Not having time change and weather at "Daytona" is a load if crap. Variation 1 Super Speedway has the Firecracker 400
on July 4th. That race starts in the evening and finishes under the lights. Variation 2 Road Course has the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. This obviously is a day to night to day race and they race in the rain.

What are these guys thinking!!!

Oh no. I was so looking forward to the 24 Hour race at Daytona. They may still have it but without day to night and weather....:ouch:

Hopefully this is unlockable...

I think the reason any of the 'czech guys' or whoever got the game early haven't posted any of the new tracks is because there likely aren't any. Don't get me wrong I have my fingers crossed for something hidden deep within the game, but at this stage it just doesn't seem likely.

Yeah, and I'm also disapointed that Monaco doesn't have a wet weather option, so we can't drive in conditions like the 2008 F1 race...

I would assume, since the track is on the Mediterranean, that during a heavy storm, they wouldn't run the race as it would be took risky. Also, in severe storms wouldn't the entire bottom half of the course be underwater?

But, I am a bit surprised to learn that the Daytona Road course doesn't have a day/night transition at least.

What would you rather have? GT4 tracks that we've known for six years, or exciting, new tracks, like Cape Ring and Madrid?

Besides, this is a driving simulator. There are more real tracks in GT5, compared to GT4. I know that blasting down El Capitan is fun, but this could be the closest thing to driving the 24hr of Nurburgring.

If disc space really was a concern for GT5, how are they ever going to expand the number of cars and tracks in GT6? Also, how can Forza have so many cars and tracks and still fit on a single DVD-9(or is it multiple discs?), while GT5 is almost filling an entire dual layer Bluray which has a capacity of roughly 50 gigs? I understand there is less detail in the tracks on forza, and in some of the cars(compared to premium), but is the difference in detail really that great? I just want to know how they are going to fit anything else on the disc for the next game.

:dunce::dunce:
Priceless question.

Monaco should have weather, period.

Despite it taking 6 years, it still feels really rushed.

Despite it taking 6 years, it still feels really rushed.

Considering that the premium cars took 6 months each and some of those city courses took 2 years and the X1 project and all the other features we're getting and the fact that it was delayed several times...yeah...rushed is the word I'd use, too.

So you think this, with all its shortcomings, all its omissions, is anything close to fulfillment of Kazunori's vision of GT5?

"I have a dream- that one day GT5 will feature weather, and night-day transitions, and that these features will only function on certain tracks, and that many tracks which people are fond of will be removed. Let us begin work."

I didn't say they rushed it, but when things feel incomplete, you don't get a sense that everybody who produced this can be 100% happy with the product of their efforts.

Personally, I think they eventually had to say "enough is enough, it's taking too long, release what you have before Xmas 2010".

Does anyone have an idea as to how PD have modeled wet tracks?

I'm assuming most games just take the dry track, and add some code to reduce overall grip by X%?

Judging by only some tracks having weather, this isn't what PD have done? What's the 'industry standard' method for this?

It had two discs.

Would you rather it come out NEVER? I maybe in 2020?

This is off topic, but, if you don't like it, don't buy it, but stop crying about it.

We've got some awesome new tracks and the track list we have, probably isn't complete.

You're a fool that thinks that when it rains the sea will flood Monaco, so I'm not going to argue with you.

Glad you agree that they're releasing something that seems unfinished, though.

GT5 seems finished to me. I'll be happy to get it in my hands in a little over a week.

And I didn't say Monoco floods EVERY time it rains, I said, during major storms when the sea is rough. I mean, the track is literally on the sea with no beach or anything to protect it. They probably have to repave that track every few years and all the signs and rumble strips probably get repainted before every race.

There is an EMO thread if you need. Take your complaints there. Obviously, there are more people looking to play the game and are satisfied with it than those who aren't.

Seems is a pretty big word in that context.

Not really fussed about Fuji or the American tracks but Monaco should definitely have had a rain option. :(
And Tsukuba has no wet variation this time? :indiff:

Does anyone have an idea as to how PD have modeled wet tracks?

Modifying the handling should be identical for each track, it is probably down to a graphical/performance reason. In GT4 they had to create an inverted version of the track to display as a reflection in Tsukuba, but I've not seen any obvious sign of track reflections in GT5 yet.

Ah right, I forgot that tracks with weather have only "Sunny" or "Hurricane-storm-surge" settings, I thought it might have just rained a bit.

Not really, I'm expressing my opinion, seems means seems.

So, no "Stelvio Pass" then?

I am considerably underwhelmed with the track list - assuming it is complete, of course.

I would think after 6+ years of developing this game they could squeeze out more than 28 tracks. Didn't Kaz say that "every track from GT4 will be in GT5"?

I think i would pay another 60€ for +20 unique tracks extra :nervous:

I miss my favorites already: Opera Paris, Seattle, Costa di Amalfi, Citta di Aria.

also no Test Course, Apricot Hill, Seoel, Hong Kong, El Capitan, George V Paris, Midfield, Grand Canyon, Motegi, Infineon, Grindelwald.

and no Spa :ouch:

I´m surprised one of the later articles stated that GT´s weather system would give you a forecast based on a certain number of parameters, humidity, pressure, and then the system would generate the weather by itself.

It could rain, could not.

Is this system only working for the 24hs of Nurb and Le Mans?

After watching the video showing practice tracks and seeing the official list of tracks I cannot help wondering if almost every track in the game would be unlocked from the start of the game. Only a few tracks on the official list were missing in the video that was leaked.

Of course, I don't know how much progression the owner had made in the game when he posted that video but it would seem weird that about 90% of the variations would be unlocked at an early level in the game.

I don't know how Kaz may take orders from Sony about how to make priorities for any possible DLC but it's hard to understand how a perfectionist like Kaz is ready to let the game go without some of the most important tracks in the series. I really hope the released tracklist keeps some invisible secrets for us to discover.

Maybe there is weather on all tracks, just not dynamic weather. Maybe I'm getting hopes up, but fasj's last post got me thinking. The weather could be randomly generated, just not with it changing throughout the race (if this is even happening). I don't know, just remember to expect the unexpected. ;) :sly:
