I refuse to believe that one can gold all tests by luck. It requires consistent driving or some practice to do so, eventually making better drivers.
I understand your point, but they could still go online and drive like crap. It's ultimately up to them.

Is there not an ARCADE mode in Gran Turismo anymore?
There is.

Yep. And honestly what's the point of having such an elitist method to determine good drivers. A much better and logical method would be a simple thumbs up/down rep system for players, they could be in positive or negative rep and they can only spectate races where a positive rep is required. Also the complimentary demolition derby rooms could have an option to disable driver rating for the lobby.

Use your brain people there are much better ways than just arbitrary golds or not.

Senna better be hidden somewhere in that massive 1.2gb day one download. Having him in the intro and then otherwise absent from the rest of the game until the nebulous "future" update is going to stir up a lot of noise...

His image is plastered on a bundle that I believe will retail in Brazil
There just HAS to Senna content in there on day 1 or there will be trouble.

A solution would be to have what Rockstar did with GTA Online...a good/bad sport system, with some tweaks.

If you're a good sport, you get put with other good sports and get small periodic rewards (1-2,000 credits). If you're a bad sport, you're put with other bad sports for a set amount of time. You can give someone a bad sport rating if they rammed you in a race by using a thumbs up/down system.

PD would have to implement clean driver trophies for any of this to happen.
They actually give you stars after races but that has sadly nothing to do how clean you drive.(one for bronze, two for silver and three for gold)

Sadly all the license test proves is that they can drive at a basic with SRF on. I'll pass on those rooms. And Gold was easy in GT5 and looks easier in GT6.
That sucks.. Didn't relise SRF was forced on.

Just because someone got gold in all of their tests doesn't necessarily mean they drive great.

It would be a start.

Yeah, id let the game dexide. Leave it to a human to give you a thumbs down because you finished ahead of them or have a different flag.

People exploit the "bad sport" thing in GTA Online.

If they can implement options to check on tire changes in a race and minimum pitstops, they can create an option that does the same for excessive/aggressive contact in a race.

Or what about penalties, there's already penalties for track cutting, there should be penalties for excessive contact. Too many penalties in one race or whatever and you get "bad sported" if we're going to use that term.

Up/ down vote could be abused or used for popularity contest. Not good. Contact would be better.. but still not good because if someone rams me I shouldn't be penalized.

Either way, both would work.

From what I've heard, if a driver in a race online, doesn't meet the required tire changes or minimum pitstops, they are assessed a post-race penalty.

What happens when I run into a room with a few bad drivers that decide the braking zone is 200 feet closer than where it should be? I'm right behind them thinking nothing of it and BAM they threshold brake. Now I ram into the back of them, and I get the bad driver rating when it should be the other way around. I have had this happen to me many times in GT5 public rooms.

Guys, I found out what (or who) PD used to recreate the engine sounds in the games, other than vacuum cleaners. It must be this guy:

I've seen plenty of quick drivers that won't hesitate to knock you into the pitwall or grass when you get alongside them. Fast drivers aren't always clean racers.

True, that's a matter of etiquette though. All I'm implying is that educated players are more likely to contribute to a great race.

This is really open for abuse, much like the good sport/bad sport system is in GTA.

Actually, licences are way too easy in GT6. Passed every one at gold with just one try.

According to the GT6 manual, which is now online on some of the official sites, there's 8 sections of setting up a room (although there's 10 in the screenshot).

http://www.gran-turismo.com/hk/gt6/manual/#!/onlinerace/room

  1. Basic Settings
  2. Room Settings
  3. Track Settings
  4. Qualifier Settings
  5. Race Settings
  6. Car Selection Method
  7. Car Filters
  8. Limit Driving Options
Makes you wonder what the 2 "mystery" setting screens contain (or if it's just a photoshop gaffe). I would be hoping for more elaborate car selection/car restrictions...

Car filters seem good. If we can actually have LMP and GT3 only or GT500 and GT300 only would be cool. Ill find out in 12hours! :)

It seems that on the japanese version if you get all golds in the national B licence you get an Alfa Mito. I played a bit the european version and I remember it was a different car. What's up with that?
