Woolie: dude, if I heard it in High School, metal, hair, or alt (Kobain was starting to trickle over when I graduated), it's considered 'hair band' to me. man, ya made me miss Faith No More...
I hear more "hip-hop", to my ears at least, on the GT4 ST than I do alt. to me, alt is "Stone Temple Pilots"
*smirk* and ye forgot Ozzy, dude!

I agree with music during replays, but there's sometimes you wanna cover very annoying high engine notes (or those that were stuck with a GT2 recording that loops!)
no music is good for those bloody 7 speeds that you can't hear to downshift (gt-R concept and most jags, anybody?)

wouldn't it be a laugh if they threw in a couple OPERA tunes to race to? (Marriage of Figaro, anyone)?

I hate alternative rock, so the current GT4 soundtrack irritates me. Here are some much better driving songs, some of which I'm already using in GTR2:

Aerosmith - Train Kept A-Rollin'
Arcturus - White Noise Monster
Black Sabbath - Lady Evil
Black Sabbath - Turn Up the Night
Bruce Dickinson - King in Crimson (this song would be AWESOME for an opening movie featuring a Ferrari--"The king in crimson comes!")
Dream Theater - A Fortune in Lies
Dream Theater - Just Let Me Breathe
Fates Warning - Anarchy Divine
Heathen - Opiate of the Masses
I - The Storm I Ride
Iron Maiden - Aces High
Iron Maiden - Flash of the Blade
Iron Maiden - Wildest Dreams
Judas Priest - Exciter
Judas Priest - Running Wild
Judas Priest - Tyrant
Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song
Megadeth - Hangar 18
Metallica - Hit the Lights
Metallica - Trapped Under Ice
Overkill - Powersurge
Rush - Far Cry
Rush - One Little Victory
Rush - Red Barchetta (speaking of songs for an opening scene with a Ferrari...)
Savatage - Legions
Symphony X - Witching Hour
Voivod - The Getaway

Heavy metal and fast cars -- born to go together.

You, my friend, have an awesome taste in music. Maybe not in cars, but Ill leave that alone. Great to see someone who knows Bruce Dickinson's solo stuff, but I think Blaze Bayley's would suit it better, thinking "Ten Seconds", "Speed of Light", "Stealing Time" and "Ghost in the Machine".
Some more great driving songs:
Boston - Smokin'
Deep Purple - Highway Star
Deep Purple - Speed King
Iron Maiden - Be Quick Or Be Dead
Iron Maiden - Running Free
Iron Maiden - Losfer Words(Big 'orra)
Iron Maiden - Man on the Edge
Madness - Driving In My Car
Pearl Jam - Even Flow
Rolling Stones - Jumpin Jack Flash
Status Quo - Down, Down
The Who - The Seeker

I would just like a custom playlist from the HD. It would be great to listen to some of the older songs from earlier games, such as; Ash - Lose Control, Garbage - As heaven is Wide, Feeder - Sweet 16, etc. Any other song which wasn't featured, but sounds very suitable for a GT game, I'll add.

Pearl Jam - Even Flow
Songs like that (Even Flow is one of my all-time favourites) are really great, but don't seem to fit into GT's traditional playlist (IMO).

Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf, Dont Stop Me Now - Queen, any Deep Purple song, Radar Love - Goldern Earring etc.
Oh, god no... just no. :scared: ... not in Gran Turismo.

Well, if Panama and Freewheel Burning were in GT4......

I agree. GT3 introduced me to Feeder and I've been a huge fan ever since. Hopefully some of their tracks appear in GT5 or PD implements custom soundtracks.

Definitely some Feeder, would be ace. I'd been a fan for years and thought it was great that their music was used in such a big franchise :D

Mmm... Panama and Freewheel Burning sound a lot more suitable for a racing game then (especially) ‘Don’t stop me now’ by Queen. Songs like that seem to be good on the road, but don’t work too well on the track. I suppose you’d also suggest Meatloaf’s ‘Bat out of hell’?

Disturbed - Plunder
Zepplin - Imigrant Song

Im still thinking of a couple rap songs that can fit in.
I know some hard bass trance songs will fit well also.

Yikes, no way, Meatloaf should never be in this game. However, I dont see anything wrong with Queen, Golden Earring or Deep Purple being in this game.

Oh, and I believe any song (except Meatloaf of course) can easily fit into GT, since Michael on GT4....funnily enough, that song was actually pretty good to race to when driving the lower class cars.

Octavarium by Dream Theater and Close To The Edge by Yes... for endurance races. ;)

On that note, how about

A Change of Seasons by Dream Theater
The Oddysey by Symphony X

On other songs I think The Evil that Men Do by Iron maiden could work on a game, but anyway the best choice for this would be custom soundtrack from the HDD.

That's kind of my take on alt rock like the GT1 music. Bring on the METAL. \m/

Come on, this is just the greatest racing song ever:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMNWM7zy3UE
(TV spot from 1978, not an album track or anything commercial)

"Highway Star" comes close, but not close enough.

"STAAAAAAAAAND BY FOR EXCITER!"

Octavarium by Dream Theater and Close To The Edge by Yes... for endurance races. ;)

I'd be so wrapped up listening to those two songs that I'd stuff the car in a wall.

The thing is, didn't Microsoft buy the "right" to stop any other platform from being able to use custom soundtracks?
How the hell can someone tell someone else, "Hey, you can't use custom soundtracks anymore!"

MS can't talk, anyways. I'm starting to hear of less and less X360 games that allow a custom soundtrack.

I'd start with every Foo Fighter song known to man. Then progress to either Sum 41 or Queens Of The Stone Age...

in no particular order:

"Blackout" by the Scorpions.
"Free-For-All" by Ted Nugent.
"Roadhouse Blues" by the Doors
"Again" by Alice In Chains
"2X4" by Metallica
"Poison" by Alice Cooper
"Hello Operator" by the White Stripes
"Long Train Runnin'" by the Doobie Brothers
a bunch of the Chemical Bros.
et al.
