I've discovered that ALOT of ussually clean racers are very dirty when it comes to this demo. Cutting corners like there's no tomorrow!
If thats the way to win, well you can keep your trophy.

I know it does not give you a penalty, but that's not how i roll.

If this is in GT5,then GT5P was my last GT!

And what corner(s) are those?

They all seem fine to me.

-------------

Also, someone probably mentioned this already, but the cockpit view seems a bit more upfront in the demo. I kinda like how it was in Prologue though.

On the inside track section of the circuit, the first 2 road side grass textures are at a significantly higher resolution to the rest of the grass textures. Also, the inside track road texture is plain compared to the grooved oval part.

Hmmm i need to check this out, would be an indication that the track is still either still a work in progress or that theres really some compression going on.

👍 :sly:

Of course, don't let anyone hear you say it... Some people might then actually believe that the 201MB (JP) demo really isn't a full indication of the final GT5 game!

Has anyone else had this problem?

I just set a super fast time and beat my old record by far and then when i went to exit, it never uploaded and instead just froze and i couldn't do anything. Kinda annoys me seeing as i just spent the last 2 hours playing.

ok try this. drive in the view where you can see the car. brake til you get to a stop then notice the amount of light on the screen. now hit the rear view and hold it. now notice there is ALOT more light but continue holding the rear view and the light dims down to match the forward view. weird! and i hate the interior view. i swear every car i've ever driven i have been able to see both side mirrors without turning head. i liked GT5P interior view much better. atleast i could see the drivers side mirror in it.

Seriously, what are you guys on about since there is nowhere you can cut without having your lap invalidated.:odd:

Sorry Paulie i disagree and so do alot of others using the time trial aswell. As i`m sure you are aware there are plenty of video`s and pics of who is cutting (and what most people would consider is a totally unacceptable amount of cutting corners). Granted this is only a computer game at the end of the day but the rules of staying on the track should apply regardless. And it truely is a shame that these people stoop to that level to get a good time.

Daan and Sphinx seem to exprees the same concerns over cutting corners as do many members of GTPLANET. We will see what happens with the final results in a month`s time.

My view and driving/racing style on cornering is two wheels (inner or outer depending on your entry/apex/exit cornering line) are allowed on the ripple strip,if any of these two wheels go onto the wrong side of the apex/exit ripple strips during a corner, then your cutting it as you are officially driving off the designated track and should be disqualified/have that lap invalidated.

I find it odd that PD let this slip and that Kaz has started doing it himself(i`m yet to see the vid of him doing it) i expected better. :irked:

OK, so 2 wheels still on track, just like WRS.......my laps by your standards are clean, and it also happens to be the standards I hold, but when I have made the odd mistake (usually before the lap even starts on that last corner after just restarting and my concentration level is low) and cut a corner it automatically voids my next lap or current lap. I'll have to look around for these illeged vids and pics.

Edit: OK, I found out by reading other threads you CAN cut the final corner without penalty, still no pics though.

You may not be turning your head but I bet your eyes turn to look in your furthest mirror. If not your a rabbit.
The full version is supposed to have head tracking isn't it?

well i did se that vid, and i dont ever will call it cuting corners. he run wide+ lost traction+ had a bit of overstera and = lost time, but was still fast.
i dont think that anybody shuld cut corners, but penalising a driver for a driving eror that rather cost him time than gave any advantage is ''upside down"

I noticed that the engine sounds are exactly alike when either inside or outside the car.

it keeps doing it. Each time i beat my previous best it freezes when i go to exit and my time never gets updated.

I don't know if this is possible but........
could it be that somehow you were (after starting the demo) logged out of the PSN?
The freezing you mention, is the PS3 freezing or just a stutter in the game trying to update your time?
I have not tried logging out while running the TT's but will try later today and see what happens.

Anyone else try logging out while doing the TT's?

EDIT
OK, just tried logging out during the TT and it sounds as though you have a different problem.
We can log out and our time will not be added to the leaderboard until we end the TT and back out to the main menu. At that time we are asked to log in.
I do remember reading that there was some maintenance being performed on a server, maybe the same server you use.
It could have been at the same time or have nothing to do with it at all.
Here is the link.
Good luck.

On another note, more OP related.
After flying into a sand trap with the stock 370 my rear-view mirror seemed to become loose. The engine vibrated the image in the mirror. No engine input and the mirror image was clear, rev the motor and the mirror vibrated also.
I had to back out and start the TT over with no mirror problems.
Maybe a little damage glitch?

Maybe this has been posted already, but I think the sensitivity of the TCS has been reduced. It's on 7 but doesn't interfere as abruptly as in GT5:P. I'm using a Sixaxis BTW

Paulie, the pics are in one of the threads...the cutting corners thread i think?? They show just how far you can cut and get away with it and it also clearly shows the proper clean racing line indicators.

I do aim to be clean and precise in GT,but being human we do make the odd mistake :sly:

I came across odd error today. After one of my hotlaps was completed (it was strange that while I was driving, Demo was not comparing my sector times) all my sectors were -0'59.59.59 or so :D

You can see the difference between the textures used for the first two road side grass tiles and the rest of the grass at this link courtesy of Taxigamer.com. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4042/4186213948_dbfcac8cc9_o.png

It's also worth comparing the track in the in-field sector... http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2487/4186215668_8d165371ef_o.png
... With the oval section of the track, where you can see the grooves in the track surface... http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4045/4186215172_76eda409bf_o.png

It's easier to see the difference yourself on a decent 1080p TV. Assuming of course that you have one to see it with. :)

Will things change for the finished version of the game? Refer to Sony's blog statement in the lead up... http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009...s-december-17th-with-downloadable-time-trial/
"To enter the Academy racers will have to post their best overall leaderboard times negotiating a specially created section of a new Gran Turismo 5 circuit."

Specially created for what? :sly:

The distance marker boxes on the left side of the backstretch are movable. Please don't ask me why I was over there or how I hit them. lol

Well I just watched Ken Block @ Gymkhana practice on youtube and I must say I was no where near as graceful. )

I just managed to push them around, not launch off them. I kind of think they ought to be of the styrofoam variety, but what do I know.

Today I had an interesting situation in GT5 TT Demo... I was driving for fun around end of the main straight (with the normal 370Z). And then.... I (think) touched the wall and something strange happened to the game. It's hard to tell what was the base framerate (30 or 60fps) but the game was frame dropping and tearing heavily.
But the most important is that there was motion blur like during replay mode. Unfortunately I wasn't able to record that and after a change of view, everything returned to normal.

ps. Sorry for my bad English ;)

@Emet_PL .. yeah that happens to me sometimes when I switch between normal view and looking behind me and flicking the ghost car on and off. It's weird, the game feels slower and easier.. I wonder could it be possible to do a real hot lap in this glitch.

Also today I was messing around with the foam blocks on the straight in the middle of the circuit. I drove with one at the front of my car and went full speed into the wall. The block went flying through the barrier into the infield and then just disappeared. Not much of a discovery as things like this happen in games but it's something none the less
