So I think it's fair to say that this magazine only has as much info as we do, and has just pieced everything that we all have together?

No real news/ revelations... just further self-confirmation of our common knowledge.

Kaz/PD is keeping it fair for everyone, no one knows more than anybody else.

We are all still in the same boat, drifting slowly toward an unknown shore, where we all hope for a paradise on earth: party all the time, with girls who keeps on offering beer to you... (i am assuming that there is no girls here reading in this forum, my apologies if there are)

Page about cars:
The paragraph about standard/premium cars is unreadable (!!). However, I doubt it could have given a definite answer to us.
Damage:
One of the great new features of GT5 is the inclusion of damage. In the version we tested, the damages we inflicted to the vehicles were not as spectacular as it was claimed by PD. There are only a few months left to bring in some retouches. Be aware that the body damage and the type of crash will have a different impact depending on the car you’ll be driving, whether it will be a Standard or premium car.
Scratches: a contact with the ARMCO or opponents will result in scratches. (It’s hardly readable)
Dirt: Be it premium or standard car, you’ll see the body of your car getting dirtier during the race.
Doors: even if you can’t see any damage on this Nissan, we can tell you that we managed to damage both doors of a WRC car.
Lights: it only takes someone else to brake too late for your rear lights to get wrecked.
Car categories
Kart: No, it’s not a joke, karting will appear in GT. We now dream of a career-like mode, starting from karting and climbing up to the most prestigious competition: F1!
Light-K-cars: unless you race on sinuous or slow tracks, these small cars are the less enjoyed. Unfortunately, you’ll have to prove yourself in that category before you can move on to higher-end cars.
Compact cars: the complete line-up of cars is not yet known. We just expect to find the classic cars from that category: Ford Focus RS, Renault Megane RS, Seat Leon, BMW 135, Mazda 3 MPS and some others.
Old historical cars: GT fans know that GT isn’t just a racing game, but also a car encyclopedia. It’s no surprise to see a bunch of old cars from USA, Europe and Japan.
Sedan: Sedans too can provide driving thrills. We’ll enjoy these big German and Japanese cars.
Hybrid/electric cars: Before, you were driving at a slug pace with a Prius or a Motor Triathlon. Now, you can have fun with other cars such as the CR-Z coupe (Honda’s hybrid car) or even the Tesla roadster (100% electric)
Sports car: You’ll enjoy hitting the track with these. These cars are GT’s main course.
GT: You’ll find the top of racecars from the Europeans, US and Japanese championships. That’s a selection of the best cars.
Concept car: A few years ago, Kaz made the wish that he wouldn’t have any more of these concept cars that never made it to the road. However, and quite fortunately, this category is still around, as will be the Toyota FT-86.
Supercar: Ferrari Enzo, Mercedes SLR, Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Murcielago, , Lexus LFA, these are the top of road cars.
Prototype: Like for GT cars, we don’t yet know the line-up of prototype cars that will take part to endurance races. We can still think that recent cars such as Peugeot 908 will be there.
NASCAR: These cars with 700+ HP are monsters. Developers had some extra care in rendering the engine sound when playing with the throttle.
WRC: WRC will allow you to race like Loeb. It’s difficult to race these 300 HP cars on dirt and gravel. We’ll find the Ford Focus, Impreza and Suzuki SX4 rally cars.
Formula 1: having F1 cars in GT is no news. It is however the first time that a top team like Ferrari is included. More interesting is the collaboration between PD and Red Bull Racing. In one trailer, we could see Sebastian Vettel but also Adrian Newey, who designed the latest Red Bull. 2 hypotheses: either the Red Bull F1 car is included in GT5, or a futuristic F-1 like car designed by Newey.
A notorious absentee: Porsche. (basically, PD has convinced many of the greatest manufacturers to be featured in GT, like Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. but seems to have failed to convince Porsche).

Thank you syagre for taking the time, much appreciated.

You don't speak Japanese by any chance do you..........

You're welcome.

Why? You want to browse japanese forums to figure out if the people are fighting about premium vs. standard cars ?

I would be careful not to use that if I were you, some might find that offensive.

Forgetful
Race online. AI problem solved.

There a quite a few members who have stated there not touching online with a barge pole. Not myself mind you, I like to race online.
Online is fine for me.

Well i guess if there was a Japanese girl reading our forum, she would be Red Mad at us! :banghead:

Please girls, PM me if you need to unload your frustrations... ;)

Those poor, misguided people.

All I ever wanted was GT4 with online, expressly because the AI, no matter how well they handle traffic, can not replicate human competition. They just plain can't match your pace in the same car, and a sim racing game shouldn't force you in to a way under equipped car just to get a race out of the AI. Prologue's workaround was to stick you at the back of the field, and give you one lap to git'r'dun. Not much of a simulation of how a real race plays out.

The best way to get a thrilling, close, competitive race, is against real people, and it's a bit silly to avoid that because of bashers and bad drivers, since we're getting private rooms. I mean, we're at the internet's largest GT fan site... if you can't find good people to race with here, you're doin' it wrong.

Single player will be a hurdle

Actually that term has been SPECIFICALLY mentioned by the mods as a possible insta-ban before. I would edit that post as soon as you can if I were you.

That's quite a dumb thing to say.
Many won't bother with online and then those who do will undoubtedly run into those players who make AI look like a pro.

Not if you are racing with friends, especially from GTP. They run pretty good leagues on here. 👍

The reason most people who are interested in clean, fair racing, can't be found right now, is that they don't have a place to do their thing. I'm fortunate to have gotten involved with the TPRA in its early days, and we've been flooding rooms in Prologue, and having mostly great league races, for going on 2 years now. But, the rest of the good racers are in hiding until they can get away from the riff raff. I can assure you that there will be hordes of leagues, teams and race hosts looking for like minded drivers to race properly with.

You could just resign yourself to a defeatist attitude, and limit yourself to the single player side of the game because of a few bad apple drivers, of you can do something about it, gather your friends, or make new ones, and fellow forum members in to a league, and have all the clean racing you want. You're here at GTP... you don't think you'll have access to a large selection of proper racing events? You discredit the ambition and intentions of your fellow forum members.

This is there 5th game( and I'm being kind here ). I'd have thought they would have got it together now.
I'm sure I read somewhere about different AI personalitys. Maybe I'm wrong. Hope it gets sorted. Fingers crossed.

Offline is a video game. This is sim racing. This is how we roll...

...and who says small cars aren't any fun?

... three nights a week. Casual track days on most Sundays

We ran a 9hr enduro at HSR-R, last Sunday. The 15th of August, we do 12hrs at Suzuka. 3-5 drivers per car. Pit stops and driver changes. All kinds of fun, and all because I've made good friends with a lot of clean, fair, sim racers. It scares me to think what we'll do with full online controls.:dopey:

I really hope PD will overhaul the AI and make them more human. I think it's really ignorant to say "just play online", I would rather have a great singleplayer experience first. Remember, not everyone has good enough internet to handle online racing, so it is much more important (IMO) to get the AI sorted out first. That's just my opinion though, so don't take offense to it.

Going to sleep now, but after some testing I can tell you all sim lovers that you're going to like (LOVE) GT5 👍 👍 👍

Will post in more detail after tomorrow as I still go there (WRC Jyväskylä) to have a few more rounds.. ;)
