GT5-Prologue Impressions Thread

Yes there is a neutral when you miss a shift. If you shift without pressing the clutch your car will fall in neutral. ( thats what i heard from others who has it )

thats good, its a penalty and will spit time at you. :sly:

if you think the tracks are too dark, change your TV setting to brighter, i hear that TVs in japan use somewhat diff settings thats why you might get them a bit dark.. but i dont kow, someone here mentioned that..

so sombody said the G25 is 100 times better then in GT5p demo. so is the feedback much stronger? responsive? more info plz :)

Been playing GT5P most of the weekend, using a G25 wheel and a GameRacer Pro seat, 42" plasma, and full sound system.

The game is awesome and can only improve from now on, 100 times better then the demo.

However i think the AI's are a bit harsh in respect that they will will not try to avoid you if you spin out, in GTR they will.
Also penaltys against you when you have not hit an AI and they have hit you.

London track is a bit dark in places.

The best race i have had is the Daytona infield, awesome.

Been well worth the wait, well done Kazunori Yamauchi, PD and all involved:tup:

Yeah London can be a bitch with the Sun at the angle it is in the demo... a night race or a different placing of the sun would cure this

In another thread someone said there was an "S" section , anyone know anything about this? All I've found is C,B and A section, and I've finished all those even though I have one Silver in the A section.

kind of unrelated but some people have said the game has been easy. which it has been so far but this swift race all of a sudden has ended up a lot more difficult. easy to complete with "arcade" mode but on professional i'm about a minute off.

doesn't help a lot of the time i keep missing gears forgetting there is a clutch pedal there.

In the A Class races they get a bit more diffcult.

Yes this true. When I first started playing the game with G25 I had to get used to pressing in the clutch before enaging the gear.

I've got a question about the "over-correction" issues when using the hand-controller.

Are RWD cars more drivable now using the controler? Or do you still end up spinning out almost everytime you get into a slide?

I have a couple of gripes.
Lack of AA leaves an underwhelming feel. Gorgeous game, 'til you see shimmering jaggies in the menu and when you purchase a car (not to mention gameplay, something that still images dont show...the shimmer from the AA). As for framerate stutters, they can be a little disorienting, but dont really seem to take away from the game. Slight vsync issues and tearing exist but also dont seem to take away. :)

Penalties!! ARGH! Sometimes these are going to happen no matter what, and irritates me that in some situations, its inevitable. Such as, you're boxed in and on the inside of a corner and getting pushed. Allow AI to keep contact and get penalized or cut corner and get penalized (at this point I just restart the race and try to take another route). There are various situations that cause this to happen when it shouldn't.
Just unlocked the S section and wow, what a great game!!

I'd put money on your TV being setup incorrectly. If you go into your TV settings, I bet that either something like edge enhancement is on or your sharpness setting is not set to zero.

On my set there is some aliasing, but its nothing major. Overall the game looks great.

seems to be noticeably darker using the "in car" view..... swap to bumper cam and suddenly it is brighter.... clearer and generally smoother too :)

but i love both views...... just wish i had a camera to record some laps with the corvetter and mustang..... the v8 sounds so much better now!! and they are both lots of fun for powersliding because they seemed to have improved the physics now and made it more natural to hold a slide without over-correcting even when u "DONT" over-correct :)

It's because of HDR that the cockpit view might seem darker, as some areas of certain tracks, it does make it seem more realistic, but it's also something camera people usually try to avoid, as it's considered something bad. (such as flares.)

The sounds are definitly made in a whole new way, they just sound a lot more real...
Physics don't seem imrpvoed at all to me from the demo.

Driving is 10 out of 10!!!!!

2 hours of playing so far....I've purchased the Honda Integra Type R to start off with. Second car purchase was the Acura NSX. OMG...
The implementation of the clutch with use of the Logitech G25 is really impressive. From reading some of the reviews, it wasn't clear how well they did the clutch, but after playing it for myself, I'm really impressed. Clutch techniques all simulate an authentic response when driving the car as I would in real life. I was impressed with what Enthusia did with the clutch being the first PS2 game to have it, but now Gran Turismo supporting the clutch on the G25 pedals...I'm blown away and really enjoying this game!!!!

Hey guys whats the overall best car>>?? The S events are significantly tougher! Any advice?!?

hahaha isn't that what everyone wanted?? tougher races!! can't tell u just yet.... will probably be opening the S level tonight... have been working my butt off and havent had time to play....

but i would guess that the f430 is probably right up there....??

one thing i found strange was in the A class (london) race using the R8 when i was in 4th place on the straights the sti's and evos etc were actually pulling away from me???? what's up with that?? only under brakes was i able to get em.. seems bizarre to me....

hmmm what cars have u sampled thus far??? i cant say im much into the FF cars but i think all the others (especially rwd) cars have improved heaps... u can hold yr drifts now with a lot more enjoyment... and u can do them with wheel or controller....

sure the change from the demo is not easy to spot straight away.... but it's there.

i i definitely see a major difference. I drove the audi r8 at a game expo a month or so ago and the car was glued to the ground. ran exact same settings and the r8 now is a lot more lively than before. even the gtr feels different.

quickest way to earn money? shortest race + biggest prize = ???

I agree completely, the clutch is better implemented than I expected, driving now is so much more better.

I had a blast last night just putting N1's on the Suzuki Cappuccino and fooling around Eiger.

Oh and the tyre sounds are greatly improved, not just the sound but the range of sounds.

I just dropped 32000000 of my hard earned cr. for a 599... wish i had bought the f430. how is it? does it whip the GTR?

S-7 the ZO6 time trial at Daytona is the best I've found so far.

Once you get a groove going you can earn 3 million for 2 laps.
I got up to 70 million real quick that way & went on a spending spree & got both Ferrari's with cash left over.

I accidently sold my NSX. :(
Didn't understand the menus and just clicked, clicked and clicked until it showed that my NSX was gone.
I remember what I did though and I won't make the same mistake next time! haha

yeah the option in the right when going into the shoroom for the car you own sells your car. i sold a 147 doing that.

sweet to know about the s-7 z06 trial. ill give it a shot tomorrow. have 4 races left in s class, 7 races all up though including ones i havent done that i want to get gold in. then its off to start the manufacturer events.
