GT5 is the 16th best selling PS3 game at Gamestop according to their website. If you go to the website and click on PS3 and then click on all, you get a list of games and accessories already sorted in terms of bestselling. GT5 Collectors edition is on the second page about 3 games in, making it 16th on the list. (15th if you discount the 160GB PS3)

BTW, awesome damage pics, guys. :) Maybe this GT5 Demo will be downloadable for everyone soon.

when it actually launches it's going to skyrocket to number one, not just ps3, of all games :)

It`s quite amazing, a couple of days ago everybody was complaining about the damage in GT5, but just one photo of a 458 with amazing-looking damage, and everybody praises the damage. :)

checked my local best buy and the dont have it. i doubt they will ever get it because they are just using a retail ps3 and putting games in it. its not a playstation kiosk.

I'm waiting for people to claim Ferrari actually recalled the real 458 to make the possible damage suffered in an accident seem more like the one displayed in GT5.;)
Does look more comprehensive than I expected though.

Quite a vast improvement and some show a pounding even beyond the photos posted this morning (pg 1383). All in all, the photos show progressive damage to vehicles (as opposed to: CRASH! Oh look, my hood has popped up and flown off.), which is fantastic and as promised.

i admit i was a bit worried but i'm also not part of the group that complained gt didn't have damage. I knew if they were to implement damage Kaz would want it near perfect and that would take a long time. I rather they just make teh best physics engine as possible over damage

Well it now looks like they have the best damage engine!:)

Well, mechanical damage makes people drive more carefully (at least in racing leagues), because you don't want to finish your race in the first corner.

C'mon, we need someplace to vent off.

Why not call it "Damage Check" :)

and I'm sure many here would agree with me. GT has always been about racing and I would like for that tradition to continue.

Impressive damage on that 458, nice.

Also, what happened to the left headlight, I can't see it in the blurry pic, but I presume it has fallen off. Did any of them shatter in million pieces?

When I roughed up the R8 the headlight did not fall off. It crumpled up along with the body, sort of like it was a texture. I hit the guardrail doing 120 and the left corner got bashed in pretty rough. Mechanical damage is great, and gets messed up quicker than visual damage. I hit a guardrail with the 458 doing maybe 60. Hit the rear right quarter. The shifts got much much slower, the top speed seemed to die out around 160 or so.

Great, hopefully it will make the punters think twice. Does anyone know if engine damage is location specific? For example, if I crash the front of my car with a rear engined car it should not effect engine performance.

People are going to do silly things that aren't racing, in private room. There's no stopping that. Forza didn't have a soccer mode designed in to it.

There will be plenty of racing to be done, no need to quash any attempts to make GT fun in other ways, so long as they don't hinder your ability to race.

GT5 is looking beautiful.

Erm, it really doesn't look great. All the best buy monitors are 1080i so that might be the reason but all the edges of the panels have those line breaks. It doesn't look better than GT5P. I'll check GT5P on 1080i when I get home.

Other than that, found arcade physics to be more or less GT5P pro physics and PRO physics to be much better than the TT. The snap back wasn't so terrible that you spun out with any correction. It feels much more natural to me. It gave you just enough time to correct the steering. It was pretty hard for me to keep it straight as I'm not the best. I foresee PRO physics being frustrating to those who aren't that good but I also see getting used to them with light practice. I'm not sure of the controller was bad, but it felt like cars didn't turn as much as they should. Analog stick all the way to each side and it didn't turn as much as I think it should've.

Ewwww. 1080i looks very yucky on my telly. I would play in 720p before I would play in 1080i. The difference between 1080i and 1080p is staggering(at least on my telly).
