A casual note from the host about creating challenges for the HUB;
Quite often I'm sent challenges that are not suitable for the HUB - for various reasons (some obvious, some that had to be explained) and could be anything from a regulation that couldn't be controlled to a convoluted championship that involved 8 cars. Challenges (while should be creative and with some degree of difficulty) shouldn't be hard to explain or understand.
Get from point A to B. Use this car. Fastest, slowest, highest, specific time . . . that's it.
The most complicated we got was when we used the eligible Miura for all 3 of the Seasonal Races - and took the total time as a Championship winning time - which meant players had to provide 3 screenshots every time they attempted the one event - a lot of work, and we don't want to get that complicated to engineer a little driving fun; it becomes more of a chore and time-waster.
The following is some notes I sent a player once when they asked me for advice on what made for an acceptable HUB challenge:
#The challenges have to follow PD's rules - so everything PD allows for the event (for instance no limit on the PP allowed, or SRF off, etc, by PD since we have no control over what players might do and they may cheat, etc)
#You can pick whatever car or cars are eligible or confine it to a particular manufacturer e.g Ferrari only, etc. or number of cylinders, country of manufacture, etc.
#You may ask for
a: Fastest Finish
b: Slowest Finish - Pace car event
c: Smallest MOV
d: Largest MOV
e: Find fastest AI in P2
f: Bring most amount cars of a particular kind (manufacturer or model) to the finish line together (consecutively)
g: Screenshot of Fastest Lap time - (this is available through Replay)
h: Most amount of cars lapped
i: Highest Position in a difficult to drive or grossly underpowered (but eligible) car, etc
These are just a few of the examples - and because GT6 has a plenitude of cars from various disciplines and a multitude of tracks that cover diverse environments players can mix and match these objectives/cars/tracks to great variety.
If, as a GT6 player, you have a suitably 'large' or complicated challenge - then please do not let my hesitation at posting such challenges in here deter you. In fact, I encourage those players who have come up with suitably attractive challenges (which I have passed on at the HUB due to being too complex or not appropriate to the HUB) to open a separate thread immediately and post that challenge.
We need that sort of activity - if it is appropriate to GTPlanet and attractive enough for players to take on. GT6 is still being sold and there are always new players to the game dropping in to share their new-found fun. To find challenge threads to try out and a community to join will obviously attract them as well as give life to both the game and the GT6 Forum.
So - apart from doing anything displeasing to the Moderation Committee - feel free to post your challenges (if they are not HUB-related and are complex enough to warrant their own thread) in a separate thread - and I am sure there will be some action.
Actually, a little bird told me that there is some 'Gone in 60 Seconds' challenge in the making - involving lots of cars, several seconds of mayhem, and a track that will be dragged to death.
Maybe a rumour. We'll see.
Till then, we got 3 fairly simple-to-understand (though maybe hard to ace) challenges on the board - and as HUB events usually are - are all interconnected by various rules and traditions - and more to come to fill each particular section ( Whoosier, Vic Reign Rights, etc) of this peculiar HUB trophy game we play. . . .
Cheers!
Harry.
