Possibly because lately it has been full of nothingness and constant droning on about nothing half the time.

Sorry for answering this in a thread that has nothing to do with the discussion thread GTPer's

Here's Hockenheimring in its old and new layout- lets hope for both renditions.

I'm hoping for the unchicaned version too, if the long version is in.
That should not be hard to make, eventually (Like La Sarthe II in GT4).

I can't find a picture of the OLD old Hockenheimring. Just the pre-2002 layout.

Edit: I found one picture of the OLD layout even before the 6km version
archiv3.

That's the older circuit you have shown, but not the ORIGINAL circuit. The one I have pictured or the 'triangle' was the first 'hockenheimring'. What was know as the 'Kurpfalzring' or oval course is in the picture you show. A big difference you can see is that that track was run counter-clockwise. Also, the track was 12.045km or 12,045meters. While the old one that was run was around wasn't. It seems it was rebuilt in 1938 to that course that you show. Then later on the stadium section was added, as well as the chicanes in the 70's and 80's.

Actually the last link provided shows some photos of the original 1934 12 Km circuit.
Have a look at it.

The Ost chicane was added later.
Quite a technical circuit the older one. I would preffer that one over Tilkes brainfreeze where the DTM and F1 drive on nowadays.

Let' s wait and see if Hockenheim is in GT5 nd with what or which layout 👍

Oh yeah, I realize that. But I was just saying, that the 12km one was the first one, the 'triangle' then the 'oval' was next, then modifications to the 'oval' up until a total revamp in 2002. I liked the 2001 and previous version better.

The old track segments on the Hockenheimring do not exist anymore. It would not be realistic if they include them into the game. If they add them, I demand the Nürburgring southern loop too. This one was actually never in a racing game, as far as I know.

I would love it but I don't think the old Hockenheim will be included, just a hunch.

amazing the old one, amazing!

However i rember Hocke to be in the weather location of gtp like monza spa etcc... i think that at the end we will have all that tracks.

They could still get the Eiger treatment and be part of the "What if" scenarios/additions, of which Yamauchi said there would be several.

having all the tracks from weather location would be amazing and, with the speculations (spa, belgium location and now Hocke) and the confirmed like Monacogp, Monza etc, it i think we'll have all of them.

Shirakawa thank you for all your lists:tup: you're are the trackman.

Why not? The old Fuji was in GT4, besides it was a lot better than the new one.

The problem with old Hockenheim is that you can hardly get track data anymore. The asphalt is out, and the forest has been replanted.

As for Fuji, an "old version" was in GT4, but not the oldest with a first banked curve. This layout has been destroyed as it was too dangerous, and I don't think we'll ever get to see that one (I don't mind that, though).
Regarding the Old Hockenheim, the forest was replanted and unpaved, but the track mark and the forest is now a conservation area.

The 60's Fuji banking was too dangerous, which meant that the first section was demolished. Information of the banking angle, as well as the track layout, still exists today. This means it's possible to make the track, but not to an exact measure.

I agree it would almost be, or entirely, impossible to recreate a fully accurate old Hockenheim with no real data to be gathered on the spot anymore but if there's one medium which could revive an old legendary track which doesn't exist anymore it's a videogame.
There still are plenty of drawings, specifications, photo's, footage, in short plenty of data to use and base a 'replication' on.
At least it's better than nothing in my opinion and would suit the "what if" theme ( what if the old Hockenheim still existed, nice 'excuse' for not being fully accurate perhaps ).

I think there will be a link with the Weather Loction Map and GT5 track, In my opinion the weather showed on the map will be the weather in that track in that moment... so if you want race with rain you'll select a track that is indicated as rainy on the map. It'll be fine...

Imola*, Spa-Francorchamps, Kyalami, Mexico City, Montjuic, RA, Watkins Glen...
Real Men Tracks...
Jackie Stewart / Safety conscious need not apply.
(Hope at least one of these is in the game)
(*Imola pre-Senna crash, before they ruined the Tamburello)

First thing I thought when Hockenheim was mentioned was "please include the old GP layout", but I agree that track data could not be acquired in the same way, even if the owner wanted it to be. It would be harder for anyone to claim your version is incorrect, though, I should add.

In a way, though, these tracks really should be immortalised in games like Gran Turismo. Heck, you could make a damn good track list for a game featuring exclusively defunct and decommissioned circuits/layouts. Games don't need these safety measures, the great-but-deadly old configurations of all these circuits would be great!

Many people around here do wish these great-but-deadly old tracks indeed (old hockenheim, old spa, old fuji, etc). Sure, that would be interesting, however I'd be more interested in the recreation of existing tracks. Even though safety regulation made some circuits lose quite a bit of their flavour, I'm pretty sure that a number of safety-compliant tracks are yet really exciting *refrains from writing a wishlist*

It would be nice to see some crazy old tracks, although preferably alongside their modern day versions.

Here's the 'old' Fuji layout with the banked turn

reminds me of High Speed Ring on GT, doesn't it? Except it travels in the opposite direction.
