Well, I'm coming from an iRacing perspective where everything is modeled incredibly accurate, but all you get with iRacing is the physics. GT5 has pretty much every aspect of owning/racing a car covered with sheer beauty of it all included, but I'd like to see the physics a little better in some relatively obvious areas.

iRacing also doesn't give you a choice in tires, if you had tires with better grip at Indy in iRacing you'd probably go faster aswell.

Plus it could definitely be standard physics or TC, but the car seemed to understeer pretty bad when he got over 170 MPH or so, which isn't that far off tbh.

I'm assuming the NASCAR video was run on R3 tires, which would explain the speed difference, if you put them on R1s it would be a bit more realistic, overall the speeds are actually lower than previous builds so they're headed in the right direction. Video Games haven't gotten spot on speeds in the NASCAR area for a while now though.

if you're referring to teh nascar vid on gamersyde than i'm pretty sure that video is sped up by a bit..just look at the way the driver steers, it's really quick and the car is going abnormally fast added the tv probably has motion flow on

I don't know if it was already posted

Here comes the rain, here comes the rain,
and I say it's all right

Surprise! A new build of Gran Turismo 5 is playable on the TGS showfloor. This first video shows some old and fun cars driving in the rain, and while it's way too dark you guys should still be able to enjoy it. More to come, in better quality!

Omg the game complete wipped out at about 1.37

I'm not referring to how fast the cars appear to go, rather I'm going off the speedometer in the lower left corner. Also, it's not really sped up persay, it's that they're trying to run a NASCAR race with 900 degree steering, that'll never work out.

The second video of the rain on Eiger shows the AI spinning out in the rain. Amazing quality and a good show of the AI being more "human" than before.

Why does GT5 look soft? texture wise? it's like the environment lacks body or say weight in detail. I mean the cars look amazing but everything else looks hazy like the tire smoke, especially the dirt/sand looks like a faint mist and the shadows in the interior are all boxed up. Can we say for sure yet that some of this stuff will get fixed before release?

But the shadows better be fixed because I love the interior view and I'll be very very disappointed if this is not fixed or polished up.

Smoke to me looks really good and realistic, could use a tad more definition but it's too easy to go too far, only problem for me is it dissolves too fast, this could easily be a limitation placed by the game engine to keep it at 60FPS, however. Dirt is basically the same but feels pretty spot on in appearance.

I've only noticed 1 car in the videos from TGS I've seen with bad shadows and that was the Isuzu, one that looks as if it's just been built and the "shadow box/shadow mapping" isn't complete yet. Everything else seems pretty clear, even on the lower res videos.

One thing to keep in mind is PD are going for a distinct visual style, one described by Kaz himself as "better than reality", which explains a lot of "issues" with the graphics.

Just had an email from Amazon UK:

Estimated arrival date: November 05 2010

One of Amazon's aims is to provide a convenient and efficient service; in this case, we have fallen short. Please accept our sincere apologies.

Play.com joining in on the fun.

We have recently been informed by the manufacturer of this product that the release date has been changed to 05-Nov-2010. We have updated this information on site and will endeavour to process your order in readiness to arrive with you on the release date.

Wonder what this means? Such high demand they might not have enough? Or just a simple 3day push back?

I believe it's 2 days since it seems to only affect the UK at the moment. For EU and the UK including AU and NZ, the release date is Nov 3rd (edit- I think it's actually Nov.4th for AU and NZ). The US Amazon date is currently still Nov 2nd.

Game in the UK also gave November 5th as a release date since the launch of the Signature Edition. I was expecting them to eventually change it to the 3rd to be the same as other sites but clearly November 5th is the official UK release date if Amazon and Play are now also giving November 5th.
