Sony is the audio/video standard. In terms of proffesional movie quality applications. My dad got me onto Sony products and I have never had issues. You can google all day and see Sony products on the high end of things are at on near the top in almost every electronic category. Even their new xperia phones are rated as top of the line. In terms of playstations, I had 2 ps2's that lasted years without issue before one had "disc read error" after 5 years of gaming dvds cds etc. My brother bought a ps3 3 years ago, still going strong. My little brothers g.f is still on her 60gb 'fat' while he went through 3 xb360's that each died about a half-1 year after refurbishing or replacement. "Don't watch dvd's on my xbox, use the ps3" he would say. It still didn't help.
They only use sony stuff in recording studios, im not gonna sit here and argue with people who think dr dre beats are the best and 4k tv's aren't superior to normal hd tv's .

These standards look way more acceptable. No more squares round the edges, and it seems like they've made the headlights and tail lights actual 3D structures with transparent glass for a lot of them. I didn't use them in GT5 but I certainly will in GT6.
the headlights actually stayed the same in all the models I have seen..

Maybe it's the change in brightness of the headlight textures then, but they look so much better to me. The cars no longer look like they've been varnished.

The website does indeed state that it takes six months to create
each car:

"In recent years, CAD data of actual cars are often provided to Gran Turismo thanks to our strong partnerships with automotive manufacturers and as a consequence, the time to understand the design of the car has been drastically reduced. The same cannot be said for the development time: a model will still take 6 months to create, and that is because the time and costs saved in the research phase are re-distributed into modelling to further improve the quality of the final product."

Let's say creating all the assets, physics and sound (what little of it) for the mission took three months to build, which was probably the job of two or three modellers, a programmer and a sound engineer. That time isn't going to go towards other things people have been clamouring about, like the AI, as they're unaffected by this little side project these people have embarked on. Also, three months really is only enough time for one modeller to make half a car, and it's not like the entire studio ground to a halt for those three months in order to create the mission. Hence I think creating this entire portion of the game had very little impact on the development on the rest.

Also I really don't think it takes Polyphony that long to actually obtain the licensing for the Lunar Rover. I have a little image in my head of Kaz phoning up NASA asking if his team can add one to the game and the representative going, "Um, I'll get back to you on that," then calling back two months later with an "Uh, okay."

Haha, there's probably alot of paperwork and back and forth propositions and agreements and what not that are needed to get the license instead of a simple phone call... :P

Anyway, given the short time it takes to resolve the issues you state, why ignore them and carry on with things that have less impact on the game for the actual users? People want better sounds, not resolved. People want all cars to be premium, nowhere near resolved. People want exterior styling, untill this very day, unresolved. It's the small things that make a game great, not the big additions...

If they didn't do this whole moon thing in the first place no-one would've cared OR even thought about it anyway... Literally. I'm pretty sure it hasn't even been mentioned on this website, online, OR at the PD office (before the idea came up, obviously)...

Of nonsense, usually.

Nonsense or not, still 25k worth of words. ;)

Indeed, but everytime I see an improved standard car I lose hope that the car ever will become a premium. It's like they're settling with the second best. Mixed feelings about these.

Realistically the amount of work involved in making every car a really top of the line premium would makes it something that'll probably never happen. If by GT7 we have 500-600 premiums, and 700 upgraded standards I'd be over the moon.

6 months per vehicle with a small team you can caount on 1 hand. Times that by the amount of cars is a looong time. :P

It's a question about priorities, not every car has to be upgraded to premium. The fact that we get less than 10 standard cars from GT5 that have been upgraded to premium for GT6 indicates that PD should find a better balance between premium upgrades and new cars. I'd rather have that Nissan R390 in premium than a new entry such as the Chevrolet El Camino.

YOU DO NOT LEAVE THE EL CAMINO OUT IN FAVOR OF A NISSAN.

Yes we will. Anytime. Anyday. Fricking Americans can't even turn... Drive like a brick!

Throw a brick as hard as you can, that's exactly what an American muscle car will do. Go fast, straight, and crash.

For GT7, on the PS4, I'll be extremely disappointed if there is standard cars, updated or not. This is from someone who loves standard cars right now.
This is what I'm looking for-
445 premium GT6 cars carried over (unsure how many DLC cars there will be, thinking 30+20 Vision GT)
130 new cars to Gran Turismo
175 "standard" cars fully modeled with cockpit view. And only 30 of which will be Skylines, Miatas, RX7s

Totalling 750 absolutely stunning cars on 40 tracks.

Fair enough I guess. New cars are what pull in the mainstream gamers though, so I'm not surprised they're adding Vipers and Ferraris instead of upgrading cars which are, to the average gamer, very obscure.

Did any 2 ton 1960s affordable-to-everyone cars turn when racing? No, stop with the stupid stereotypes

Personally I'd never opt for getting rid of cars. I'd imagine that having your favourite car or the car that you own which isn't in any other game removed would suck.

I'm with you regarding priority, but would not agree on your example.

Now, Ford GT '05 when we have a Ford GT '06? That rustles my jimmies.
