So I'm guessing PD still has licensing issues with the real track?

Hmmm... wonder if it is licensing issues. It's kind of surprising, especially after showing "Monaco" in the weather locations.

So, will they still call it Cote de Azur? Or Monaco?

By the way, it is possible (though unlikely) that the track may be more accurate than before, with the real difference being the external stands, etc.

If you called it Monaco, it would be the F1 official track, which it isn't, hence no stands etc. It's just a road course based on the same streets

Exactly. The name Monaco is the name of the whole Country/City, it's a City state like Singapore. They can say it's Monaco, but call the track Cote De Azur if that's what they want. They can't call it the Monaco GP because that's infringing upon F1's license. Unless they have it. So subtle differences, a bigger swimming pool area, less Yachts, no F1 sponsorship, whatever... it's technically the same course bar the angle of a turn or two.

The skyline has changed a bit over the years. The bridge on the right is gone and there is now a big white new appartment building in its place.

I took this picture a little over year ago.

Then why can they use Monza, Spa (maybe), Suzuka, etc.?

I think it has less to do with being an official F1 track as your examples prove but maybe more to do with getting the official licence from Monaco itself or that the Monaco licence is exclusively given to certain games as opposed to those other track examples.
Or with the fact the Monaco track is exclusively used for F1 only once a year as opposed to the other tracks.

My best guess is those circuits aren't exclusively licensed for F1 so the licenses for those can be easily obtained along with all the sponsor signage that comes in the license. Monaco on the other had might by only licensed for Formula 1 and therefore its not allowed for anything else. In fact, I don't remember any other Major series racing at Monaco other then the Porsche GT3 cup and even then its a companion series to Formula one on alot of circuits.

Monaco is used for other events too:

I believe that is actually santioned by the Monoco race circuit

I don't see why there's such a fuss over the name of the track. At the end of the day isn't having the track itself the most important thing?

I'm guessing there's alot of F1 fans so having "Monaco" is far more meaningful then having "Cote D'Azur", even if they are technically the same thing bar a corner or two

My guess is that since Monaco is the crown jewel of F1, they would want a LOT of money for the license to use it in the game...

Given how strict F1 is with their license I think that the only way you could have Circuit de Monaco (the official one) in your game is if you were making an F1 game. I don't think that they'd be as willing to let PD use parts of their license as they're doing with Super GT, WRC and NASCAR.

Current version of my track list:

BTW Shirakawa don't you think that the Hong Kong city circuit could be in GT5,I been playing that circuit recently and it seems like it can be remake, apart from that it can be see a lot of work in the making of that scenario,I could be wrong but take it as a possibility.

(sorry for the medium quality there isn't any good quality GT4 video these days)

Yes, it's possible, and according to the list of reference material found in a video on a Polyphony Digital computer, even likely to be included (maybe with a different layout, though. The one in GT4 didn't flow very well). Personally, I think that all city tracks will reappear, anyway. They're perfect to showcase the game graphics and effects.

It hasn't been seen in a video/screenshot, hinted, spotted by someone or revealed in an interview so it isn't in this list, although it's true that it will most probably be in, as it was in GT4 and it's only a matter of closing down a section of the circuit. Maybe I'll add it in red like Clubman Stage Route 5.

I can't say how much work is involved in recreating those tracks, but Hong Kong was poorly received and it wasn't in GTPSP, so I would say it is at least less likely than some others to be in there. I would have though they would concentrate their efforts on making some other city tracks. As we have seen they can create some pretty special environments (Rome, Madrid) when they want to. Perhaps there will be another Hong Kong track, but it will be different. Who knows.

I think they are use exactly the same sources for GT4 circuits like Monaco, Suzuka, even La Sarthe. Because they've got already pics and videos of old places, no need to extra working, same like cars

Hong Kong wasn't in GTPSP because it was a night-time track, so I wouldn't read too much into that.

I wasn't a big fan either, I'd rather see Opera Paris than that Hong-Kong circuit. There are lots that we could hope for/expect which aren't on that list.

The only reason that list is interesting is because it isn't a complete work of fiction, every inclusion is there because someone has seen it in a video/screenshot or read that it will be there. As Akira says, surely we'll be getting the likes of Grand Valley and Deep Forest, but the list becomes meaningless if tracks are added without a source of some degree of confirmation.

I did make longer and more speculative lists before, but the tracks and variations listed still had some basis for inclusion (including "obvious" variations, tracks in the weather screen in GT5P, tracks from the "leaked list" from a PD pc, tracks from GT4/PSP) except one version I made up to see if it was possible to reach 150 unique variations with about 70 tracks. The one a few posts above though, only includes pretty much confirmed and/or spotted tracks.

Shira, 150 variations with 70 tracks is no problem, just add Paul Ricard to the list and you should have another 180. That's 300% speculation though but it must be said.

Recently I noticed that Shanghai has about 10 different possible variations, so if it gets included (it was in the GT5P weather location screen) it's definitely possible, although in case I don't think that all of them would be included.

This was my speculation before knowing that:

However I guess that Circuit Paul Ricard cannot be beaten :)
