I'm a bit disapointed about the sounds in general... watched lots of videos and it seems none of the sounds we're expecting are in... tires are as squeeky as in GT2 arg!

Anyone's noticed a good enough difference?
Yes, a big difference. I have found the sounds to be very much improved over GT4, especially the amazing surround sound and deep base. Unless you are judging the actual sound, and not recorded off some video, and using a decent sound system or high quality headphones, I wouldn't draw any conclusions.

Besides, neither GT5 nor GT5:P have actually been released yet, only the demo for GT5:P, and if you go read through the official demo thread in this forum, you'll find well over 75% of those commenting on the sound quality all say it's an improvement, many saying it's a huge improvement... and that's just for the demo.

But of course, other than going into the sonic technical performance, much of the opinions people have on car sounds in games is almost entirely subjective and based largely on personal preference.

For instance, many people either do not like realistic car sounds, or are convinced highly exaggerated exhaust sounds, as often heard in arcade style games, is realistic. Others, such as myself much prefer realistic sounds, and leave the arcade style sounds to when we are playing arcade style games. 👍

Of course, that was also a subjective opinion. :)

I thought Daytona and Fuji were going to be available as well as Suzuka.

If I am missing something while playing, please let me know.

Other than that..Prologue is a good taste of what is to come.

There was hope that Daytona and Fuji would be unlocked, but there was never any evidence that they would be. It looks like they won't be. :(

edit: oh, and this is just a demo of Prologue. There'll be plenty of tracks in the actual release to get everyone by until GT5. ;)

On the sound thing, I've found that the sound is improved in GT5:P:Demo across the board. From the surround placement, to the actual engine sounds, to the tire screech (though that could still use some fine tuning). Everything sounds pretty darned good on my system.

Oh well that's awesome news then! Thanks for clarifying this man! I'm really nervous about the whole thing... especially after hearing good tire sounds from PGR4, NFSs and Dirt; all of those having really convincing "grippy" sounds.

Here's hoping for the best!

I'm grabbing a PS3 once the 40Go comes out... but i guess the demo will be done by then. No matter, i'm still excited... hehe

I'm looking forward to getting in on this bandwagon, and hearing and seeing the improvements.
Getting my 60Gb console hopefully in a couple of days (depending on the post office, of course) but I would advise anyone thinking of getting a 40Gb version, that it is a cut-down version. Without ANY PS2 backwards playability and fewer USB sockets.
Also, the 60Gb ones are being reduced in price to clear them out, so people will buy the 40's and pay nearly the same price for them.

But hey, you probably knew all that anyway!

Excellent choice going with the 60GB 👍

Some are saying they feel ripped off that the PS3 is being decreased in price by 33% just 12 months after launch but personally I feel glad that I bought one early because I've used the backwards compatibility (GT4 etc), the card readers (uploaded images from the digital camera to view on the TV), and the 4 USB ports (mouse, keyboard, DFP, SIXAXIS recharge cord)

After the demo of GT5:P, I came to realize GT5 must have at least 1 point to point track. With the new photo realistic graphics and in car view driving road cars around circuits built for racecars doesn't feel quite right. In my opinion these cars need to drive on a course without rumble strips, guard rails, and catch fences.

Maybe the Isle of Man track?

Or maybe a point to point course along Highway 1 in California?

I want them to have the Peel P50 and the Peel Trident in GT5! They'll be by far the most fun cars to drive!

Hey everyone, does anyone know if you can still download GTHD and GT5:P Demo? I live in Canada and my friend said he cant find the download for GT5:P Demo...thanks in advance

Is he on the Japanese store? It is supposed to be available until November 11th, I thought. But it is only available in the Japanese store.

I believe GT:HD is still available everywhere but in the Japanese PS Store, and the GT5:P demo is the opposite, and is only available from the Japanese PS Store.

Here are a couple links worth checking out, as well as info on setting up accounts for other regions:

wowww thanks for the info guys. Im new to this and i just wanted to find out in advance since i dont have a router at the moment to connect to the internet on my ps3.

Just got my PS3 this morning.

Have done the system update, got my English and Japanese accounts, GTHD and GT5:Prologue downloaded already.

Very,Very nice indeed!

Though the FF on the DFP is missing the rumble strip effects, don't know if that's been talked about in this thread or not. But it's the only thing I have noticed missing.
Love the in-car view, and the handling is more realistic.

Had a few niggles with GT4 though (blurring, stuttering) but solved them by changing some of the settings (smoothing and PS2 resizing?)

FF is OK in GT4.

Just thought I would share my observations.👍

Firstly, let me start off by saying the last time I played a GT game that I owned myself was on a PS1. Having said that, it wasn't because I didn't want to.

Anyway, recently I played GTHD at a local video game store and was considering buying a PS3 shortly after I left the store, specifically for GT5.

After some research and reading a decent portion of this thread, I'm now rather confused.

GT5:P is being released in Japan Dec 13th, but no mention of a North American release, is this still correct?

Also, as far as GT5 (full game) is concerned, how is this going to work? Is GT5 going to be the sum of GT5:P as a base plus downloadable content as it is developed? Or will it have its own release, with a large amount of content already built in? If the case is the former (GT5:P + downloadable content), what will the content cost, any news in that area? Do you guys think it would be worth it that way?

Either way, what kind of time frame can be expected for GT5? Originally I was kind of excited because I thought it was GT5 that was being released in December, which kind of made sense to me because PS3 has already been out for like a year now. Now after having found all of this stuff out, I'm rather discouraged. And pretty angry actually.

-> I just got from the SEMA show earlier, and they have a GT5P demo that features the F430 and the R8 at their Sony booth (I believe its the Liepzig demo not sure), but my time there was short and I was unable to try the demo, but I will upload some pics of their booth soon. :)

Good call. I have owned every Playstation system specifically for GT games. Any other games I happened to enjoy in that time was just a bonus.

Many of us are, but I believe I have the answers to most of your questions.

They have said other regions in 2008, but no definite date. I have it in my head that Sony Computer Entertainment America did say we will get this Prologue, but I may be imagining that.

Also, as far as GT5 (full game) is concerned, how is this going to work? Is GT5 going to be the sum of GT5:P as a base plus downloadable content as it is developed? The prologue games are separate games from the full version. There was a GT4: Prologue as well, but it never came to North America. GT4 was a larger, fuller game. Kazunori Yamauchi (creator of the series) has constantly said that there will be a full GT5. I have no doubt that GT5 will be a whole new Blu-Ray disc with more features and possibly improvement on graphics, sounds, physics, AI, etc over Prologue.

So, no GT5 is not GT5: Prologue + downloadable content. Although Prologue will apparently receive downloadable content to update things as they develop them for the full version of GT5. So, Prologue could very well wind up being updated on things like damage, weather, physics, etc to become similar to GT5, but rumors are now flying that GT5 can expect over 900 cars (how much is downloadable content I don't know) while Prologue will only have 40-60 and 5 tracks.

Either way, what kind of time frame can be expected for GT5? Originally I was kind of excited because I thought it was GT5 that was being released in December, which kind of made sense to me because PS3 has already been out for like a year now. GT5 is announced for 2008. The speculation is that GT5 will be out for Japan in the spring/summer and around Christmas 2008 for everyone else, but as Polyphony Digital has a track record of delays everyone is suspecting it will be more like early 2009 for North America and Europe.

Also, if you do get a PS3 now you can get the Prologue demo from the online Japanese Playstation Store for free until November 30th.

Ultra sadface + :( :( :( :grumpy:

Thanks for all the information though man. I really appreciate it.

Also sorry to any/all of the admins that may have come across my multiple posts/threads, I didn't realize there was approval and I just thought something was wrong with my browser :\

Le sigh.

hey everybody, i just downloaded the GT5 Prologue Demo. I was wondering why my Skyline has the blask mask on it and why i only got 4 cars to use at the moment(only the skyline, the diahatsu, Evo 10 and the 135i). Did i do something wrong?

My new favorite pic

I've seen racing games with 55 cars on track at once but for some reason GT5's 16 looks just as impressive as rFactor's 55. I think the reason behind this is that GT5's cars are so detailed you notice each one, but with rFactor you kind of overlook alot of them because they lack great detail, so 16 cars in GT5 is as impressive as 55 cars in rFactor

Good point Earth. No one else seems to have followed up on this, but I agree. Racing circuits are all very well, but it would be nice to have some P2P "real life" tracks, particularly a touge track. One of the disappointments in Forza 2 was the fact that they eliminated the P2P, particularly the beautiful Fujimi Kaido touge track. Also, the best thing in EPR is the Dragon Range course.

I just read the first post. As soon as I get GT5, I am going to go into arcade mode, jump into a race car, and smash it into a barrier at full speed. Muhahahahaha...

Oddly enough, they tell the precise release date of the Japanese version, the approximate release date of the US version, but nothing about the PAL version.

Old video from Gran Turismo HD, but gives you an idea of what to expect the Sarthe circuit to look like in GT5. They finally made the shoulders of the Mulsanne the red color instead of gray which is true to the real track.

In the end it may just be the GT4 track in High Definition, but that's fine to me as long as they get day/night changes

old?

On crash damage:

* GT5 Prologue will not support crash damage, although it is in their future plans.
* Given the time and expense they go to to make sure even the smallest details are accurate, you can understand why crash damage is such a massive undertaking. (Consider that there isn't a lot of data about crashing a Ferrari 599 at 150mph. How would you find out what the fender does, without crashing one?)
* Accurate damage simulation is Yamauchi's dream.

On the new cars:

* Ferrari is in.
* Porsche - still not.
* Lamborghini - maybe.
* Formula 1 cars are still not even a remote possibility

Vids like this is what i'd like to see on gt/tv untill its truelly up and running. I'd like to see the LeMans track on 52 inches in hd.
