@ shazui: And that is a Nationwide car and not a Next-tell car, or at least a two year old vid, no splitter on the front and an old rear spoiler.

After looking at some live pictures from Suzuka Speedway (F1 gp 09) I noticed all the shadows are pointed the opposite direction from what the GT5P Suzuka track is. It's as if PD reversed all the lighting. And It's not like its a different time of day either.

Well, according to the shadows, it is the opposite time of day. For example, the real photos were taken at 8am and GT5P was modelled at 4pm.
The second to last pics (going into turn 1) you can see the sky is lit up on opposite sides.

Well as soon as you get over the shadow nit-picking, you might realize that GT looks as good as real life. PD is amazing in my opinion!

You're right. But I'm still wondering why PD chose that lighning instead of the real one we see in every single suzuka event.
Turn10 don't own a "lightning license", right? Who would give it to them anyway? The Sun?

I'm not sure about that, I watched the gp of Suzuka (F1), which took place at 1pm local time, and the shadows still seemed backwards, It' not a big deal in my opinion, but you'd think PD would get the lighting right, FM3 seemed to get it.http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://a.imagehost.org/0182/GT5P-FM2-RealLifeSuzuka.jpg&imgrefurl=http://forums.gametrailers.com/thread/this-shows-how-bad-gt5-fanboys/903305%3Fpage%3D4&usg=__PV-mScfTVDBdIlxsPwpPyopMFC0=&h=2819&w=1797&sz=742&hl=en&start=9&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=2dG3_97YuQ4I-M:&tbnh=150&tbnw=96&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dgt5p%2Bvs%2Breal%2Bsuzuka%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1

I bet the sun is at drastically different parts of the sky in Summer compared to Winter...
Would you race on snow?

New York, N.Y. 40° 42' 51"

Suzuka 34° 52' 59"

Pretty much on the same latitude- meaning just as you would in NY, the sun changes its position throughout the year (hence the change in weather).

That may be, but can anyone find a picture of Suzuka that clearly matches the way PD modeled it? I for one can not.

Why does it matter? It isn't as if we are racing a specific race, which starts on a specific date and specific time. And since we do not have dynamic time changes yet it really doesn't matter.

Yamauchi has said before that they like to create perfect conditions visually, so they are likely setting it up to be at a time of day to have the best lighting angle from the sun.

Bingo...

We have a winner.

The point I'm trying to make is that PD, being the perfectionists the are, you'd think would model everything as accurately as possible. that's all

What's not accurate about it though? There's nothing inacurate about modelling the time of day. You're honestly being picky about nothing.

I know that's how it is, but wtf is up with London? It's almost too dark

It looks fine, I think it's a TV /settings issue, same with people who find the cockpits too dark on aome/a lot of carrs. They look fine on mine, I think there might be a setting in the game you can alter, if not then you may just have to adjust your TV a little.

My TV is the same way. In the light/sun the cars are vibrant and look good. But everything that is in the shade, or in-car is way too dark. If I brighten up the tv so I can see those details, then the stuff that was perfect before is too bright now. :guilty:

I'll admit I am quite picky, but what's inaccurate about it is the suns position. (which causes the backward shadows) In reality, the sun could never be there. I've made my point, so I'll shut up now.
