First download/install attempt failed at the install after a pitifully-slow download. Oh well; try (and hopefully not a third try) again.

Second verse, better than the first.

My demo is still downloading. I can't believe how slow the PS3 is with wireless connection. My internet is very quick on my computer and my downloads for demos and dlcs on my xbox 360 take very little time, it make no sense.
Guess the demo is a popular download. As for the wireless problem, take a look at the wireless settings for the PS3 and make sure they're the same as anything else that's wireless.

In the case of wireless the type of router and the signal strength are big factors. My brother was trying to use his PC on a wireless receiver and he said it was like using dial up. I had him bring the receiver here and try it and we were getting 20mbs on it when connected to the internet which of course is full speed for my connection. The difference being that in one location he had a weak signal 65-75% and here we had 100%

I have never tried a PS3 with an internal wireless adapter. I do have a wireless repeater with 5 wired ports which I can use to pick up the wireless signal and connect the PS3 with a cable to it and I get good speed.

The download estimated 11 minutes today. I think it actually took around 15 to fully download it. Right at the end it looked like it was hung, said 30 seconds remaining then 31, 32, up to 36 seconds over the course of about 3 to 4 minutes then completed.

I don't know, maybe at the development time it was still to buggy and unfinished. Another thing that makes me think it's still the old tire model, is the drifting into the corners style. I'm competing for the Academy seriously this year and it is the same as last year, fastest way around corners often is to throw the car into it a bit sideways with the help of brakes and downshifts.

Well, who knows at what stage of development they currently are. Let´s hope you are right and improvements will go even further from the demo onwards the, hopefully finished, GT6.

And Good Luck man 👍

after a pitifully-slow download.

I never understood the complaints about slow downloads for game updates and PS Store downloads. The GT6 demo took about two and a half minutes to download for me, still less than half of what my connection is capable of, but still a short time for 1GB with thousands of other people downloading it simultaneously.

OK got home a little while ago and ran through the events.

I like the physics.

The Leaf handles surprisingly well for a fwd.

This was my first time on Silverstone so I'm satisfied with a 2:24 flat for now. Ranked low 3XX? Yeah, not for long. I'm sure I'm getting pushed into the 400s while I am typing.

I didn't find the penalty zones too harsh but I didn't abuse the curbs very much.

It does seem like a bit of drifting is needed for a fast time. The one thing I'd fix in the physics is to bleed a bit more speed in a drift. The fastest way around shouldn't tires bright red and bawling.

You must have gotten lucky on the timing. My download attempts kept on stalling.

As for the demo, the graphics need some optimization, but it sure seems more controllable than GT5/2012 Academy with absolutely no aids. Haven't tried the clutch yet; guess Autumn Ring is as good a place as any.

Yeah, my download was taking too long. I'm going to try a new method, keep retrying until I get a download that's fairly quick.

Update for me. After turning off my PS3 for an hour and a half; the demo is now downloading at a decent speed for me.

EDIT: Playing it now, just finished Sunday cup. OMG, I'm in love with this demo, the physics and in-game car detail is astounding. Yup, I'm buying the full game on launch day.

You should pre order it from game stop and get the 20 extra cars I'm going to do that when I come home from my trip.

I liked the demo, but the tires felt different between the regular Z and the tuned Z in the academy trials. It was almost like the tuned Z had less grip. I noticed a big difference in the "steering sensitivity" for the controller. On 7 the GTR would turn too sharply and oversteer in turns. Cutting it back to 4 and I went over a second faster immediately.

I already had it pre ordered but didn't upgrade it to a special edition since there wasn't any info out when I did. But now I'll upgrade it when I get the chance.

Anyone else notice the dynamic tessellation kick off on the wheel rims when there's a few cars on screen? Those rims are not always quite so round anymore!

I hate to say this now, but I think Polyphony Digital should completely remove the dynamic time of day aspects and focus on baking great looking shadows into the tracks. Dynamic time of day (and indeed - weather) should work much better on PS4. Jaggy shadows, smoke, rain, dirt, etc... It already is looking like these things will all be exactly as per GT5.

Anything to improve performance and sharpen the visuals on PS3 would get a thumbs up from me, even if it means ditching certain other things. Likewise, I'm not very optimistic about GT6 being a solid 60fps when frames are dropping even when just running a time trial with a ghost car. Really struggling to see enough improvements over GT5 at this point. The new physics model is great - but it just doesn't seem enough!

To each their own, but I can't possibly disagree more. I don't care how crappy the visuals are, time/weather change greatly enhances the thing I come to GT for: driving. I will agree about the FPS though, that really needs to be a solid 60fps. As much as I enjoyed playing GT5 in 3D, the hit to the framerate was too much for me to keep playing it like that.

But why? These "weather effects" don't even look natural, if anything, they just throw you off from the the experience.

Just switched back to GT5 from the GT6 demo. Physics are so dull, and the car is lifeless in GT5, in the GT6 demo the car is so much more alive, and constantly moving.

The demo deem so much more crisp as well. Looking forward to getting the full version.
