Wasn't the footage shown in that trailer still "Vision Gran Turismo", or in other words GT4 in HD resolution and 16 cars ?

Yes, GT4 assets running in HD. Otherwise it's confirmation of Grand Canyon, Cote D'Azure, Citta Di Aria, Costa Di Amalfi, Chamonix and the Motegi Oval too :P

Did anyone pick up on this open lane at the side of the track? It wouldn't match any of the current special stage routes if it's meant to be a pitlane exit.

Maybe the pit lane location has been changed? Just an idea.
By the way, the elevated road above would be the last section of Clubman Stage 5.

It would be something like this, I think:

Last week's news.
Basically, we still don't know. The article doesn't specifically state that Hockenheimring is in GT5 too.

Although I'm not an expert on the SS/SSR's track (I personally didn't care for them much), wouldn't the camera be pointing the direction of the lap?

I suppose it could be a reverse, but the red lights to me would indicate 'pits closed' can't enter.

Looks like it but a car drives towards the camera from that shot in one of the trailers.

But it's not 'cause it dives down into a tunnel. I think the thoughts were that that is either a redesigned SSR5, or a new SS track.

It might be a redesigned route 5 but I wouldn't expect the pits to be relocated there. I'm thinking it will be a new route but using part of the old track(s).

You can also see it here with yellow lane markers.
