Here's the 'old' Fuji layout with the banked turn
fuji65_map.gif

reminds me of High Speed Ring on GT, doesn't it? Except it travels in the opposite direction.

That's true it does, you could even say that PD might have found inspiration for HSR from Fuji :)

Yes, High Speed Ring was probably inspired by Fuji Speedway. Note how coincidentally the pit location is the same.

However, it runs counter-clockwise like the older version of Fuji in its first year of racing (the racing direction got changed to clockwise as the already dangerous banking proved to be even more dangerous in the other direction).

I was thinking that myself, I do wonder if that's the case!

Apparantly HSR is inspired by Fuji Speedway simply because they probably wanted Fuji included in the first GT but the first GT only had fantasy tracks included ( maybe due to not having the resources or licences they have since ).

I knew there was a connection, but I never asked if it was official. HSR is a nice track, it's like a modern rendition of Fuji in a different setting. I hope with the track maker, we could possibly see tracks like that. I have a few ideas of some long sweeping courses with challenging decreasing radius turns!

Weren't Apricot Hill and Midfield Raceways considered to be a fantasy version of Suzuka? (Both use elements of the track)

Ooooh, I'll add them, nice!
But I wonder what difference there are between La Sarthe 2005 and 2009.
Also multiple tracks in the same selection screen in public demos doesn't necessarily imply additional variations.
One of them might have simply been set up for night driving like in the taiwanese demo.

Rain on Suzuka also revealed here:

(I haven't checked other screenshots for new additions yet)

The difference in the '05 and '09 versions of the La Sarthe circuit may be the chicanes at the end of the track, or the sweeping Dunlop curves.

Yes, this is the only difference between the two versions:

I cannot believe this insignificant change will count as a different variation. I wonder if this implies that versions from past decades are included as well.

Lots of good screens there. A "Virtual Vettel" is also seen WITHOUT a helmet...looks like some cool stuff. One day we'll get to play it. :)

Nice find on the '09 Sarthe!

I thought I remember hearing a while back that PD was spotted taking measurements at Spa, but Hockenheim is an excellent track I can't wait for (it's fun in ToCA 3, in any case!).

Nice, nice, I expected a short version of Nurburgring GP.
If you could tell where the pics you're getting are from, so that I can add a source for my track list.

Color guide

[TEMP. NAME] = Temporary name. The track name might differ in the final build.
Blue = Confirmed tracks (seen and recognized from screenshots or videos). Variations of these tracks that have not been properly confirmed (guessed or coming from anecdotal sources) are in bright red color.
Bright red = Tracks seen in videos or screenshot but not yet properly identified. They could end up being Course Maker tracks.

Great! Total # of variations?

52 variations, 84 with reverse

However:
- There are a couple of not quite 100% confirmed tracks although spotted in videos ("Eiger Trail", new Special Stage and Special Stage Route 11)
- I omitted some "obvious" variations (Suzuka West for example. I'm confident it will be in the game) that we haven't seen yet (by this logic however maybe I should remove some of them)
- Original tracks that will obviously appear (deep forest, Grand Valley, etc) aren't in the list either

For a Le Mans layout, one guess would be 2005 un-chicaned. As far as I know, there are few differences in the 2005 and 2009 layout.

I don't know if you guys already identified it, but the 4th variant of La Sarthe should be:
Circuit de la Sarthe 2005 (daytime) No Chicanes
(it is visible in the video frames)

ls5.gif

As other guys noticed in the X1 video:
Nurburgring GP/D (daytime) short variant of GP track
Nurburgring GP/F (daytime)
Circuit de la Sarthe 2005 (daytime) No Chicanes
Circuit de la Sarthe 2005 (daytime)
Circuit de la Sarthe 2009 (daytime) No Chicane
Circuit de la Sarthe 2009 (nighttime)
