Sound is pretty much the only thing I'm not disappointed with in any way in GT5 so far. It's a complete improvement over previous games.
Now I'd like to hear some american V8 to see if PD finally got them right this time.

That's the real thing, they somehow managed to capture the growly snarl on driveby 👍
PD must be running them on a track now

The FTO (standard) behind him sounds good too

Honestly I am not much of a sound guy for I am not a hardcore racing guy. So I didn't pay much attention. It didn't make or break the game for me for I am more of a casual gt-fan. Now that I have heard some comparisons from GT4 to Gt5, the sounds have improved quite a bit. With a good surround sound system I am sure it adds to the whole feel of racing. The leaked videos can't give sound its justice. I can't wait to get my midnight release.

Is it me, or do I hear some warble from this Mine's R34 GT-R on upshifts? :)
Sounds different to the Prologue version BTW

True...everything else revealed has been a big sigh of disappointment for me.

I'm hoping american V8s sound better also. Most of the stock sounds were ok, but when you put sport exhaust, etc it sounded like a 4cyl. Although, by the looks of it they should be greatly improved.

All the race cars are now the weak link as I expected, but it's ok as there are better sims out there and upcoming to take care of those areas.

What's important is that everybody is super happy with how the production cars sound, and that the vacuum cleaners are finally put to rest. Not forgetting photo-mode which I'm really amazed about, and I never care about stuff like that! I've never seen anything like it that's been so well explored and polished. That, is what really encapsulates GT the best.

Another video for sound guys, where you at CoolcolJ Your the man in this thread you should be getting these videos.

Is anyone else hoping that GT5 punishes you for completely not matching revs when downshifting with G25/G27? Prologue seems very forgiving in this respect...

When I heard it, I thought it basicly sounded like in the demos, but a bit rougher, less Rotary like. I don't think the real thing sounds like that.
The Supra GT should sound like the SC430 pretty much, since they use the same engine in SuperGT

This is basicly the same car, under different livery. It has the LCD dash and all

Plus it's missing the transmission whine. Which is weird, because they had the whine going before in the Time Trial and demos, but then just remove it totally? Then again a lot of things PD have done don't make sense :/

No doubt the TT demo sounded very good with the whine.

That´s exactly how i feel right now.

I will still buy and drive 1000+ hours, but after TGS it´s been one bad news after another.

I'm sorry CoolColJ, but you are completely wrong. That is in no way the same car. That video you post is of a car from 2004, where the engine and car itself is completely different from the 1997 car. The Castrol Supra GT has the 3SGTE Engine while the 2004 AU Cerumo Supra has the 3UZ-FE V8 engine.

I'm trying to hold out on watching the recent videos, I want to wait until I play it myself. Have they removed most of the gear whine that we heard in older demo builds?

Not a good recording, but the transmission whine is pretty evident.
Interesting, they still use clutches, pedal work shown towards the end
And throttle lift is needed to shift up
.

Sounds good - need to turn it right up, but I can hear that angry snarl when rally cars are under load in real life 👍
Something that's hard to simulate in games. And..... transmission whine in the cockpit view :)

Full retail version I believe

Yeah, but at least they got the basics right.
Dare I say, best sounding rally car in game by far?

Most games have audio taken from in car cams, which have no bass.
Even Dirt 2 sounds lack the snarl of rally cars on dirt/gravel seem to have

Wouldn't be hard to add the anti-lag bangs in
