Sounds great in my opinion.

I am pleasantly surprised too. I loved F430 in Prologue although the sound was awful, it was just sharp and exact driving machine. Now this is surely going to be one of my favourite cars in the game.

Just watched the replay with all the Prototype at Circuit De La Sarthe. Noticed many of them sound, for lack of a better term, beefier. For instance, the R89C sounds abit like the one in GT4, but its seem much deeper. Also, it appears so far the V12 race cars (The Jaguar XJ220 and the jaguar XjR-12) do not share the GT-One sound thats been there since GT2. Hopefully this is the case with the Bmw v12 LMR and of course, the Toyota GT-ONE.

Not sure if this has been posted but....yummy! It does say with the right system though:

Damn, that sounds mean. As much as I felt the mustang in GT5P sounded great, this just tops it 👍

Also, win for Deadmau5 remix in video.

Good idle, but it completely weeds out by the mid-range and gets worse the higher it revs. - Sounds like a 250cc bike engine. 👎 My aspirations are fading fast.

There's loads of direct-feed videos out there people aren't posting here, including the Gallardo cockpit that isn't that inspiring either, bug free but synthetic as always.

What a joke. That mustang doesn't even sound like a car when it revs, it sounds like a bike. Words can't convey my disappointment, the engine note is the soul of a car, there's no way I'm going back to this GT4-esque droning white noise after 3 Forzas worth of actual car sounds. I was looking forward to finally selling off my 360 that I hold onto for a single game.

I'll see you guys in the GT6 sound thread, hopefully they fire the obviously deaf sound guys by then...

So because of one car, no GT5 for you?

You won't be missed.

I like the sounds, they are much better than any previous GT game so I'm fine with that.

The Veyron sounds like a high revving V6.
The Challenger posted a few pages back sounds nothing like a V8.

I'll keep poking around here looking for more video's but as of right now I'll probably play it by ear instead of buying day 1... I think maybe romping through the snow and rain might be fun enough for a buy, I love rally racing, especially gruppeB.

TBH I'm just crushed right now. I had my hopes set high. I mean Forza sounds amazing and Shift isn't too shabby, why the heck does GT5 sound like this? It's like they don't care about the audio at all!

UGH...

Who's to say that it doesn't have a different exhaust on the Mustang?

I don't see where the video says it's a stock mustang. I doubt they would change the sound of the Mustang in GT5 prologue to make it sound like that. It sounds like a Mustang with some sort of tuned or racing exhaust (the way GT makes some of the race exhausts sound from the past). Just my opinion, but that to me doesn't sound stock. If it is, I guess I'll eat my words when I get the game in a few days, but we'll see.

I won't be missed I'm sure, because I barely posted here. But you don't have to be a jerk. I'm disappointed, I didn't insult you, so relax. The game's still gonna sell a bazillion copies and get perfect 10 reviews.

Yes it is okay but everyone is whining and complaining around here and it is annoying :guilty: We need a serperate thread for whining.

If adding a racing exhaust makes your V8 sound like a food processor, well, they didn't get that right either.

Stock or not, that Mustang does not sound anything like a V8...it doesn't even sound like a car for that matter. Same goes with the M3 in other vids. Lower revs & idle; it sounds pretty good. Higher revs & in the power band; sounds like a vacuum.

It's very generic sounding and kinda ruins the experience. Part of what makes a car 'cool', virtual or not, are the noises it makes. Big lazy V8's have that unique burble that transforms into a roar when you're on the gas pedal. The bigger the V8, the deeper it sounds. This cut & paste appliance audio stuff has to go.

Yes, exactly. And this is a racing game, you're in the power band most of the race... I'd rather a crappy idle and great sound higher in the revs, as I'm sure most would.

It's my first post in here and I wanted to agree with those who say the sounds have improved. I think the 458 generally sounds good, even the gear shifts sound quite similar. There is the lack of high rpm screaming though!

I don't know if blow off valves have been covered in this thread, but I saw one of the latest Subaru videos at Eiger, and I think I heard that generic blow off noise that was on all turbo cars in GT5P... :nervous:

I was somehow hoping that maybe with tuned cars, upgraded turbo kits, the noise of the blow off valve would change...I am starting to doubt this sadly.

What do you guys think? Will there be a change in sound with upgrades?

For example, GT5 has both the normal R34 GT-R, and the Mines R34..
But from GT5P we have seen that the mines does not posses the crazy sounds that we can hear in the video of the real deal

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsEYc3AWooU

another example of a tuned version of a car available on GT5...the Lancia Delta. The sounds of the turbo, wastegate and exhaust are insane..but knowing PD I don't think they have done much to replicate certain sound effects

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jb4l-vCdGA

Staying on the topic of turbo/supercharger sounds, I have a bad feeling that supercharged cars will not have that particular whine that they do in real life..

Example, one of my favourite cars, the Lancia S4 (Supercharged/Turbocharged)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lU785z8-2qI

out of curiosity this post reminded me of the times I played rFactor, and the great sounds people had recreated for turbo cars...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWGTad1UoW4&feature=related this 935 package actually sounded similar to the real thing

I don't think there is any game that is able to replicate car sounds precisely, although some are very close with certain cars, and I think PD has room to improve 👍

edit: tried to embed the videos but failed miserably..too tired to read up on it, i'll fix it tomorrow

For anyone complaining about the vehicle sounds, and I'll just pick on the Mustang because it's handy, keep in mind that you're listening to the sound coming from someones TV speakers, being recorded by a (likely inexpensive) camera, uploaded and compressed for youtube and then played on your PC speakers.

It's not going to sound outstanding.

You can definitely hear a big change in sound from the stock 300ZX at 7:45
to the modded version at 11:03 using the game's sweet demo mode.
It's gone from a stock dual twin pipe exhaust system to a dual single big bore exhaust

Anyone managed to get the ae86 yet? I`ve been doing a race, then checked used dealership, then another race, then used car dealership again, for the entire day, and the ae86 still hasnt popped up there.

I was just wondering if anyone has checked out the sound of it yet? Or what about the 240Z or the 280Z?

There is a video of the 458 Italia on Monza and it shows an Enzo with dual big pipes instead of the normal quad pipes. It obviously had upgraded exhaust and it sounded damn good.

Here's a vid upload that was not taken with a cell phone camera nor was it recorded off of someone's TV;

That's the 'Trans-Cammer' SEMA winner. Does that sound like a V8 to you? Does it even sound like a car? Nevermind the fact that it's supposed to have a ginormous V8, does it sound 'unique' or does it sound like a generic appliance?

Owh, and no matter what car I`ve driven and tuned so far (Yes, sounds change with engine tuning) the sounds are great.

I took a 98 Sileighty and boosted it up, installed titanium exhaust, and it sounds awesome (Not to mention slides great on rainy suzuka)

Must be your speakers dude. Sounds like a V8 to me. Not a great sounding V8,but a V8 none the less.

I can't find any videos of the real deal actually running so I can't say for sure but how do you know that's not what it actually sounds like?

I've owned muscle cars with 7+ liter engines, one even ran on av gas...none of them even remotely sounded like that. To me, that video doesn't even sound like a car. (even with Sony headphones)

A big V8 is violent. It's really too bad that GT5 couldn't tap into that. Everyone, at least once, deserves to take a quick ride in something as brutal and unsophisticated as an overpowered muscle car. There's nothing quite like it.

Here's a video of a Ford 427 (7.0L), skip to 0:45:
