GT5-Prologue Impressions Thread

oh god. i hope PD can achieve 60fps replays and not make it a "special mode" like they did in GT1. i love and still do race cars\time trail in GT4 just to watch the replays...call me weird but its a car thing........O_o

yeah the option in the right when going into the shoroom for the car you own sells your car. i sold a 147 doing that.

sweet to know about the s-7 z06 trial. ill give it a shot tomorrow. have 4 races left in s class, 7 races all up though including ones i havent done that i want to get gold in. then its off to start the manufacturer events.

I'm kind of glad I figured this out early before I accidently sold something of more value like a Ferarri. Not to say that accidently selling the NSX wasn't of high value, because it actually is pretty expensive compared to other cars in the game.

I´m stuck on Mission C8.

I always get 4th place with my Honda Integra, no matter how good I drive.

Please help me on this.

The game is amazing btw :D

I accidently sold my NSX. :(
Didn't understand the menus and just clicked, clicked and clicked until it showed that my NSX was gone.
I remember what I did though and I won't make the same mistake next time! haha

I just accidentally sold a car too. Definitely got the rotten end of the deal. I didn't do it in the dealer showroom though, I believe I lost it somehow fiddling in my garage?? Does anyone know what exactly we're clicking on here?

It happened to me from the garage menu. I was viewing the cars in my garage and clicked on the for sale option (the one all the way to the right).

I hope so...
I'm buying it again tonight. I got ripped off on the sale.

hey man that sucks :(

will it be easier for you to wait for the US or European release? wait those couple extra weeks, never get ripped off since you can walk to your game store and pick it up with everything translated?

i guess you are a BIG GT fan :sly:

You need to draft very carefully from the beginning to have enough speed to get by the last 4 cars. Pass them tight on the inside on the last turn into the finish.

I bought a F430 today, and what a fantastic machine it is. The animation after a purchase where the car drives up to the screen like a shark lurking out of the deep blue is pretty cool.

The implementation of the clutch with use of the Logitech G25 is really impressive. From reading some of the reviews, it wasn't clear how well they did the clutch, but after playing it for myself, I'm really impressed. Clutch techniques all simulate an authentic response when driving the car as I would in real life.

Can you expand on this a bit please, as I'm torn on whether to go for a G25 and wonder how the clutch would affect the driving experience apart from the added involvement in shifting?

added movement in shifting + if you want to kick a car out mid corner you can rev it up by popping the clutch in (probably best for drifting).

i wouldn't buy a g25 just for the clutch. its the whole package that makes the product good. steering/feedback is improved over the dfp and the product feels a lot more solid with its alloy bits.

Argeed, at first I was pretty much buying a G25 for the clutch function until I found out how nice the entire wheel performs and feels not to mention how great the pedals feel now.

did you play with DFP before? goin from DFP to G25 is like night and day :)

I've got a question. Where in the hell is the Xanavi Nismo Fairlady Z and her Bandai Dunlop SC opponent? I mean one was in a GT5:P article and the other was in a trailer. Is this going to be some sort of Christmas surprise or what?

wha? i dont think there are any racing cars in the GT5P ..

I also pretty much bought the G25 just for the clutch and H gate function, but the whole package is just a huge improvement over the DFP, very happy with it.

Haha I almost done that to my Honda integra Type R, then I noticed a number that was less than I paid for it and figured that was the sale price, I was right. :D

I was impressed with what Enthusia did with the clutch being the first PS2 game to have it, but now Gran Turismo supporting the clutch on the G25 pedals...I'm blown away and really enjoying this game!!!!
I'm a bit shuffled now, as other owners of Prologue and the G25 reported that the clutch only is an on-off-switch yet.

Well I had two hours play on my copy last night, then my TV went bang! D'OH :( So now I have to buy a new TV. I had thought about upgrading to a 40 something 1080p set anyway, but I really don't have the £££ at the moment!

Got it now, can't wait for the online, got the M3 coupe already (did the integra make race 8 times in a row hihi :D)

Almost done with the C races and my best for the mission race is silver... gold is almost there! :D

Its not, it may seem that way if you just race. but if you stop and try slowly it does infact have a biting 'range' (though a narrow range) where you can actually slip the clutch. If you just drive fast, with out trying a bunch of slow take offs you'll never notice it.

I did a whole bunch of hill starts (Eiger), takes some practice to pull of smooth slippy (mcdonalds drive-thru style :D) starts consistantly.

yep i made a mistake orginally posting it was an on off switch as i was only looking at changes between gears and being fast so i never noticed the grab point. after testing from a slow start there is definitely a grab point. but yeah when racing you dont notice it/doesn't matter as much

Yeah, I think I've figured it out now. Far left option is (almost always i think) to cancel out of the menu. middle selection is to choose/make active car. far right selection is to sell it. I should've noticed that it had mentioned something about credits when i chose the far right option. :banghead:

I'm not that far yet, but can you tell me how to unlock S class? Do you just need to finish all the pre-existing classes? Or do you also need to place gold in each race?
