I remember exactly what he said and the question posed to him, quoting his original message still remains.

So ignore them.
Why does it matter what he/she does or doesn't know about his/her car?
And you know for a fact that people buy porsches and BMWs cause that's what rich people do and not cause the cars are enjoyable?

Well, you made it apparent that you didn't read my entire post. You bolded just enough to make me sound discriminate towards rich people. Woo! Nice one! I clearly said that I know there are some people who buy Porsche and BMWs because that's actually what they want to buy because that's what they like.

Well, the thing is, the New Civics aren't too shabby in the performance era. And they look WAY better than a Porsche. I mean, if I parked a Porsche in my driveway, it wouldn't get much attention. But if I parked a new Civic in there, I'd at least get attention from Environmentalists, if nothing else.

@dave, Depends on the civic. But you're right. I'd probably just take the Porsche, sell it and buy a much cooler car....Like the Dasia Sandero...just kidding.

What part of the US do you live in where any modern Civic would ever get more notice from people than any modern Porsche? The current Civic, hybrid aside, isn't even particularly economical.

Look, all I'm saying is if you're going to spend the money on a Porsche, you can find something better looking to spend your money on. To me, a Porsche or BMW in the driveway just says "I do have a lot of money, and I want people to notice it, but I know nothing about cars."

Better looking is incredibly subjective. But since we're heading down the "sweeping generalization" road... a new Camaro or Challenger in a driveway screams "PAY ATTENTION TO ME!" just as much, if not more, than either of the others.

Ok. We've gone from exchanging opinions to now just spewing out crap. A change of subject is needed.

But I don't want something that just looks good. I want something that gives me a rewarding feeling when I drive.
It seems like the pink part describes you perfectly. I can find hints of your lack of automotive "knowledge" in almost every other post you make. The opinions you write sound as you're stating facts and they make you sounds less and less intelligent every time.

👍

It's not that they have more money, it's that they basically walk around in a coat made of money and shove a wad of cash in your face and go "Look at me, I've got lots of money and you don't.

And I do know that there are some people who don't just buy a Porsche or BMW or whatever just because it's a Porsche or BMW. But, there are a lot of people who do buy those cars just for that. I've even met someone who owned a BMW and pretty much knew nothing about it. I doubt he even knew it had a Straight 6 in it. (It was an M3 if I remember correctly.) But, I think if you're going to buy a car, unless you have no real choice, you should buy a car that you like, not because it's the what all the other rich people are buying.

This, this is gold. Especially that first part.

And the second part applies to all makes and models. BMW's aren't somehow unique to this. Just because someone doesn't know the intimate details of a model doesn't mean they don't like it. But hey, maybe you like the Challenger because all the other [insert stereotype]s are buying it.

I read your post and it did make you sound discriminating towards rich folks. You said buy a porsche or BMW if that's what you like. That one statement is supposed to make your entire post non discriminatory?
Trust me, you don't need me pointing things out to make yourself look bad, you do it on your own.

This has got to be the craziest 5 pages on this site I've read for ages.......wow, just wow! 👍👍:dunce::)

I don't hate all rich people, just the smug ones who like to rub their money in your face. And I don't care if someone buys a Porsche. I DO think it's a waste of money, and I wouldn't buy one. But no one, not even the Queen or the President or who ever can tell you how to spend your money. And obviously most people who buy Porsches don't give a body part about what I think or what anyone else thinks.

I think they're boring, and the designers are lazy and I would never own one. But they are fast. I mean the Panamara beat the Maserati Quattroporte and Aston Martin Rapide in the lastest Top Gear Episode. That's great! It's fast! But it's still a Porsche and I still would buy the Maserati...or pretty much anything else. EVEN a Honda Civic. Because, in the end, looks really do matter. I mean, gas milage is great and all, but I want to look good while getting 30+ miles to the gallon. That's why they invented the Tesla Raodster. So you could look stylish and cool while not using any gas.

No matter how many times they recycle the basic shape of a 911 to build a new generation, Porsche already gave us the most exquisite and exciting car ever, the Carrera GT. So comments on how Porsches are boring doesn't apply in a general form, keep the flaming focused at the "Italian" ass-engined car, please. ;)

But isn't this thread supposed to be discussing the master car list?

that sounds like my sister... she got an M3 and when I asked her why she chose the M3 as I was impressed that she actually had some car knowledge and she had gone out and chosen such an awesome car... her reply was almost sickening... "I just asked the dealer for the top of the range"
sorry? when I said you didnt like the spec, the power, the history? I give her a minor rant on exactly what the M badge means... her reply... oh I though it was a bit nippy.
NIPPY? :crazy::yuck:

Everyone is having so much fun arguing about question semantics and rich people, I hate to interrupt the flow with an actual question about the car list, but here goes:

Can we get some addition to the car list to indicate which ones are premium? Maybe just put an asterisk before or after the car name, or change the font color to something else?

Would people please stop asking to have a silly "Premium/Standard" indication on the car list please? We don't have a complete list of what is premium and what is standard so it makes no sense to have it right now at all. Besides, I highly doubt once an official car list is released that there will be any sort o indication as to which is a standard car and which isn't. Just...stop...asking.

BTW: I might have spotted a premium car in GTPSP:

"I been playing for the last hour or so and I came across to this:

80317a2.jpg

Its an AU CERUMO Supra race car from the JGTC,but when I came across the 3d model of the car I found a steering wheel with the respective orange paint",I don't use cfw and I don't have an AV cable to take a good picture of it,but anyone who have GTPSP and have this car can confirm this please,I try to find these details on confirmed premiums(like Ferrari Enzo or Bugatti Veyron) but they do not feature this details,If someone else can take fair well picture of it we may get a new premium for the list :) .

Just a quick question... I've noticed that they say all the cars from GTpsp will be in GT5. What bothers me is this.

There are NO new model cars in GTpsp, despite it being made in 2009. Now its cool they've got the Zondas, Veyrons and Enzos on there... but they are just the GT4 cars. This becomes worryingly obvious when you look at more normal cars and see that, say Vauxhalls they're not even the last models, but the models before them, like 2 generations back.

What I'm wondering is will Kaz and the team modernise all these outdated models or at least introduce the latest models (late 09/10) I hope so as I believe having a game thats so cutting edge its making head spin having such outdated cars will be a bit of a mess up!

Did they say that? They said standard cars will be made up of cars from past games. So while I agree that it sounds like they just took gtpsp cars, which are mostly gt4 cars, and added them, it doesn't mean it's 100%, right?
I pointed this out before, having 1000 cars and only maybe 20 of them being 2008 and newer models. It would be nice if the current audis and BMWs, and many more current models were in the game, but it doesnt look like that will be the case.

No new models? They didn't even have Bugatti, Lamborhini, or Ferrari in GT4. They were all introduced in GTPSP.

I know what you mean, and I've been curious about this too. A great example is how modernized GT4's BMW model lineup was. It covered a lot of their Bangle-era cars and gave you plenty of options. The game on a whole had a ton of post-2001 models, of various levels of performance.

Due to the long design time of GT5 cars, we're getting only the highlights of manufacturer's lineups. Yeah, we haven't had all the Premiums revealed; but we've had a good majority. If we can sort our garages by year, I expect each year from 05 onward is going to have far, far less models in it than other years :indiff:

Thats exactly what I mean... surely they could have the 3 series in but swap say the 2005 model for the 2010 model for example. But I dont see the point of having like I say a 2 generation old Vauxhall Astra in the game. Sure the car makers would want their latest models on show... Ahh well I guess we'll have to wait and see!

We know for sure they'll be Ferraris, lambos in the game but this being GT I am wondering about the more 'normal' cars!

The irony here being that GT is supposed to be an "encyclopedia" of cars, but if you look at just the Premium cars, its pretty heavily skewed towards supercars or racing cars. Will we see the Insignia instead of the pre-facelift, last-gen Vectra? Like you mentioned, the more up-to-date non-M 3-series? There are very, very few cars from GT4 and GTPSP's lineups that haven't been superceded by at least one new generation. The GTI was utterly brand new then; it's since been replaced by the MkVI and expanded.

The only way GT can keep the "encyclopedia" tag is by relying on all these carried-over models from past GT games, where the 80's and 90's are chock-full of variations. Without them, the Premiums don't offer a huge, giant amount of variety that GT is typically hailed as a leader of.

i have a Big question, will VENTURI back to GT5??????? does anyone remember venturi or atlantic cars from GT2???

i would like to see it on gt5!!!!

Car companies that have only appeared in one GT game (excluding GT4):

Vector
Venturi

that's it. :D

There are several cars that appeared in only one or two GT games that never appeared anywhere else. There are even some from the GT Concpet games that never serviced in a full game. And in GTC, the Zonda came in more than one color.

I just found a picture of a hi-res GTPSP model. To be precise, the blue Nissan GTR. Anyone else saw it yet?

So you hate people that have made better decisions in regards to money than you, and have likely compromised their knowledge of cars in exchange?

And your example with the Tesla fails because it is exclusive, no one will understand what it is, and it is something a rich person would buy to be stylish and show they care about the environment. And thus can afford to do so without buying a Civic.

As for unique or exciting, any of the new American Muscle cars fail because they are already so common place. Including the new Camaro... at least 5 of them at WSU, and it is Summer session. More will certainly be here in the Fall.

And of course, why would anyone who is intelligent about cars buy something brand new, even a Civic Si, over a few year old car that performs better and will need almost no additional maintenance to a new, lesser car? More or less, your argument comes down to "they are dumb because they bought an expensive status symbol, and I cannot, thus they must be fools."

Obviously, not the case if they can afford a E92 M3, or what not. In the meantime, you have fun in your Civic, I'll enjoy my smooth ride, power, slightly worse fuel economy.
