Bump.

Hopefully in the E3 announcements about GT5 we’ll get more information about the online multiplayer mode and confirmation of private car clubs and racing leagues. I’m sure the vast majority of people will get stuck into career mode to begin with, myself included, but the online mode is where a lot of people will end up and will provide an endless amount of game play.

As we know from GT5P some races can be ruined by idiots ramming and driving dirty so hopefully PD will have addressed that in the penalty system but more importantly provide the ability for private races. Maybe we’ll be able to create a club within GT5 exclusively for GTPlanet members linked to our PSN id’s so you’ll be sure to get clean and competitive racing.

Well... online mode is really a must. I care to be part of a team but most of all I will enjoy racing against my friends and have fun. Even prologue would be much better with a private room option (IMHO)

Hi guys, do we have a thread with gamer tags for like minded racers who can add each other to friends list?
Haven't seen one about. When GT eventually arrives I'd like to race some of you who are interested in online.

Well... I don't think we have it.
In any event I second your thought. If the online features will be good as we expect , there will be a lot of nice battles inside this forum and also outside.. GTPLanet vs GT5rs and vs others...

We already have the GTP Registry (which is discussed here) and the GTP WRS (Weekly Race Series) so there are plenty of like minded people already racing together but this will be a lot easier once GT5 is released. There is already a bit of inter-site racing in the GTP vs. GTRP Thread so I imagine this will continue and grow. To be honest Sphinx is the best man to speak to about online racing as I'm yet to pull my finger out and do the GTP Registry Qualifier but this will be put right very soon ;)

If you'd like to post your PSN i.d's here so that we can add each other to our friends lists then I'll add a section to the first post with a list of who's who but I think it's still a good idea to create a GTP_username PSN account so that other GTP members will be able to identify you in online races.

I agree on creating a GTP_ account. I know there were posts about it but as far as I know it is not that easy to change it... am I right? If so do you know a good link with PSN ID change instructions? Thanks again

I don't know if we already have it here but, if not, I think we should find a way to rate the drivers so that races are competitive. I think I am not that good at the moment and I would play with similar players.
It's just a comment, I know we'll have time to discuss this.

Netcode netcode NETCODE! It has to be the top priority.

You guys can wish for private lobbies, etc all you want, but if the game has lousy netcode, then it will seriously detract from the overall racing experience. I do not want to see cars disappearing, flickering and zig-zagging all over the track like what I've read happens in GT5P.

iRacing is growing at an ENORMOUS pace and is rapidly becoming *the* premier racing game for online multiplayer, because its netcode is superb and racing each other is an almost LAN-like experience. I would take that over private lobbies any day.

But yes, as others have mentioned, things like live spectating with multiple camera views, and the ability to save online races and watch them offline would certainly be welcomed and I'm hoping we'll see those features in the game. But it's gotta about getting the netcode right so we can enjoy racing each other with as little lag as possible.

That says it all really, it doesn't happen in Prologue, maybe one in 30 online races you get someone with a bad connection who jumps a bit, but it's the exception rather than the rule, all in all it's the most stable online racer I've played, when you get in a race that it.

I second. 1 bad connection out of 30 (more or less) is my experience as well.
The only thing I miss there is private room , that would amplify my entertainment. Of course now we expect to have the real GT5 knocking at the door.
I am really curious about the online. They surely prepared a huge structure. If the online features are good there is going to be GT5 races all over the world...24h/day...

👍 I've edited the first post to include a section for people who want to add GTPlanet members to their PS3 friends list so anyone who posts their PSN ID in this thread will be added to the list.

You can't edit the PSN ID of your existing account but it's really easy to create a new account and PSN ID. Sphinx's instructions are here (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=111987) and you can create the account direct from your PS3 or at this link (https://store.playstation.com/accounts/register/beginNewAccountRegistrationFlow.action). I’ve just created a new account and PSN ID so it can’t be that hard ;)

Hopefully by the time GT5 is released we’ll have a good group of GTPlanet members for some informal racing and trackdays as well as more organised race meets

What im going to find interesting with GT5s online mode is what happens when some of the top racing teams from Forza come to GT5. I have hotlapped/raced online competitively on GT5P & FM2/3 and I have to say the Forza racing teams are miles ahead. Im sure it will take them a while to adjust to the physics engine of GT5 but it won't be long before they are topping the LBs.

The teams to watch out for are:

EMW
V12
RSI
TRC
PpR
FRS
HLR
TPR
GSR

There are many more teams that I haven't mentioned. Their are also two particular racers you want to watch out for and these are V12 Backoneabs, Daveyskills. These guys win worldwide competitions and I also heard Daveyskills is actually a professional gamer who earns a living playing video games!!

EvilNeal you were right.. it was a piece of cake. Thanks!
My new PSN ID is GTP_2299
I think you could propose the guys to submit their PSN IDs adding their estimated levels... Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced (maybe we can even have more levels). Again just a thought to group people in a fun race for everyone.

You started this thread over a year out from release, BAHAHAHA.

Epic Fail.

You're a funny guy ;)

GTP_Blitz187 in the house! ;)

my ID is brian523

I've edited the first post with you new GTP_PSN ID

I'll have a think about some sort of ability level but to be honest as we're mostly men we therefore have a distorted idea of our own capabilities...I believe Jay Leno made a an appropriate quote about this on Topgear :D The best way of classifying members abilities will probably be the GTP_Registry & Qualifying Race run by Sphinx so give it a go and I'll add your division to your name on the first post...good luck 👍

my psn is GTP_witham

Ok here we go

PSN ID:GTP_SEMS

or:sems4arsenal

Sorted 👍 ....what have I started :scared:

My ID is Wolfman_UK

Some days I am quick, others I am slow....depends on whether I have had a hard day at work. :)

My psn is weescotman, i've raced a few of thr guys on here and judging from their pace to mine i'd say i was intermediate.

My ID is Dracwolley, or GTP_Dracwolley. I'll have different saves on my profiles so I'll be switching between the two often. I suspect my online gameplay will mostly be on GTP_Dracwolley.

EDIT: I have no idea what happened to the GTP_Dracwolley ID. Could probably still login but it would be better just to use Dracwolley.

Wow I was just thinking about this the other day. I race regularly on forza with a team so my commitment is there for any comps entered into. My rank BTW is champion 25 on forza which really means average but I can hold my own and tune.

PS ID..... GTP_Spag69

I'll send out a few requests if I may.

Will be great to see more great drivers in GT5 👍 The more the merrier me thinks!!

I totally I agree with you, it makes sense to classify drivers in a standard way.
I'll let you know.
