Sorry if this has already been answered, but how do we know the Maserati GranTurismo shown in the E3 trailer (and anywhere else) is the S model?

I'm just curious about it :)

We saw the back of the Maserati in the GT5 E3 trailer and check out the exhaust pipes. The GT S has only 2 but they are big while the GT has 4 small ones.
And look at the license plates. It says 'Gran Turismo S' ;)

Ah! thank you! :) that's good news, can't wait to take it for a spin.

Well I have no idea of the validity of this or where they got their info, but ClassicCarsForSale.co.uk have the following article on their website

Classic cars take prominent role in new game

An eagerly-anticipated new computer game will allow console fans to get behind the virtual wheel of a number of iconic classic cars, it has been confirmed.
Gran Turismo 5, which is set to be released towards the end of the year, is the latest in a hugely successful series that has sold over 53 million units since December 1997.
According to its official website, "the world''s hottest cars from car manufacturers all over the globe, both past and present, have been gathered".
Among the 1,000-plus models gamers can choose from will be a 1950s Facel Vega HK500, a 1960s Jensen CV8 and a 1970s Alfa Romeo 2000 Sprint Veloce.
Classic car fans will be able to take their historic vehicles for a spin in 20 locations and 70 lay-outs in Gran Turismo 5 when it hits the shelves on November 2nd.
Last month, Daily Telegraph motoring expert Jasper Gerard described the Facel Vega HK500 as the "best car you''ve probably never heard of".

I just hadn't seen those cars mentioned in regards to GT5 before, and if indeed its true, a Facel Vega looks ...interesting

facel_vega_hk500_silver_1961.jpg

If Facel Vega makes its way into GT5 ( with Jensen already appearing in GT4 ) I'll be, how do I put it, extremely happily surprised.
It's one of my favourite brands and although not well known ( neither were a lot of other brands in GT4 to most casual players I guess ) this glamourous Chrysler V8-powered French GT deserves to be featured in this game in my opinion.
I'll hold my horses though for now until final confirmation ( or extremely big surprise when I finally fire up GT5 ).

"The exclusive styling and prestigious aura appealed to royalty and other notables - the star-studded list of owners is a miniature "Who's Who", with a shah, a king, ambassadors, princes and presidents, Danny Kaye, Tony Curtis, Francois Truffaut, Brian Rix, Ringo Starr, Lionel Bart, Joan Fontaine, and Ava Gardner (who had no less than three). To complete the grande routière image, great racing figures of the time such as Rob Walker, Maurice Trintignant and Stirling Moss, used Facels to cover the distances between the race tracks of Europe at high speed in comfort and safety.":)

Great news if it's true :)
I can't wait to hit the track with one of these!

The HK500 had a 360bhp 5.9 litre chrysler hemi V8 with a top speed of 147mph (237km/h). 1660 kg. 0 to 100 in 7,5 seconds. Disc brakes in 1960. 482 cars produced from 1958 to 1961.

What top quality cars are due later this year and early next year.
Reason for asking is, usually there were cars in GT4 that were part of the game of which most of us didn't know were coming out.
There's the new lambo murcielago replacement, the new zondas. Dunno anything else. Supercars are not my thing.

Wow, this took a while! But I must give credit to the user who made the list of the premium cars. I helped by adding the numbers beside them, and as you can see, I took a guess at the remaining cars.

They need the DB5....and the original V8 Vantage from one of the other Bond movies...and the DB7. :P and the Vanquish and DB9

Great news if it's true :)
I can't wait to hit the track with one of these!

If I can actually drive a Facel-Vega in GT5, I will die a happy man. But I won't get my hopes up.

Nice to see some fellow admirers of this long gone, flawed but impressive French brand.
Indeed don't get your hopes up, but if Facel Vega makes it in I'll be very, very pleased.

Oh and SrRd RacinG, that compiled added wishlist is seriously flawed, the fact you chose the Merak over the Bora ( the Merak was basically a poverty version of the Bora with a V6 instead of the Bora's V8 ) probably says it all.
Appreciate the effort but I don't believe it's even approaching accuracy.;)

Indeed, we don't need yet another wishlist thread! :indiff:

Don't give me that wishlist garbage comment. :)

Most of those cars are very plausible.

Sure not all are, but that's why I said "speculated".

A wishlist is a wishlist, no matter how you spin it! ;)

It cannot be a wishlist when some of those cars have been mentioned by KY himself (HSV, CR-Z, LF-A).

Again, the list is based off manufacturers we have confirmed and their likely premium cars, new manufacturers PD has hidden from us and a few oldies cars.

And at the end of the day, you love my list. Or at least like it. ;)

@ SrRd,

It is a wishlist for sure. But it is a wishlist I like. Noble M600 FTW

I hope both the M600 and the MP4-12C are in, I'd love to race them against eachother. Neither are confirmed so far, although the Mclaren is likely, and the M600 is high on the top gear lap board which draws immediate attention to itself with PDs links to Top Gear.

Oh come on it's a wishlist alright, the fact all those added cars include some of your own long campaigned favourites says it all.;)
And the fact most of these new Premium cars are at the higher end ( or to be frank mostly supercars ) doesn't lend it more credibility either as the "confirmed" ones include a lot of normal cars as well.
And some of those brands are just highly unlikely ( some unfortunately so, others rightfully so in my opinion ) to make an appearance in GT5....

Except there weren't many Supercars in the E3 Demo. It was a good blend of Msucle cars, race cars, and exotics.

Yes true, but I don't think Premium will only consist of supercars or racecars if he also claimed the Fiat 500 will be a Premium car.
Don't wish to start that whole debate over here, but the only evidence the 500 will indeed be Premium is one screenshot of an interior being modelled and he may possibly be right ( as we simply don't know ) all Premium cars will be cars at the top end for now.

Does not change the fact it is a wishlist ( and not a very convincing could be list in my opinion ) and the only cars being discussed on this thread are the ones already confirmed ( or rumoured by other sources than yourself ), at least that was my understanding.

You know, a while ago, there were some pictures taken of the PD office and one showed them modelling the 300SL's interior. Does that mean that the 300SL is a Premium?

By the logic that only Premium cars will have interiors I guess yes, if Standard also includes interiors then it could be both, if they did model the interior of the 300SL ( I did see that picture too ) but changed the strategy and decided not to feature those interiors ( those pictures are quite old right now ) because modelling all of those cars would take too much time it could still be both as we simply do not know yet.
The only cars which certainly will be Premium are the ones we already saw being labelled as such.:)

That's quite a wishlist.
Zenvo? SSC?kOENIGSEGG?Joss?Gumpert?

Zenvo? SSC?kOENIGSEGG?Joss?Gumpert?

What, do you honestly expect all of those to be left out?

The fact that PD has grabbed Top Gear lends credibility to my list. Sure, the Zenvo might be a stretch and the Vector and the Joss, but the other cars have appeared on the show and have placed a time on the test track.

In my holy opinion, I believe Gumpert and Koenigsegg are in.

Joss would be nice to give Australia a supercar. And Sweden's GT4 car list is pathetic. Two cars. Only one is found in the main dealership. Therefore, bring on Koenigsegg.

I cannot lie. I did think of you when I typed Noble M600 in my list. Knew you'd come along eventually.

I love how people hate on supercars. AHH! Get them out of GT5! We haven't even seen THAT many.

I'd say at least 20 are in out of the 60 I mentioned. Might you agree?

That's the most hardlined wishful thinking I've ever seen

They were on Top Gear, so they will be in GT5! Brilliant.

I'm as hopeful as the next guy, but your conclusion is a bit silly.

I love how people hate on supercars. AHH! Get them out of GT5! We haven't even seen THAT many.

Who has shown any hate for supercars? Your wishlist is almost nothing but supercars. So when pointing out a few cars in it, of course they will be supercars.
