No its a totally different sample from what it was pre 202. I'm thinking glitch on my install. As stated, its clearly a 4 banger now đź‘Ž

What exhausts were on your zr1 and camaro?? I think I tried the zr1 with race exhaust and it was still crap sounding last night. If those are the exhausts you have been running they have been pretty off forever.

To everyone with crap speakers and default sound, Sorry your car sounds suck. My Sony Surround Sound with the new update is right on in the sound dept.

Well good for you, but not everyone can have a 5.1 7.1 system. And guess what? The sounds are still crap! Clearer crap but crap non the less!!

So is it just me or has the turbo whoosh been tweaked slightly. My stock supra is pretty distinctive if I just add the stage 3 turbo.

@Jav: What can you expect from a TV speakers.. :)

Not much, that's why I have a 5.1 and a 32 inch monitor dedicated for my cockpit.
But other games and real simulators make it work just fine, why can't PD do the same? Not everyone can afford nice toys you know.

With the new update, it seems that the engine and turbo sounds more prominent in the cockpit view. At least that's what I felt with my lovely Citroen C4. :)

You know, the sound for the Citroen, Suzuki and Ford WRC Cars was pretty decent in cockpit before 2.02.

The exhausts in GT5, for me, are not really a power adder. I only choose which exhaust I want by it's sound, not by how much power it adds to the car. I would rather have a good sound and less power, than a horrible sound and more power.

Yea, that's exactly what I do, and I did to all my favourite cars. đź‘Ť

I have heard tweaking the sound setting both on XMB and GT5's options can improve the sound quality. I only have TV speakers, so what are the best settings for it?

Stereo (2-channel, 48kHz) in both the XMB and GT5. đź‘Ť

It's not the best; before 2.02 it was a bit lacklustre in terms of spatialisation, now it's too far the other way (in my opinion, with headphones.)

I know I need to get a surround system. I just wanted the best possible settings for what I have. Thanks đź‘Ť

I agree that with headphones they've exaggerated sound spatiality to the point of being almost parodistic/hollywood-styled.

You don't need surround, but it does make a difference. Whether or not that's important is up to you. đź‘Ť

Yeah, it even feels weird, like I've gone deaf in one ear from time to time!
I need to get my virtual surround working properly again. PD could do that in the game; a 2-channel virtualisation, instead of the (confusing) 5-channel one they already have. But then there'd be no point in buying the surround headphones, or other hardware...

Sounds are very important to me. :) I never thought the sounds were bad out of my TV, I just heard that were settings that could improve them :D

You can have the greatest speakers in the world & they will never change the fact that several cars in the game don't sound like they should. :dunce:

The 2010 Camaro SS is a perfect example. So is the LFA. I have recently states buying all 3 mufflers too.

Changed to 2 channel at 48KHZ and it sounds slightly better. :) I have also reduced the race sound effects to 90 on GT5 settings. Might reduce it even more! I cant stand hearing all that wind, I want the engines, not wind :D Thanks to Griffith for the help

I was running the B-Spec seasonal earlier and chose the Chaparral 2J for one of the events. In cockpit view and pressing the rear view button, the sound is probably the best I heard so far. It seems if they can get that source of sound more to the cockpit view and other driving views, people will most likely be a lot happier.

Yes my friend, that's true for most cars! PD listen!

A little tip of mine i just tried, if you wanna really hear the "improved racing sounds", take a ride in the Tesla Roadster as the engine does not make a sound.

The sound of the tires sounded so right when i braked and took corners with that car, you could almost smell the rubber!

Maybe it's just me, but is anyone else noticing that the new cars we have recently received (GT-R, Mini, 86, etc) all sound really good with their stock exhaust? Like, they sound accurate and there's a lot more depth to them. The Mini has a nice turbo whistle sound, and it actually sounds like a Cooper S. Plus, all the turbo cars have that "whoosh" sound from the exhaust that you would get with a factory turbo car, especially the GT-R.

For once I have decided to leave the stock exhaust on most of these cars, because they sound the most real. This leads me to wonder if PD has changed heir recording techniques for stock exhaust? Equipment change? Something is different, and I like it...

The new cars seem to be much higher quality in sound in general. The interior sound seems to be improved also. Im impressed.
