To show off the power of the PS3 and also Sony's new SRX-S110 projector GT5 (or maybe its just Prologue) was shown at the Downshift Session 2008 event at 4 times the resolution of full HD using 4 PS3's linked to produce 1/4 of the total image. 
That's 3840x2160.
So for your future gaming fix I guess all you will have to do is link a few PS3's together.
