GT5 Online Servers Coming Down?

So what else are you guys doing strategically before the servers shut down? I've been stockpiling cash a bit....playing the seasonals. Mainly because I haven't purchased all the cars I want. Hording paint chips?

If I understand correctly, all gifting from another account goes away as "Community" is getting hacked?

Money's maxed out, but the Seasonals are really the only reason I play. So, I'm just waiting for the next one. Hopefully, they'll squeeze a couple in before "THE END".

Also, I'm looking for a trade partner for chrome paints.

20 million should be fairly easy to hit with these seasonals... damn, why can't they keep them around.... at least "static" as part of the go forward. I'm interested to see if the UI will change at all or all those features will just be dead links in the game. I mean, we're talking a good percentage of the home screen navigation connects with online features. Just talking aloud here.....

Yeah, they're basically saying "Oh, you don't have GT6 yet? We can help with that. POOF! You now have no reason whatsoever to play GT5!"

1.) buy every expensive ride from the UCD
2.) run B-Spec Seasonal #5 to replace cash
3.) buy more expensive rides from the UCD
(stocking up on the goodies before D-Day)

stop playing gt6 or forza - they have plenty of life left

play GT5 seasonals like mad to grind cash

hit the UCD/OCD and buy up cars so you got heaps of cars to use for the apocalypse

This is a real bummer. I just started racing online a couple of months ago and now it's going away? I guess this is how they are forcing people to buy GT6 huh?
Or it could just be that PD are shutting down the GT5 servers to save costs so they can put more money into GT6. I always try to look on the bright side of things.

Yeah, despite things that didn't make it into GT6, there's a lot that did make it and new tracks always make me happy. I picked up one of the 15th Anniversary Editions before they disappear completely. But that doesn't mean I want to stop playing GT4 & GT5, I really enjoy playing them all and don't think I am alone either. Hope they don't forget about that.

The GT5 DLC's are fairly inexpensive and some of them are free of charge.
That's another thing to think about doing before the online services end.

Glad I took the time to do go through the UCD before online services end.
It's a little extra work, but I am stocking up my garage with nice goodies for later. :D

By the way ... this is probably common knowledge, but ... anyone fortifying their inventory and/or bank can get $1mil per race at the Online A-Spec Challenge #4.

Just keep your daily Online Login Bonus current (200%), hop in the old McLaren F1 GTR, and run the 1-lap Ring. That $500k doubles to $1mil each win.

And you can even use racing-soft tires! Zip, zip, zip!

Alternatively, the latest Real Circuit Tour Seasonal Indy track is 5 laps for $420,000 1st place. With a significantly lower PP potential and 200% login bonus, it's possible to get upwards of approximately $2mil per 7.5 minutes of driving.

I believe $420k × 200% only equals $840k.

As far as I know, the 650pp Ring in Challenge #4 is the highest paying race with the shortest time ... $500k for 1 lap (about 9 min).

There's a $520k Suzuka, but it's 10 laps.

I'm getting 895K per race with B-Spec Challenge #5 in a Lotus Evora on Autum Ring.
I run 5 in a row, collect wanted cars from the UCD, then run another 5 in a row, etc.

... best part is I'm not chained down to my chair.

Yeah, not optimal to collect all the museum cards and have them go away.
Maybe think that online content kind of thing through next time around.

Right, but with the PP differential, the amount can double. Admittedly, that's not 2 mil, but is $1,680,000, and that's not chump change. :)

I got you now. In the time it takes to run The ($1mil) Ring once, you could run Indy twice and make $1.68mil. And still have a couple minutes leftover for a Hotpocket.

Still, there's nothing like seeing that "Cr. 1,000,000" after just ONE lap!

Hot pocket... Nice. And here's the rub - even though the payout per minute is greater on Indy, I would rather run the Ring for 7 min and $1mil, than 6 min of left hand turns and $1.6 mil at Indy. Although the money is nice, I play the game for the fun, not the grind, and the Ring is my favorite track. Either way, it's more fun and more money that GT6 is right now...

Agreed 100%.

Hey, you wanna have fun ... try catching that McLaren BMW on the Ring, using racing-hard tires! Oh yeah.

P.S. I was lucky enough to grab a US release of GT6 15th Anniv edition off Ebay. It came the other day, but I refuse to open it til GT5 is dead (Jun 1).

Its all depressing really. GT5 is one of my favourite games of all time and they choose to give it the lethal injection on my birthday (the 31st). :(

Do remember that in GT6 Seasonal TTs offer paint chips not available any other way and disappear quite rapidly. It's about the only thing you'll lose at this point, but some think it's important as it's really the only "collectable" in the game at this time.

Yeah, I figured I'd be missing out by waiting, but then again it's been out since 2013, so I'm already behind the 8-ball.

I did pop it in the other day to download the 25 cars, though.

Im still looking at GT6 being full price in Canada $60 plus tax. No reason to buy as its so similar to GT5. I would pay $35 or a trade in I guess. I still like GT5. Too bad about servers going down completely. Seems strange in this era of online play.
Anyone know a cheaper place to buy GT6 IN CANADA so I can still play online?

To your question, sorry, no. But I don't know where you're getting that GT6 is similar to GT5. Mostly the same cars, mostly the same tracks. After that, the entire game plays differently. There are improved physics/graphics, but several glitches with each. Special events in GT6 are laughable yet make you cry, and you'll be done with the career in a week or less if you spend more than an hour a day playing it. Granted, GT5 will wither considerably without the online components, but GT6 still isn't half the game GT5 was.

When I dowloaded the 25 (anniv) cars, I noticed that the thumbnails weren't created automatically and I had to do each one manually. I sincerely hope there's some setting I overlooked or something ... and that you don't have to manually create each thumbnail.

I didn't get the AE, so all I can even think would be updates, or it's just a thing with the AE cars. Never had that problem with cars obtained in-game in GT6. In GT5, the only time I had that was if I reloaded a game save after trading a car, that car would need it's thumbnail reinstalled. You have to be online to even get the AE cars, right? So that's not an issue?
