What a joke, what exactly was the improvement again??
You might have expected too much since it said "Improved Racing Sounds" and not "Improved Engine Sounds".

sounds are very slightly improved with the 2.0.2 update, the engine sounds are still not raw enough. This is the only weak point of the game. I hope PD and Kaz can make a total revamp on the engine sounds of all the cars in the game for the next update, then this will be the best game ever. I'm still going back between this and Forza 4. The sound really adds to the experience and that is the only thing missing. Please Kaz, find a way to solve this sound issue once and for all. We are happy with all these updates to constantly improve upon the game, don't stop now. Give us great ENGINE sound please!
Two changes I've noticed in the sound after this patch:
1. At least in my open-cockpit Audi R8 Race Car, the wind noise is more pronounced, something that I think needed some more noticeability for all cars.
2. Engine sounds for most cars in general sound a bit 'meatier,' as if slight exhaust upgrade. Or it could just be the placebo effect in action again.
The wind is even more obnoxious. Sorry Kaz, not all cars have tissue paper for interior insulation. Nor do all people drive with their windows open all the time.
Why the hell we can't edit volume of particular effect? Engine, brakes, wind, stone chips (I know they aren't there), crashes and bounces etc.

Edit. Just played the GTR event time trial thingy. (Got a ticket fur just trying it)
Anyway. Hitting a barrier sounds exactly like have my head in a drum and someone hitting it with a mallet.
When dropping gear and bouncing off the limiter it sounds like a snare drum.
Wind noise seems extreme for a closed cocpit car
why dont we all just sign a email or everyone send 1 email with the same text and stuff to PD?? having alot of people emailing them will definately put some affect on their next update. gt5 only has rfactors racing sounds missing. lets just put together an email and let everyone send them this email.

In GT5 aftermarket exhausts have increasingly different noise levels, they don't just change sounds and performance. Try installing a better one.notStigThe new sounds effects are nice. The wind efect is very cool. they seem to have adjusted the sound mixing because a lot sounds a bit different now. There's just one thing I noticed while drving the Stars and Stripes seasonal: the engine sound on my Viper SRT-10 ACR (probably on the regular Viper as well but I have not tested it) is so low that is barely audible. When there's another car nearby or when there's tire noise I can hear nothing. Is it just me? If not, they should make it a lot louder.

I know that better exhaust are louder but I was using a stock ACR with no mods and i don't think a Viper is that quiet IRL. It was very low even on chase cam. I don't want to have to install an aftermarket exhaust just to hear my car.
JavI really can't notice any real improvements on car sounds, the sound samples are still misplaced, the cars still sound like vacuum cleaners. Only thing that's noticeable is the playback audio quality of replays and tire squeal, oh yeah and the gale force wind effects!
