. plus its not really classified as a car...

They can have cockpit view. The reason why standards do not have it - just because they modeled without it from very beginning.Or maybe yes - cart cars will not count as cars (because it's strange to drive it against real cars, for example)

It's because of people (me included) who are complete and utter morons, we don't always look back through the threads, and we post stuff that has been argued over once, and then the whole arguement starts again.

Thus people repeat themselves.

I am not talking about people like you. What I am speaking about is the individuals that post the same gripes over and over again. All you have to do is take an certain poster and take a look at his post record, and you can easily see those who do nothing but post complaints.

And the brown-nosers don't that tenfold?
The ratio of "negative posters", let's call the majority of them, realists, are easily outnumbered 10-to-1 by those who worship GT5 and the notion it can do no wrong.

Are you suprised? This GTPlanet afterall. A website that is 99% Gran Turismo related. Of course the GT fans will be out in force.

But I guess it's a good thing that the "realists" are here to point out the flaws to the ignorant, eh?

đź‘Ť When I come on to GTP I want to talk to other folks who love the game and enjoy the game as I do. Life isn't perfect so I know there are going to be things in the game I do not like, but I don't come here to cry and moan, but for the people who do and you say something to them you are either a FANBOY or a PD worshiper

I love Gran Turismo, and if the "realists" want to call me a fanboy-worshipper, so be it. I am willing to look past a majority of the flaws because my eyes are focused on the bigger picture.

GT5 when released will be a $60 well spent when compared to any racing game (any game actually) on the consoles. The amount of content will be staggering, albeit not perfect. Oh well.

Truth be told, your reason described is exactly why I come here too, and that's to find other GT fans.

đź‘Ť That is exactly why we all come here... people tend to forget what got them here in the first place :sly:

Always outnumbered, never outgunned! :D

Yet another like minded GT fan. đź‘Ť

Heck, it's why I decided to make a painting of Kazunori at one of his racing events. I think this guy is one of the most underappreciated people on the planet. Gran Turismo, the entire series, is simply a work of genius. Some can't understand our enthusiasm, and get slapped with the "fanboy" label pretty liberally. I decided to just give in and adopt the label as a badge of honor, since I tend to make my points logically. McLaren can't see the humor in it and it drives him batty. ;)

But this is why we come here, to celebrate an amazing game, and especially this latest monumental addition to an amazing legacy.

You know, I haven't added a single friend yet, while others have added me over the years. I think it's about time I saw to that disparity.

Always outnumbered, never outgunned! :D

Especially with the "opposition" using pompons as defence ( just kidding ), besides if I couldn't care less about GT5 why would I even spend time being critical about it?
But as Foolkiller rightfully mentioned we still know quite little about GT5 and I will try to contain any pre-judgement I might have expressed which isn't the same as "accepting" every final aspect when confirmed.
I do find that 360 degree interior as opposed to conventional interior view message ( French article ) intriguing though ( although I remain highly doubtful ofcourse, cannot change my pessimistic nature overnight ).;)

Looking to the list at the right side of that scan, looks like we have a confirmed track list. Im disappointed by the lack of new tracks personally, but hey thats my view.
It a tracklist "non definitive". Make of that what you want but no way you can turn that into "confirmed".

All of this is why I like to say that we don't know anything for 100% sure until the game is in our hands.
Just to add to FoolKiller's point, GT5 most likely has another month's work being done on it, perhaps more. Just keep in mind the old gaming adage,

"All specifications are subject to change." ;)

Can anyone translate the magazine? I really want to know what it says about tracks.

I can, french being my native language. It may take a bit of time though, + some of the scans are difficult to be deciphered. I'll get inot it, if my work allows a bit of spare time ;)

It doesn't really matter what is or isn't in Gran Turismo 5, because i will buy it anyways. All i'm hoping for is a good online mode, so i can race with my friends!

p.s. I'm a old fanboy also!

Ok. My translation of the french mag - part 1:

First paragraph
[Â…] (Basically, your typical intro that states the GT is the works for people, and more particularly Kaz, who have a real passion for cars)
Second paragraph
A breathtaking production.
It is always difficult to comment on the production of Gran Turismo without stating platitudes: incredible car modeling, amazing graphics, magnificent tracksÂ… Even if theyÂ’re justified, how many times have you heard those comments?
Unsurprisingly, GT5 follows its predecessors in their footsteps. The care for each detail from the game developers is striking. The cars have benefited from a very thorough work on their exterior and interior designs, so that theyÂ’re 100 times more detailed than in GT4. WeÂ’re not short on examples. You can see the hands moving to the gear depending on whether the car has manual or automatic shifts. Other detail: the lights. Depending on how old the car is, during night racing, youÂ’ll have classic lights or xenon lights. The drivers who are keen on playing with a Driving Force GT steering wheel will be able toÂ… ?? (text becomes unreadable).
(Â…text becomes readable again)
One aspect that leaves us dubious, though, is about damage. People have been asking for it since GT3. It is featured in this version at last, but it fails to be convincing. LetÂ’s be honest, it is far from the level shown by Need for Speed Shift or Race Driver Grid. However, Sony has pointed out that this aspect of the game is yet far from being finalized. LetÂ’s hope that this feature will be as well developed as the other parts of the game, on the release date.
Third paragraph
More accurate driving.
In his previous conventions, Kaz has repeated that driving in GT5 will be different from GT5P. After several hours of driving with a steering wheel, the differences are not that obvious, though one has to admit that some cars have their own temper. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 is very difficult to control while breaking. You have to hold on a perfect racing line, or else you lose the back of the car. The NASCAR “monsters” are very particular: they’re very easy to drive on their favorite ground, the ovals. However, on a sinuous track, you’ll have to be careful with the gas pedal. In a fast curve, such as the one from the urban track of Tokyo, at 160 kph, even if you feel like you have maximum stability, you can lose the car at any moment if you go flat out. Concentration is the key, even more so with rally cars. It’s hard as hell! WRC cars are the most difficult to handle. Driving Sebastien Loeb’s C4, you constantly feel like you’re walking on eggshells. Steering out-and-in to get the car into hairpin curves requires a lot of skills. Contrarily to asphalt racing, it is very difficult to gauge the level of grip. On the opposite side, driving the Nissan Xanavi Nismo GT-R is bliss! This car, from Japanese Super GT championship, gives a driving experience that shows the true potential of GT5, being technical and precise. On the Nurburgring, only a few corners are enough to convince you that the new addition to the GT series takes driving to a higher level. You pass one corner after another flat-out, and on the end of the straight, you jump on the brakes, shift down, the front-end remains stable, and the cars gets into the curve with an amazing accuracy. Exiting the curve, you carefully push the throttle, before going flat-out in the following straight. And here we go again! The engine revs up quickly, shifting up, and you’re already at 220 kph. That’s how you get immersed into racing in the matter of minutes. Everything flows so quickly, your movements become automatic; you become one with the car. Very few games can make you feel such feelings, and GT5 delivers.

Can anyone translate the magazine? I really want to know what it says about tracks.

Being French, here are the translations for the pages on "Tracks":

http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/2572/traces.png

Here are the translations:

A) PD being so mysterious about the 20 locations / 70 tracks, the magazine editors have tried to reconstruct the puzzle, based on what we already know from both GT4 and GT-PSP.
Their calculations have led them to a number less than the "announced" 70, therefore, their guess is that new tracks will be revealed as we approach the release date.
This is their speculations: maybe a few more NEW rally courses/tracks will make their appearance, OR it could also be a new city track, refering to Germany being the only europeen country left missing a urban/city track... so maybe?

B) Track editor...:
"Tired/bored of racing the tracks in GT5? No problems, PD has thought about you by integrating a track editor.
This option revolutionize the (GT) series on a few levels, none too happy about creating the tracks of your dream, you can also share them online."

C) list of 64 identified tracks (race, city, rally), including the new ones from number 53 to 64.

USA:
2 (or 7) race tracks (this ligne if word is too blurry for me to see it clearly)
2 city tracks
1 rally track (Grand Canyon)

England:
1 race track
1 city track

Spain:
1 race track
1 city track

Germany:
3 race tracks

Italie: (two new choices: toscana, and rome, which is one of the fastest city tracks in GT)
3 city tracks
1 rally track

France:
2 race tracks
1 city track
1 rally track

Hong Kong:
1 city track

Japan:
12 race tracks
1 city track

SWitzerland: (funny to see tracks located in Switzerland, when we know in real life that this country forbid any sort of auto car racing in its territory.)
1 city track
1 rally track

Monaco:
1 ctiy track

South Korea:
1 city track (in Seoul)

Fourth paragraph
Where are the opponents?
On console, GT has always been the reference in terms of driving simulation. However, the AI problems remain. Cars behave as if on rails, rigged to the ideal racing line, regardless of your position on the track. WeÂ’ve had some improvements in GT5P (AI racers making occasional mistakes), but nothing as promising as in Race Driver Grid. We tried to challenge the AI a little, and had mixed reactions about it. Some trends are like GT5P (one car repeats the same mistake over and over if you restart the same race), but we saw AI opponent completely missing their braking point and going straight into the ARMCO. They do not seem very aggressive, but they are very quick. They usually maintain a very high pace throughout the races. It is difficult to understand why PD has not put much emphasis on that feature. No doubt that Online racing will be a solution.
This mode should be very different from GT5P, and should make things much quicker and easier. You can create a lobby with up to 32 participants, in order to discuss the game. You can also have private rooms to meet up with friends. On the tracks, youÂ’ll have 15 opponents. Without a doubt, Online racing will deliver the most epic races. However, weÂ’re still clueless about the penalty system, PD has been silent about it since the release of GT5P. LetÂ’s hope that the worst drivers will face harsher sanctions.

Fifth paragraph
A technological showcase
[Â…] (blah, blahÂ… long intro about GT being a technological showcase)
It is not surprising to have GT5 being compatible with the latest technologies, such as 3D TVs. Is it a gadget or a gaming revolution? The first impressions, in cockpit view, are simply astounding. The effect of depth is striking: the elements of the dashboard, the mirrors, the interior features are really jumping right out at you. After this first impression, we decide to race. After 1 hour of racing, no headache nor any other kind of trouble. However, a couple of details are worth mentioning. First, your head has to be in line with your TV. If your head makes a 15% turn, the image loses its consistency, but itÂ’s not much trouble if youÂ’re really focusing on the track. Actually, weÂ’re wondering if the 3D glasses are really useful for that game: GT requires so much concentration on the track, the cars, the racing line, the braking points, that the 3D perception becomes secondary. We think that games such as Killzone 3 or Crysis 2 will benefit more from that kind of technology.
Other new technological feature in GT5: head tracking. With the PSEye above your TV, the driverÂ’s view changes after the movements of your head. It is very useful while overtaking. You only have to take a slight glance on your right to have the driverÂ’s head turning in that direction. Then you can see the position of your opponent through the passengerÂ’s window. However, we tried head-tracking in a non-finalized version, and it still needs a lot of testing and calibration before having the proper response from the eye detection.
Last paragraph: a basic concluding thing stating more or less that GT5 was worth the wait.

Next features translated soon.

Last sentence of the last paragraph:

"Excellence calls for (Great) Success"!

On the next page, regarding Cars:

It briefly describes the different types/categories of cars:
1) Kart
2) K-cars (small City cars)
3) Small cars (Golf, BMW 1-series etc)
4) Sedans
5) Historical (Muscle) cars
6) Hybrid / Electric cars (Honda CR-Z, Tesla)
7) sport cars (NSX)
8) concept cars
9) GT race cars
10) Supercars (SLR)
11) Prototypes
12) Nascar
12) WRC
13) Formula 1 (without any real news, the magazine is just as clueless as we are on what will be included on this type of cars)

And of course:

NO PORSCHE!

The left portion (in red) of the page, regarding Standard / Premium car, is too blurry for me to read it.
