Clear Gallardo sound - from outside the car. Thins out quite a lot inside the car.
I don't believe this is the final game sound though, a place holder
Has the same problem as the Nascar vid above, where the sound seems to phase cancel inside the car. It's from the same guy, so I assume it's a recording issue - compare it to the Gamescom Nascar vid I posted, and you will see what I mean

In this video from 4'22" to 4'23" (raise the volume !!!) we can hear the idle sound and it seems quite good even if i'm no nascar specialist (unfortunatly those vids from EPSILON don't have enough bass...)

Ummmm......that sounds pretty darn good to my ears (4'22" - 4'23"). It caught me by surprise and I did a double take. That's the idle as it should be (my opinion of course).

A lot of GT's idle samples have been very satisfactory in previous games too. Many of the muscle cars gurgled and rumbled at idle in GT4, until you pressed X.

listen to all the cars pass the camera from minute 3:50 till the end.. sounds pretty decent :)

I like the fact that unlike gt5p they all sound like different cars. Instead of the guess a car by a pic of a small part of it we can have a guess a car by the sound of it competition.

the nascar video : sound from the cockpit view is strange and very different from the awesome sound of the outside view...why ?

It's no different from any other car in the game. The engine sounds vary depending on what camera you're using (the cockpit sound won't sound the same as the chase cam sound).

Yeah, chase cam sounds more like what we think it should because it has the exhaust sound, where as all the other views are a combination of engine and wind noise.

Because in the in-car view there is a bunch of wheels whirring right next to you and in the chase view there are exhaust pipes blasting right in front of the camera.

umm. is there any chance that turbo cars will have the turbo spooling sound? with maybe the addition of a Blow of valve or something..

I've seen repeated in this thread that GT5 has very accurate audio positioning with the implication, if not outright claiming, of Forza 3 just having slapped on audio that doesn't emanate from the proper areas of the vehicle.

So I've thrown together a quick clip of my Cobra R blasting down the benchmark drag strip as seen via a side view camera so you can adjust your volume balance slider to see for yourself that the supercharger whine is coming from the engine bay, and the exhaust note is coming from the pipes. The vehicle sounds are also properly positioned and muffled when you are viewing the game from the interior as well, I can make a video showing this too if anyone wants proof.

I hope my first ever post here on GTPlanet being about Forza Motorsport doesn't get me in trouble, I love all racing games!

The incar, behindcar, aroundcar sounds in FM3 (many camerapositions;-) are well done. In Replay mode though, things are a bit dissapointing to me (both graphycally and sound-wise). In Replay mode its like watching/listening to a mediocre video game. The simulation of the car movements and sound could/should(Forza4) be more refined.

Forza and GT will be competitors again (since a long time). Things can only get better this way :embarrassed:).

Exactly This is where I hate Forza, When watching a replay the sounds are terrible, Forza4 prob will be on the Xbox360 so we will have to wait and see what they can do.

Just watched the 458 video on the news section, Oh baby i cant wait to hear that on the surround Sound! I cant wait to drive that thing. the replays are beautiful.

The Gallardo and R8 in those new videos sound like muck, they're terrible,
Its fine saying they sound like cars but they could use go-kart sounds and they would still be as close as those current God-awful sounds,

The term placeholder is being thrown around alot and I can understand why, becasue its utterly unbelievable that this could be what PD think these cars, with such recognisable(and popular) sounds in real life, should sound like.

I did'nt click on the 908 link becasue I dont want to have my soul crushed by another dissappointing sound, I did play the demo at Le Mans earlier this year but gladly didn't get to hear the shoe-horn sound job they did on that car due to the music and general loud atmosphere at the GT stand,(not to mention the pant wettingly good sounds of the real cars coming from the track every other second).

I hope to God they have improved the sounds for the final build, but given some of the sounds I heard they'll have to be monumental improvements.

^^ Agreed.

I've played the new demo twice at two separate locations and, even though I was never much of a critic of the sound in previous GT games, I was pretty disappointed in what I heard, especially where the Corvette Stingray was concerned.

Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised with the sound quality in the final build... Because almost anything would be an improvement on this.

I went to visit the Eurogamer Expo at Earl's Court in London today in order to sample the GT5 demo physics for the first time since I ran the GT Academy TT last year. This would be the first time I sampled the newer physics.

I went after 3pm as tickets were sold out, and managed to get in for £5. I headed straight for zone C where the 4 Gran Turismo 5 pods were, sporting Logitech DFGT wheels. F1 2010 was right next to it using G27s, shame GT didn't have them.

Having watched some of the recent videos on the GTP front page I was worried how violently the cars like the Ferrari Enzo and 458 Italia were reacting under heavy braking. They seemed to shudder and lock up immediately. After watching a few people drive this demo build, and finally having a go myself I realised what the story was. They were all using standard physics.

As soon as I selected professional physics and turned the aids off, I was able to utilise smoother brakes more reminiscent of Prologue and the GT5 demo. I did 2 mins worth of driving at the Nurburgring Nordschleife in the Ferrari 458 (yellow, of course) using S3 tyres. I must say I was very impressed with the sound, especially in chase cam. I drive using bumper, but it still had a healthy roar and my goodness the 458 has some blistering power and 7 singing gears. It was an absolute pleasure to drive and wasn't terribly unlike the handling of a Ferrari F430 on S tyres in GT5: Prologue.

After that I had to wait about 20 odd minutes for a free pod and another try. I decided to try the Nissan MOTUL GTR Super GT race car on R3/R3 at Nordschleife also. I found the R3s immensely grippy, to the point where I was actually braking far too early and never utilising the runoffs or exit kerbing. I couldn't feel the limit very quickly on those tyres. The Motul GTR sounds magnificent even in bumper cam, and you can really feel the bumpy nature of the Nordschleife. I was very much driven to lift off over the jumps and drive well below 100%.

My last tries of the demo were with the Motul GTR on R2s and R1, and by far the most enjoyable experience was R1/R1. I did this three times and it was utterly amazing fun. Buckets of grip, a lovely amount of slip and liftoff oversteer with bagfuls of power. It really felt like a proper race car should, not hugely different from the tuned Fairlady Z of the GT5 Academy demo. It felt properly connected to the road in my opinion and a noticeable step up from Prologue physics.

A lot of people were trying the road-going supercars like the Enzo and the Gallardo on tracks like Madrid and Rome. I noticed that on this build, when in cockpit view the detail of the following cars in rear view mirrors was significantly more basic than if you actually looked back using rear-view.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience though, and if the Motul GTR and 458 on the Nurburgring are any indication of what's to come with GT5, the good times are most definitely just around the corner.

All the best
Maz

Like i said before after hearing that 458 video on the news section I am very amp to drive that car!

The warble should also result in more irregular power delivery though, not only as a sound effect.
In the latest GT5 kiosk demo the Motul GT-R does have transmission whine, but it's not very strong. It's perfect this way: as you can note in the video above, it doesn't overpower the engine/exhaust sound.

What the Motul GT-R needs is transmission whine and gear change warble

Thanks for this video!
There is enough transmission whine IMO (See the last (17th) video in de News thread "GT5 Kiosk Demo HD Gameplay Video Blowout (with Sound)". The sound during shifting though, is much too tame, making the incar experience a bit dull. A nice rough blip of the trottle like in your posted video, especially durin down shifting, would make so much difference. This part (the emotion) has always been missing in GT. Maybe this can replicated when using a wheel with clutch, but it would be nice if this would also be implemented when using a simple controler ;o).

Yeah, lets make it so realistic that we all have to wear ear plugs when we play the game, or maybe not.............

Comparing the two videos though, there is more noticeable transmission whine in the GT5 video than the real life one.....................

I'm a little bit concerned over the excessive tyre sequel on the demos, hot soft tyres should be all but silent especially race slicks. Everything sounds like a $50 hard as stone K mart tyre so far

Not really, you can hear the tyres squeal in Kaz's 24 Hour Nurburgring incar videos
