If u got surround sound hooked up which has an amp that allows u to adjust volume levels on the speakers, u can turn down that irritating distorted noise which does my head in! Just make sure you CRANK up the sub bass speaker to compensate!

Sounds more like a car to me this way. Especially in the cockpit view!
I really feel like I'm in sports car lol

And...

When u get bumped by other cars or crash u can really feel it! Lol

Somebody allready said that, but here it is again:

I noticed a soundbug on quite a few cars (Super GT):

- Yellowhat supra, lost one exhaust pipe and got no transmission sound in cockpit view anymore

- all GTRs got the same problem like the supra, they just have a little transmission sound left

If you switch to hood view, one exhaust pipe is still missing, (Only the left exhaust produces sound, the right one makes no noise at all) but the transmission whine is back.

The NSX Super GT cars are fine though.

This is a bug which was introduced with 2.02 as far as i remember. Somebody recognized that too or even got a fix for that problem?

EDIT: All cars i listed are Super GT race cars, no normal cars. Sorry for not writing it up clearly.

I think the addition of the GT-R BE is the cause for that, unless.. you used one when you tested it.
But since you said all GT-R cars, then the BE is to blame.

I was running the B-Spec seasonal earlier and chose the Chaparral 2J for one of the events. In cockpit view and pressing the rear view button, the sound is probably the best I heard so far. It seems if they can get that source of sound more to the cockpit view and other driving views, people will most likely be a lot happier.

Totally agree. The sound from the in cockpit rear view is exactly what i would like to be the main cockpit sound when front facing .

Can someone please confirm something for me? Grab a bone stock Lexus IS-F and take it for a quick spin. First, park the car and listen to it from the outside view, rev it a few times, etc.

Now, can anyone else confirm that it this car sounds bad 🤬 and that it's been changed? (i.e. PD replaced the exhaust sounds)

Thanks!

I made a very awesome discovery tonight.

If you buy a Mitsubishi 3000GT or Mitsubishi GTO and put on Titanium Semi-Racing exhaust......
it sounds almost exactly like the real car does. Try it. It's wonderful.

On the job! Edit : RT1600 you are right PD defiantly pumped up the car sound very good catch.

If you drive it from the roof view, it has the transmission wine with the stock gearbox for some reason. In any case, it kind of sounds like a supercharger. :D

Noticed this the other day: The race modable evo, when fully modded (plus race mod) sounds exactly the same as a full modded mini (premium) can't remember which one tho.

I still can't believe how messed up the V12 cars are. It almost feels like PD has something against them! :(

Lamborghini Aventador in GT5

Real life Aventador (skip to 3:00)

Aston Martin V12 Vantage in GT5

Real life V12 Vantage

Jaguar XJR-9 in GT5

Real life XJR-9 (Not exactly the best quality, but shows the distinctive V12 note)

Of all those three cars, only the V12 Vantage sounds remotely close to a V12 engine, but it too has way too much of the GT-characteristic "vacuum-cleaner" sound.

Subwoofers or High-end surround sounds will NOT have much effect in improving an engine sound sample which is totally incorrect for the car given.

In fact, among all the V12-engine cars in GT5, the only ones that actually SOUND like a V12 are the Standard Pagani Zondas (Probably the best engine sound in-game), the Premium Aston Martin DB9 (though missing a lot of the rumble sound), and the Lamborghini Miura (which also doesn't sound like a carburetor engine!)

It's time for PD to actually hire some more sound designers who actually know how to record the engine sounds of a car! I enjoy playing GT5, usually don't play nothing else. However, with the sound being half the experience IMHO, it is unacceptable to have them still sound like this after 15 years! :irked:

V12's have the most distinctive engine sounds. These non-DLC cars desperately need new engine sound samples:

- Pagani Zonda R
- Enzo Ferrari
- Lamborghini Murciélago (both of them)
- Lamborghini Countach (both of them)
- Mclaren F1 (both the GTR and the road car)
- Jaguar XJR-9
- Lister Storm V12 Race car
- Pagani Zonda LM Race car
- Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
- Ferrari 512BB (technically a 180° V12)
- Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Coupe
- Aston Martin DB9 (standard)
- Aston Martin Vanquish
- Audi Le Mans quattro
- Audi R10 TDI Race Car
- BMW V12 LMR Race car
- Cadillac CIEN Concept
- Ferrari 330P4 Race car
- Jaguar XJ13 Race Car
- Lamborghini NOMAD Diablo GT-1
- Peugeot 908 Hdi FAP Race car

I hope I haven't missed any :dunce:

Thanks! I was thinking about the AMG version when I wrote that up, edited the list :)

Anyways, I really wish that PD would put some more effort into the engine sounds. They got the standard Zondas, Corvette Z06, Camaro SS and a handful of others almost spot-on, why can't they do the same with the rest!

Wow that Supra sounds awesome.

I agree about the V12s.
Also the GTR, Scuderia and 458 need more realistic sounds.
I've heard a few in real life and damn, the sounds are crazy awesome.

I wonder why PD is so bad at car sounds. There must be something in their way to record the cars which is just plain wrong. Because every other racing game does it better. And PD has such a long history and expierence! Every Need for Speed , Dirt , Forza ,Supercar Challenge even Driver SF sounds so much better...
I wish they would bring a complete update just for the Sounds , even if it's just the Premium cars.

Yup, shame with this exquisite graphics, we get such poor sounds.... Is Kaz deaf or something?

I would give 100 premium DLC cars to get a COMPLETE OVERHAUL SOUND: CORRECT engine sounds, Loud bang exhausts and upshift and downshift gear "grinding" (when the car approach/depart from an apex), like this:

How GT5 casr should sound:

Loud bangs and upshift/downshift gears:

I agree its PD's biggest weakness. I think other games don't do their sound in-house. They used experienced sound studios to do the job.

At least if they could even get a nice GENERIC CORRECT sound for each kind of engine type (V6, V8, V10, V12...) and add more layers of sound effect (upshift/downshift, loud bangs, bow sound, etc...) I would be happy with that kind of "enhancement"... waiting for SpecIII (unlikely) or GT6 sound overhaul.

Yup, I would LOVE so much this fantastic Corvette sound on my Race modified GT5 Corvette ZR1! such a shame really that the sound is so behind the graphics in GT5.

I don't know about you guys, but I truly hear the sounds. The Jaguar's V12 sound is there, but its muffled and buried beneith synthetic sounds. Same goes for the BMW V12 LMR, the Mclaren F1 GTR and the Lister Storm.

Also, I still disagree about that sound sample for GTR3 simply because it still comes off heavely digitised (as does that Corvette Sample).
